  1. Let's take our time and get the right head coach for the next 5-7 years. Worry about the players and assistants later. KD has left our program with a good reputation, and with playing time available here I don't think we'll fall off the cliff.
  2. Not to steal Skip's thunder but....enjoy: https://controller.osu.edu/acc/2015_fin_rpt.pdf
  3. Let's see, who are our tight ends now?
  4. KD's intro http://www.goduquesne.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/033017aac.html
  5. So none of these guys were hired by Dayton: http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/news/dayton-coach-job-archie-miller-replacements-greg-paulus-dane-fife-james-whitford/1gtihgdgszy7c1585zxmvw2gzx
  6. As far as getting home opponents, yes. And you can only travel the players so much.
  7. Atlantic "10", with 14 full members I think he can get to middle of the pack without too much trouble. Getting to the top 3 or 4 for an at large will be tough with Dayton, VCU, URI, Richmond, etc. And Duquesne, like Akron, will have to earn every ounce of respect they get from selection committees when they get to bubble territory.
  8. It was mentioned in the elton alexander column.
  9. Size matters also in visual effect for recruit visits and for getting the Indiana's, Pitt's and Iowa State's to come here. Football and basketball.
  10. He was with DONORS?!? The coaching search can wait !!
  11. It helps the revenue stream to win a pro sports championship I suppose. Where will the Cavs play while these reno's are being done?
  12. Maybe KD has already donated some money back to UA quietly, who knows? And maybe he will donate some of his Duq. earnings. It's not like he's cutting all ties with Akron.
  13. Pardon the repeats if already posted... http://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2017/03/28/can-dambrot-change-course-duquesne-basketball/ http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/03/will_akron_replace_keith_dambr.html
  14. To upgrade JAR Arena?
  15. "We will immediately launch a national search for our new basketball coach, and we reaffirm our commitment to building our basketball program and all of Akron Athletics into a nationally recognized program across the board. In addition to finding a new coach, we are working to be in a position to upgrade the James A. Rhodes Arena and we will need to rely on support from the community to achieve that goal." Any guesses what LW meant by the underlined?
  16. It alleviates some salary cost on paper in the short term but those savings need to be plowed directly into the facility upgrades fund. It's not like a windfall that's going to ease a lot of pressure on the athletics budget.
  17. http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-coaching-changes-archie-miller-leaves-dayton-for-indiana-who-will-flyers-hire/ Akron Zips Out: Keith Dambrot The Zips lose a great coach at the mid-major level and now need to bring in someone who can keep the program atop the MAC. An ideal candidate would be John Groce, who thrived in the league at Ohio before heading to Illinois. Dayton’s Kevin Kuwik would also work, if he does not get offered the UD job after Archie’s departure to IU. Jeff Boals, who grew up less than 40 minutes from the area and just finished his first year at Stony Brook, would be worth a look as well.
  18. I'm not panicking but that was funny
  19. what matters is whether we can get hot in the MAC tourney as the 6 seed
  20. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/03/keith_dambrot_reportedly_leave.html "When you're not happy after winning 26 and 27 games, you have to re-evaluate,'' Dambrot said when contacted late Monday night. "The one-bid league thing was really starting to wear on me and my staff. "This was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. I never could have made my comeback without Akron. Not many people get to coach for their alma mater. I will always be an Akron Zip."
  21. We will immediately launch a national search for our new basketball coach....
  22. We can't afford a bidding war on him...bottom line (pun intended).
  23. http://www.gozips.com/sports/wten/2016-17/releases/20170326se0rm1 Tennis is doing very well. Although in their 7-0 sweep of EMU I don't think an American played for either team. Oh well, it's nice that the MAC provides a good place for the Europeans to refine their game, get an education, and experience some USA.
