  1. Basketball practice in June? Did Groce also complete his first practice as Zips coach yesterday?
  2. Rumor has it the Cavs are going to move away from their Game 1 plan of letting KD run wild and try a risky strategy of playing more physical in Game 2.
  3. So I guess that frees up a scholarship for any available Illinois transfers
  4. That list has 9 each for UA and UB. Still not bad though.
  5. Welcome to the board and welcome in advance to Akron. We have had home and homes with Syracuse and Pitt and beaten them on the road only to lose at home on the return trips to Infocision. We have also lost to Indiana at home and would obviously love to add another P5 win. Matt Campbell is a local product (Canton) and former MAC coach so there's a good storyline for this game. Should be a good one.
  6. NIU edges Kent for Jacoby Trophy. Lady Zips were middle of the pack.
  7. Back to back in '16-'17 : http://gozips.com/general/2016-17/releases/20170531lq61ko
  8. Yet he is considering DePaul. I think JG's teams will have better post-season results in 2-3 years.
  9. Might he be on Groce's radar for UA? http://qctimes.com/sports/college/illinois/coleman-lands-to-transfer-from-illinois/article_77b63e35-9496-5db9-9b1b-b7293884b85d.html
  10. Is the HOF Arena replacing the McKinley Field House? Or is Canton going to keep 3 large basketball venues around?
  11. Go Bron/Kyrie. Back to back.
  12. 4-ft. outfield fence
  13. Akron-Penn State to Kick off Season at Noon on ABC http://gozips.com/sports/fball/2017-18/releases/20170525rq6hoq Lot 9 tailgating opens at 6 a.m.
  14. RENE CASTRO TO FINISH COLLEGIATE CAREER AS A DUKE http://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2017/05/23/rene-castro-finish-collegiate-career-duke/
  15. Did I say national audience? I believe ESPN is available world wide!
  16. The MAC stands to make a lot more money from ESPN than what it will lose from reduced gate/concessions revenue. These are "studio games" and the players get a national audience as opposed to a few thousand attendees. You have to look at the big picture (was that a pun?)
  17. ESPN Schlabach has PSU at #5 http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/19242379/ohio-state-buckeyes-replace-alabama-crimson-tide-post-spring-top-25
  18. Purdue to acquire Kaplan University, increase access for millions https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2017/Q2/purdue-to-acquire-kaplan-university,-increase-access-for-millions.html https://polytechnic.purdue.edu Looks like Purdue is going all in on the Scarborough model. Just need a Corps of Cadets now.
  19. 1. Wagon Wheel competitive advantage 2. Helps athletic department budget 3. Helps Title IX compliance 4. Frees up Jackson Field real estate and eliminates need for additional expenditures on baseball facilities 5. Avoids NEO early spring climate-related disadvantage in the sport 6. Avoids competition with Akron's popular minor league team for local baseball spectator interest off the top of my head... (with all due respect to the players and coaches who have played/coached here)
  20. The G5 conferences will reform their football system eventually to reduce the subsidies. This can't go on forever.
  21. More TB Memory Lane: http://auburn.247sports.com/ContentGallery/A-look-back-at-Terry-Bowden-Auburn-Tigers-pitch-man-52733771/9#
  22. I love using that emoticon!
  23. Dang, they could have had a brand new on-campus FBS football stadium..
  24. Another good reason for the city to get the RB gone ASAP (as if more reasons are needed)
  25. I would encourage you to at least come out for the Iowa State game on Sept. 16, especially if Warren Ball is playing. Ashland will be playing away that day at Northwood U., wherever that is.
