  1. Maybe KD has already donated some money back to UA quietly, who knows? And maybe he will donate some of his Duq. earnings. It's not like he's cutting all ties with Akron.
  2. Pardon the repeats if already posted... http://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2017/03/28/can-dambrot-change-course-duquesne-basketball/ http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/03/will_akron_replace_keith_dambr.html
  3. To upgrade JAR Arena?
  4. "We will immediately launch a national search for our new basketball coach, and we reaffirm our commitment to building our basketball program and all of Akron Athletics into a nationally recognized program across the board. In addition to finding a new coach, we are working to be in a position to upgrade the James A. Rhodes Arena and we will need to rely on support from the community to achieve that goal." Any guesses what LW meant by the underlined?
  5. It alleviates some salary cost on paper in the short term but those savings need to be plowed directly into the facility upgrades fund. It's not like a windfall that's going to ease a lot of pressure on the athletics budget.
  6. http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-coaching-changes-archie-miller-leaves-dayton-for-indiana-who-will-flyers-hire/ Akron Zips Out: Keith Dambrot The Zips lose a great coach at the mid-major level and now need to bring in someone who can keep the program atop the MAC. An ideal candidate would be John Groce, who thrived in the league at Ohio before heading to Illinois. Dayton’s Kevin Kuwik would also work, if he does not get offered the UD job after Archie’s departure to IU. Jeff Boals, who grew up less than 40 minutes from the area and just finished his first year at Stony Brook, would be worth a look as well.
  7. I'm not panicking but that was funny
  8. what matters is whether we can get hot in the MAC tourney as the 6 seed
  9. http://www.cleveland.com/sports/college/index.ssf/2017/03/keith_dambrot_reportedly_leave.html "When you're not happy after winning 26 and 27 games, you have to re-evaluate,'' Dambrot said when contacted late Monday night. "The one-bid league thing was really starting to wear on me and my staff. "This was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. I never could have made my comeback without Akron. Not many people get to coach for their alma mater. I will always be an Akron Zip."
  10. We will immediately launch a national search for our new basketball coach....
  11. We can't afford a bidding war on him...bottom line (pun intended).
  12. http://www.gozips.com/sports/wten/2016-17/releases/20170326se0rm1 Tennis is doing very well. Although in their 7-0 sweep of EMU I don't think an American played for either team. Oh well, it's nice that the MAC provides a good place for the Europeans to refine their game, get an education, and experience some USA.
  13. DUQUESNE MEETS TODAY WITH DAMBROT http://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2017/03/26/duquesne-meets-today-dambrot/
  14. JoJo....if the league doesn't give you a chance, maybe Team USA will.. http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Bobsled-Skeleton-Federation
  15. Unfortunately for them, he already makes almost $1 million / yr. at Akron.

  17. I've got to support the eastern G5 team @MSG...go UCF
  18. Well now that would have solved another facilities problem, wouldn't it. Next I suppose you're going to tell me we couldn't go to Div. III and remain in the MAC
  19. Yeah, but you're conveniently forgetting the other option of building a Div. III stadium instead
  20. You said bigger, faster, stronger...not best in the conference. Our football and basketball programs have different histories and obstacles.
  21. Wow. Now I'm not so sure that KD wouldn't have been taking a pay cut to go to USF.
  22. http://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/3/20/14959950/akron-football-2017-preview-schedule-roster
  23. And they are 13-0 at home. Time to break the streak
