YouTube Tom taking act to radio this morning
UAZipster0305 replied to Dr Z's topic in Akron Zips Football
The MAC should have a weekly show on STO or something. I bet they would get better viewership than some of the programming that is on there right now. Hell, the MAC's headquarters are in Cleveland so they could do it at little cost. Yes I did and they were talking about the Rifle team when I was listening to it. Never thought I would see the day when I could listen to Akron Rifle coverage on the radio. I must say, that is pretty awesome. You guys deserve the recognition. Here's to hoping the team makes it to the NCAA Tournament! -
Read my post on your "change" topic. Our duty to protest a program that is FUBAR supercedes everything including your mothers. And that's what I am talking about. Referencing Saving Private Ryan: Private Reiben: You wanna explain the math of this to me? I mean, where's the sense of riskin' the lives of the eight of us to save one guy? Captain Miller: Twenty degrees. Anybody wanna answer that? Medic Wade: Reiben, think about the poor guy's mother. Private Reiben: Hey, Doc, I got a mother, all right? I mean, you got a mother. Sarge's got a mother. I bet even the captain's got a mother. [he turns and looks at Miller, who has a bemused expression on his face] Private Reiben: Oh, well, maybe not the captain, but the rest of us got mothers. Corporal Upham: "Theirs not to reason why, theirs but to do and die." Mellish: La-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la, la-la. What is that supposed to mean, Corporal, huh? We're all supposed to die, is that it? Captain Miller: Upham's talking about our duty as soldiers. Corporal Upham: Yes, sir. Captain Miller: We all have orders, and we have to follow 'em. That supersedes everything, including your mothers. Corporal Upham: Yes, sir. Thank you sir. Private Reiben: Even if you think the mission's FUBAR, sir? Captain Miller: Especially if you think the mission's FUBAR. Corporal Upham: What's FUBAR? Mellish: Oh, it's German. [he chuckles derisively] Mellish: Yeah. Corporal Upham: Never heard of that. I also enjoyed this one: [Miller purposely draws fire] Sergeant Horvath: Captain, if your mother saw you do that, she'd be very upset. Captain Miller: I thought you were my mother.

Only a Can't State Thug...
UAZipster0305 replied to UAZipster0305's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
Some players are brain dead on arrival. This affliction is especially common in those who hail from Can't. Retiring from your lucrative, playboy job and lifestyle in protest? So you can go and do what, park cars for the rest of your life? Only a Can't alum... -
I think akron football and akronad are pimps for the UA Department of Athletics. You guys must think we are all suckers because we have a sports connection to northeast Ohio. Well, your football team is lousy, and unlike Browns fans, I will remain interested but not perpetuate such an embarrassment by not spending money on your product. This doesn't make me a fair weather fan because I remain interested and supportive. It makes me intelligent for not wasting my financial and emotional resources while attempting to uphold (if not salvage) pride in my alma mater. Next time, listen to the fans who pay your salary. Get a real coach with real head coaching experience and not some "recruiter" from a big name failed program who has connections to the guy who hired him. And this "it takes time" crap is unacceptable. It takes a pretty extreme level of incompetence to sink a MAC program that has the facilities advantages and support from the administration that UA does. Facilities and a coach who wins games are the best recruiting tools. How come I never heard Brian Kelly referred to as a "recruiter?" Why did his teams never take even a minor step back in his first year? Oh yeah, that's right, because he's a coach, not a "recruiter." We lost to a 1-AA school at our gorgeous brand new stadium, have not been competitive in terms of winning a I-A game yet, and are the laughing stock of all of college football. We are the worst team in a very bad conference. The only change we got was from sub-par with JD to rock bottom with iCoach. In the spirit of the election season, that is not the kind of change I want whether it be Democrat or Republican. Nonetheless, akron football and akronad still promote the same kind of propaganda that is on political talk radio 16 hours per day. Give it a rest guys. You can't polish this turd of a season, and the "wait 'til next year" stuff only works with Cleveland fans. We are from AKRON!!! You should actually learn from the politicians. When asked about Akron Football, your reply should involve a resounding and enthusiastic reference to Akron Futbol. Otherwise, no coverage is good coverage. We should all be thankful for the ABJ's level of indifference. See you at the soccer games.

Zips Vs. Michigan (soccer)

I want another classic quote from the UM coach similar to last year's. Something to the extent of...sometimes a thorough butt kicking cleanses the soul. Classic! -
Was a Zips Blogger Drunk When He Wrote This?

It's because I think we'll go 2-10. At this point, I don't know if we would win 2 games the rest of the way against a purely I-AA schedule. I guess that is pretty much what the MAC is, but still...WMU, Temple, Ball State, Miami, Buffalo? Any other year I'd say we should win 3 of 5, but not this season. The good part is that there won't be anyone at the final two home games to witness the debauchery. What are the chances that iCoach will resign? -
suspend head-hunting harrison. the NFL's mandatory removal of the game of Cribbs and Massaquoi rewards helmet to helmet headhunting and it's really stupid. I understand the safety issues with concussions, but we already have pink-skirt rules in the NFL anyway. Harrisson should have been flagged on the first shot on cribbs, and ejected for the second shot. Two players removed from the game because of that crap. Would you really have expected anything less from a Can't State alum?

This is embarrassing. I can't wait to read the Captain's review.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Ken Lolla and the University of Louisville worry me. If we have to play them, I hope it's at home.

iCoach has an opportunity to make history....
UAZipster0305 replied to Big Zip's topic in Akron Zips Football
Good points, but punctuation would be greatly appreciated. Yes, I would rather play for a I-AA National Championship on the field than get drilled by BCS scum under the illusion that we are on their same level. Boise St. is an enigma in competing for a national championship outside of the BCS just like our men's soccer team. We should embrace it for what it is and be thankful that our soccer team is as competitive as it is. The MAC, WAC, and Sunbelt have no chance of competing with the BCS schools. EVER. I would much rather see us drop to I-AA than continuing to pretend we are on OSWho's level in football. It brands our university as wannabe's and perenial losers. Imagine how the BCS schools would kick the crap out of each other if they didn't have four creampuff games per year as a "preseason" schedule before starting their conference games. That being said, there is no shame in being I-AA particularly if the other two conferences I mentioned dropped with us. Hell, C-USA isn't any good and should likely drop as well. The Mountain West is even only borderline BCS. There needs to be some major leadership among the non-BCS schools to stick together and create a more fair level of college football. I respect I-AA a lot more because the champion is determined on the field. -
Literally, LOL. Beautiful. This needs trademarked before Apple gets a hold of it.

iCoach has an opportunity to make history....
UAZipster0305 replied to Big Zip's topic in Akron Zips Football
I agree with everything....basically....and I've been posting it for a while. At this point, they shouldn't do it alone. The non-bcs schools/conferences need to find a way out of the mess the vast majority of them are in. They all need to get together and form their own division. How much more does everyone need to see? The game is over. 20 more years? Please..... IF the non-bcs schools/conferences can't do something in the next two years, then UofA needs to act unilaterally. OR, the MAC needs to act with the membership to make a move to I-AA. Two more years after this year is all they get. Enough is enough. Another division or I-AA are the choices. +1 -
Unfortunately, the wheels have fallen off this season and we're stuck watching the rest of the season wondering which of the remaining teams on the schedule will happen to play worse than us and land us a lucky victory. The answer: NONE. If we aren't able to beat a I-AA team at home and a miserable Can't squad, we won't be lucky with any other games. Flat out, we deserve 0-12. I think on offense, we should run three straight kneeldown plays to keep the clock running, rest the defense, and prevent turnovers and penalties, then punt. The last game may have gone more in our favor this way.

iCoach has an opportunity to make history....
UAZipster0305 replied to Big Zip's topic in Akron Zips Football
I floated this question. At the time and after losing to a I-AA, I was being quite serious although most members didn't take it that way. The UK and IU games lead me to believe the team had made some progress. I now seriously doubt that progress and see 0-12 on the wall. Sadly, the Info will be empty. Thank Porter for soccer! -
I was just going to point that out.

Newest Futbol Recruit
UAZipster0305 replied to Z.I.P.'s topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
Glad to have your family join ours. We look forward to watching DeAndre grow as a person and player while contributing on the pitch for the next few years. Go Zips! I'd like to add that we are also a university. So I look forward to his intellectual growth as well. -
At the rate we are going, it could be ten years. I'm not over exaggerating either. I can't see myself actually giving a crap more than two more years at this rate. It's just terrible. I love UofA, but I just can't take watching/following this football team much more. I've bee debating the past couple of years about what I should put my money towards at UofA. I don't see how my hard earned money given to the football program/athletic department is anything more than throwing good money down a hole. There are lots of causes at UofA I could give my money to. I'm going to have to start looking around. Have a nice evening. A picture says a thousand words. In this case, a portrait of trimmy10 and GP1. I need not say more.

WTF?! Crazy. I bet Coach Porter is fuming. At least we have OT to take this one back.

7,000+ fans at this game. Wow!

Whoever thought to add Simon Spelling as color commentator, kudos! The accent adds a lot to the listening experience, and he offers good insight.
