I am also not a UA alum, but my mother, brother, uncle, wife, etc. all went there. And I grew up downtown. Huge Zips fan. This is an interesting side topic. I've often wondered myself how many on the board are UA grads. It would be cool if the moderators could allow this kind of information to be entered into our Nation profiles. I also wish more people would include current location in their profiles.

Are you also a UA alum?...I assumed most people on this board are...I find it hard to believe that some of our biggest and best fans are only casual related to the university. What professional field are you in?

I was thinking about that, using coach Rowdies to help coach James making Zeke a zip. However, i am rethinking it since Mrs Zeke's mom said that he doesn't like too much attention. On a side note, if my name was Zeke, i would love to become a zip. "Zeke the Zip" it is like as if it was meant to be. It definitely sounds so much better than Zeke the pirate or Zeke the hoakie, ewww that last one is ugly....or Zeke the Panther!

As a current graduate student at Pitt and a former undergraduate and graduate student at UA, I can objectively say my experiences at UA were far superior. UA's campus and facilities are much nicer and I found the faculty to be better teachers who are more concerned with the students. Pitt's only advantage is that it performs more research (which shouldn't matter to an undergraduate varsity athlete).

The fact that you cite one specific play in the game is evidence that you don't see the entire picture. Can't simply has more talent than we do THIS YEAR, which is why we lost. True we didn't make our bunnies and FT's, but Can't beat us three times this year, which is enough proof for me.However, the program is in fine shape and is advancing. Can't will eventually experience a down turn due to instability. The law of averages guarantees that.

I'll assume you're speaking with too much emotion after a disappointing game. You're obviously a youngster because you don't seem to appreciate where this program was even just five years ago. There is nothing wrong with the guys KD recruits. They play hard, don't get into trouble, and graduate...and we've made it to the MACC two years in a row. Can't's team is based on winning now because they use JUCO's. With their coach leaving and a few players graduating (losing eligibility is more like it), Can't's program could be in the in a year or two. Our program on the other hand has long-term stability with KD and will continue to grow. Also, take a look at some of the mid-major programs that actually win games in the NCAA tournament...they have a strong team concept and nucleus of upperclassman starters. That's what our program is being built for. I'd really be disappointed if KD utilized Can't's program structure and won the MACC every couple years just to get flamed out of the NCAA tournament in the first round everytime.Yes, I thought this could be the year, but I think the program will continue to improve. Our MACC's and NCAA tournament wins are in the cards, but not for this year.I thought about starting a new thread thanking the seniors for being the foundation of a strong program, but let's not forget, our season is likely not over! We still have postseason play and that's something this program has only participated in a handful of times. We are moving in the right direction!

LosAngelesZipFan - One of these days I'd LOVE to say goodbye forever to Ohio winters BUT I can't stand the thought of not being able to drive 15 minutes to the JAR to watch our Zips. Same with football season as disappointing as those have been for the most part. Can't wait to make the drive north in a little while and feel for ya. Great to know there are Zips fans all around the country and as far away as LA and HI cheering Akron on. Have fun this afternoon watching the game. GO ZIPS!!!...and at least one in Pittsburgh

Not bad for a first cut. Thanks to the moderators for the financing/effort in creating this new feature. I love it!

Would love to see what the OU board has to say about this one!I was hoping OU would win and give Can't a long, physical game in the semi's, so that they are worn down if and when we play them in the finals.

content suggestions
UAZipster0305 replied to ZippyRulz's topic in Board Comments, Suggestions & Technical Support
There should also be a way to post the live chat from one hour prior to one hour after a game to a message board so that others who were at the game or could not interact during the game have a chance to catch up with the in-game commentary. -
I think it would definitely help for JT to join an NFL team that is affiliated with an area that JD recruits (i.e. Pittsburgh). A winning team would be nice too as I'd love to see JT play in the Super Bowl.(All this from a Dolphins fan!)

NEOCOM and UA to put training center in Akron?
UAZipster0305 replied to Zipsrifle's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
The Ohio Board of Regents must approve all program additions and changes for any state supported programs. This group oversees and inventories all other programs currently available in Ohio before considering to add another. To some extent, Case Western is even required to interact with this board.http://regents.ohio.gov/They would never allow UA to add its own medical school while keeping NEOUCOM. The best opportunity for UA would for NEOUCOM to be moved to Akron and incorporated as a school within the university. The addition of the training center, biomedical corridor, and an orthopedic research center are all positive signs that such a transition is beginning to happen. However, the other schools would never approve it as a pure coup. Therefore, I recommend UA forfeit its positions in the BS/MD program in exchange for a move of the medical/pharmacy school to campus and within the structure of the university. This would strengthen the opportunities for students, researchers, and the hospitals while also being attractive to the other universities in the consortium.NEOUCOM currently performs <$3million worth of research annually, which is by far the lowest of any medical school in the country. In part, this is due to the weak collaborative efforts with the hospitals and consortium universities. To put this in perspective, Harvard and Johns Hopkins have >$1billion dollars worth of research. Even good public schools like OSU and Pitt (where I am currently a student) perform around $400million worth of research. Hence, NEOUCOM provides an extremely poor return on investment. The only way it can be strengthened is to move the medical/pharmacy school to Akron and strengthen its relationship with collaborating hospitals and universities (especially UA). -
Don't say something like that unless you intend to share the details with those of us who weren't fortunate enough to be there.

Went to Cleats in Green because they said that they would have the game. They didn't get it, instead the screen kept saying "Program not purchased". What a bummer, spent $22.00 on drinks and never saw the game.Guess you don't go back there for a game anymore. As Zips fans, we need to make statements to these businesses by influencing their bottom line. You think it would be an issue if it were an OSU game?...I don't.

Main St apt construction
UAZipster0305 replied to ziptrumpet87's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
I wish this project was taking place in the lots directly across the street from Canal Park. Those lots are garbage and closer to the Polsky building and parking deck. -
I doubt Can't will be "in the hunt" for a win in this game!
-
So if Can't moved to the Big East or something where do you think that would put us?I don't even want to think of Can't moving out of the MAC before we do...especially to the Big East. I don't see it happening though because their football program and facilities are so far behind ours.

Easy there killer...I understand your passion for the game, but the vulgarity is not necessary and only diminishes the intellectual credibility of your post. Let's try to hold ourselves to higher standards than those hippies to the east.[MODERATOR EDIT] Sanitized these posts for the innocent ears & eyes.

Thanks for the info. Both recruits seem to be very strong players. At least we didn't lose the OHIO POY to OSU who had an almost miraculous run to the finals in the NCAA tournament this year. If Green gets home sick at UNM, I could see him transferring to UA.

Zips Add Massive OL

Joe, congratulations and welcome to UA! Sure we want you to play hard, but I in particular would also like to see you earn a degree. I'm sure some of the others on this board agree, but have neglected to say so.I look forward to seeing you on the field. -

This means our QB might actually have someone to throw to this coming season.
