  1. I brought this up weeks ago, but now that we are in and the conjecture more valid, who are the realistic matchups for us in the tourney and who are ideal opponents? Because we just got in last night and the brackets are announced at 6P today, the window of time for this discussion is tight.I see Florida State as a 3/4/5/6 seed depending on how they do against Duke today. We will likely be a 13-15 and in the same regional. Given the NIT win at FSU last year, I would love to play them again. The rosters are nearly the same, so the Zips should know they can win this matchup. Also, given the strengths of their programs and geographic locations, I would like to see the Zips schedule yearly matchups against Dayton, Duquesne, Cleveland State, and Niagra. Would make a very nice OOC schedule in addition to occasional Big 11/East programs. Great opportunites for fan/alumni roadtrips for away games too.
  2. Broke their string of 20+ win seasons...very satisfying.
  3. The way Miami plays, they won't be blowing anyone out.
  4. Is this the wakeup call the team needed to make a post-season run?...Let's hope so.
  5. Wow was I wrong.
  6. What a terrible 6 game stretch to end the season.
  7. No game suspension because is was not a fighting foul. According to the talking heads on tv.The only thing that didn't make it a fight was Nate's showing class and not retaliating. Had he done so, both would have been suspended for fighting. What a joke!...Throwing a punch is a one-sided fight.
  8. The MAC will never have a team that competes for a national championship.Replacing them with Temple was a bad thing. I would argue that even NIU is a misfit for the league at this point.I think adding Temple would have been a good thing provided they joined as a full member.Similarly, I like having NIU especially if it means having parity and adding Southern Illinois as a full member in the coming years (with them advancing their football program to I-A).I don't even know what conference Gonzaga is in or what other schools are members. They have made it to the national level in spite of their conference and so can UA. We already have in soccer and the pieces are in place for other programs to begin doing so as well.
  9. Other than UA, I have also attended two "Top 50" engineering schools including a Top 10. I will just say that one school was worthy and the other was by far not. UA compares very favorably with both. The rankings are based primarily on research production via expenditures and grad student enrollment and selectivity. The undergraduate rankings are minor modifications of those from the grad and based solely on reputation (which is guided by the grad rankings).I personally like having a chip on my shoulder and outperforming students from bigger schools when they think my education was inferior because it has an unfamiliar brand on it. If they only knew my unique perspective, they'd likely be questioning why they sacrificed so much ($$$, etc.) for their name brand school. That brand will only get your foot in the door somewhere...the rest is up to the individual in proving himself/herself. That latter is where UA alumni have an unexpected advantage.
  10. Blog space sin: You didn't post a link.Last week the projected winner of the MAC (UB) was setup with Florida State. I think that would be a great match up for us. Anyone else have a desired matchup for the NCAA Tourney provided we get there?
  11. 72 Roo, how do you know this. Please provide more detail.
  12. End of discussion.winning is fun, although if you're in a bad conference and you are winning, it's always in the back of your mind... but we aren't even dominating (yet ) so the whole discussion is moot.Let's start kicking some arse, and then let's b1tch about the conferenceI concur 100%. The only program that has the right to complain is men's soccer...and the conference isn't really holding them back...the stigma of being Akron without a long-standing tradition of being National Championship contenders is the limiting factor. With the exception of football, the conference will never hold us back so long as we perform well in our out-of-conference schedule against respected programs.
  13. Wish I could have seen Conyers' dunk!
  14. Not yet. It is delayed, so we'll see.
  15. I like this match up. As KD says, we aren't getting into the NCAA without winning the league. So, it is nice to have a road game in which we are favored to potentially contribute to a 20 win season. RPI is meaningless at this point and Valpo is a recognizable program. Go Zips!
  16. I love Frenchy!
  17. I hear something... Thanks, Sarge!Odd...it only works for me via Internet Explorer and not Firefox. (I loathe IE.)Great to hear the Zips up 17-14 at half though. What a score. Is this football?
  18. 2-1 with 15:31 left in the first half. This could end with a baseball score.
  19. Anyone know if the internet 1350 connection is working? In Pittsburgh and wanting to listen. Gametracker just isn't the same.
  20. If we run the 3-3-5 again and are a sieve on defense and lose several close games, I will be ready to crucify JD regardless of a few offensive turnovers. Will be patient and supportive until then though. The scheme should fit the talent, not the other way around. Any real coach knows that.

  22. ...and yet Bush wasn't taken? Surprising.
