good game so far. lots of action and akron is showing a lot of heart! should go down to the wire. tied at half.

you want examples ok.......over the course of past semester KD has said over and over again that Brett is not showing him enough during practice. He also has said that he is hard on him but only because he expects a lot from him. you don't practice well, you don't play. during the NIU game where he was 4-4 and looking good with the ball in his hands he gave up 6 points and left the rest of the team trying to pick up his slack on D as he was again lost. Brett tends to float a little on D and teams pick up on that and exploit it. since Akron doesn't have a big time shot blocker KD can't afford to keep him out there for extended periods of time. He will become a great player at Akron, it will just take some time.

UPDATE....... Rodney Etienne also transfered to Morgan State here's their offical website linkclick methis one is a shame, i thought he had some talent and could have competed for some serious playing time this year. this takes care of almost all the FLA recriuts from that class from either not making grades or transfering out.

click megood news for the zips, tough break (no pun intended) for this young man

i agree scout is by far the worst but i think rivals does an ok job. they at least try to keep up with the mid majors while scout and espn pretty much pushes them to the side. looked at the 06 overview and wow is it tough to read  The class is heavy on ... Linebacker. The Zips had trouble against the run, but still had one of the MAC's best defenses. Things should be better with 12 new defensive players led by the four linebackers. JUCO transfer Mickey Baker will be an immediate backup, while Derron Smith will be the best of the bunch down the road. The player who'll someday be a really big deal ... QB Sean HakesThe player you might care about this year ... RB Aaris ReedWhat it all means to the real world of college football ... The defending MAC champions came up with a diverse class looking for a little of everything after going for quality last year. There are some strong players here and there led by RB Aaris Reed, who could see starting time in place of Brett Biggs. The line got

great question ZW....... the defensive effort scares me. the guards have been very bad at picking up the ball in their transition defense and in the half court the big's very soft in post and have a hard time getting borads. for the rest of the season Akron needs to stick with the zone. that is the only time they have been ok in the half court. so they give up a few rebounds....they've been doing that already. i really think it's just a mentality and the youngesters need to step up. a few have asked why b. mcknight didn't come back in the game, it's becasuse he can't (or wont) guard anyone right now. KD was quoted as saying he wont play people who don't play D. i think the only thing that can save this team on the defensive side is the 1-3-1.

he split time at db and rb inbetween high school and akron. i think he would be better at corner but there will still be an adjustment period. also, pinky would have to step up before JD even considers the move. side thought; anyone think Williams figured his touches would be reduced and asked for the switch?
-
I think that would be great for them to do. Williams can still return kicks so the ball will still be in his hands. Johnson, Allen, and DK can handle the running back duties. On a side note; finally got some time to watch the highlight package on gozips.com and the two players that stood out to me was Bowser and Schuler. Bowser looks like a dynamic play maker who has all the tools. Schuler may not be the fastest player in the world but man is he nasty!!!! You need a few guys like that on your defense and he loves to hit. Also, Hassim looks like a project but man is he fast. Overall a very good class for Akron. A nice blend of size, speed, and toughness.

a theory with Britt is that he's waiting to see what Pryor does. assuming Pryor signs with either OSU or PSU I'd think he'd end up at Michigan. Two of his high school teammates changed their verbals and signed with MU and Britt did go on an official a week ago. If for some reason Pryor signs with MU then Akron could be back in play.

the WAC and MWC are pretty much out. it costs way too much money to travel to Akron if they aren't getting paid. That leaves Akron with CUSA, the Sun belt, IAA, and the service academies. those are the schools the should and are trying to get. but factor in conference presidents and schools at our level scheduling upper tier schools early in the season; it makes it very hard to fill a schedule. with the new stadium Akron will finally have a bargaining chip!

was able to listen to the last first hour interview and the jd interview. the bucknuts guys was asked about most of the big ohio verbals and on top of the bice comments said that fleming was in his top 20 for the state and could grow into a de. schuler was one of the hardest hitters in the state and pachuta is at a big ten/osu level. also said glimer was a sleeper. the jd interview was very possitive but he has to be. loved the fact that he said he went outside and watched them tear down the dorms! just a guess but the loi he could be waiting on: avery, pleasent, thompson, or torrence. -

wasn't looking for a vague response. does anyone know anything specific? should we take a chance on him? i think maybe so, even if it means him not playing his first year. let me put a disclosure on this: as long as the rest of the class are locks to qualify. -
here's an even better story on Hixon.click me
