looks like spring ball is set to resume this week! here's some links from gozips.spring ballhere's the updated roster.....insert Da-Von Moore jokes as he's on the rosterrosterthings that stood out to me; ryan bain will live up to the hype. j.d. hardly ever singles out a player but has repeatedly done so with him. he also said that they are trying players at different pos and are looking at the secondary. translation b will at corner. nice to look at the roster, no glaring omissions and was pleasantly surprised to see Al-Teric Balaam back on the roster. and really glad to start to see some depth at all pos.

first off, i really don't see jimmy leaving akron for a couple of reasons. if he goes to another d-1 school he'll have to sit out a year and probably wouldn't be on track to gain that 5th year back. If he goes D-II (please correct me if wrong) he'll be able to play but won't be able to get that 5th year. If he stays and hits the books he's got two more years. I liken him to Mike Scott and think with a more up tempo style will play better. with that said i agree with both sides here. skip is right that most frosh don't come in and contribute right away but i do look for the red shirts to adjust quickly. i also agree that sullivan and mcClanah will most likely red shirt but don't know enough about parrish. mcness was never a true 1 and played out of pos this year. he will be much better/comfortable at the 2. the more i watch roberts play, the more i love his game. not only will he be though to stop with the ball in his hands but will be a lock down defender for years to come. with stewart, roberts, and humpty, akron will be the quickest team in the mac and if the big's step up....they'll have the potential to be one of the most balanced teams.the mcnight's can be scary good and nate will take on the silent leader role next year. the schedule will be tougher next year but the mac will be down. 20 wins for the 4th year in a row has a nice ring to it!

best batch of seniors in the past decade if not ever at akron......thanks for your efforts guys!

keep in mind that williams played both rb and db at valley forge and was mostly recruited to play db in college. he will adjust well and will be a playmaker on d. i really hope rodgers steps up and i have a feeling that he'll be the starter no later than week 2, if not sooner.

here's an update from the abj click melooks like tate ran a 4.26     and jabari ran a 4.5. didn't mention much about nate but the gozips.com article notes many worked out. many scouts were on hand. if anyone else has any first or second hand info would love to hear it. with tate running such a fast 40 time akron may see 3 players drafted!

Akron can't add any more players for next year so the juco rout is out and will be for some time. I am not too concerned about this team. I liken it to when the team had to play small when Wood went down. C. McNight can play the 5 if needed but they will need to pressure the ball more. With the increase in guards and speed they should be able to do that. As long as Bardo/Sweitch can give 20-25 mins of solid d they will be fine. B. Mcnight is a nightmare to match up against as is his brother. Roberts really reminds me of Ced and McNess will play much better with the ball out of his hands (similar to Dials earlier in his career). The point will be in much better shape with Stewart. I'd look for Parrish and Sully to redshirt and Nikola and McClanahan to add to the rotation showing sparks from time to time. The future looks good to me, this will be the fastest, most athletic team K.D. has had and will be able to play that pressure D that he likes. 19 wins and a lot of noise in the tourney would be a safe bet.

got to agree.....i hate their ugly ugly pee yellow shirts! Q is a thug and there's nothing to do on that campus unless you count the two crappy bars they have. the chicks are skanks (maybe that's not so bad ) and did i mention their shirts are the lamest shirts in all of college sports????? of and their student section has no original material...props to the rowdies! :screwks: :screwks: :screwks: :screwks: :screwks: :screwks:

it's really 5 to play 2. i know brooks is a local kid but he is coming to akron as a walk on. i wish the kid th best but i don't see him playing. stewart, if healthy will be the point with either roberts or mcness starting at the two. depending on how quick the other's develop will dictate how much playing time they get. my guess is that sullivan will red shirt and humpty will take on the ced role. this kid has star potential though! also, keep in mind that K.D. likes to run three guard sets. could see that with the mcnights or nate and bardo out there. not a bad problem to have

you are charged a service fee any way you go. even at the box office at the Q.

this kid is great with the ball in his hands. i thought they were going to take a L as Beuford got back to back calls (the block on humpty and the non charge call) but humpty stepped up! looking forward to seeing him play next year. will be nice to have a guard that can get his own shot off at will! with him, roberts, stewart, and the kid from riverside, akron will be a much quicker team
-
just got off the phone with the Q. if you are looking for the cheapest way to go to the game here it is: if you bring 2 5 packs of kraft mac and cheese they will give you a ticket to the game. that is what my group is planning on doing.

i didn't like the hard rock yesterday. i'll be with a group of 10+ at the lizard. should be a blast! hope to see you there!

from the abj todayNick Dials had six assists and no turnovers (and one in-game taunt, when he waved his hand in front of his face and yelled ''facial'' to a defender after his only 3).yep, that is why nick is on the list. got to love it!

i've been saying that he was entered into the witness protection program mid way through the season.

Big win by the Zips today! was never really close. With Wood healthy CMU didn't have a chance. Other than Wood, B. McNight and Roberts played great today. With Ced in foul trouble Roberts showed that he truly is a Ced clone. McNight is a nightmare match up and continues to get better. If we can get anything out of Quade in the next two games I like our chances! Also, props to dials for playing with in the game and looking to dish rather than take a ton of shots.BIG BIG WIN!!!!!! C YA FRIDAY!

These are the little slights that iritate me...

wouldn't they need permission from the AP to change it then? i agree that the U should be in the article but am unsure of complete protocol. -

just a question here. since this is an AP release not a ABJ release, can the ABJ change the article? -
I will assume the lizard is where most will be going but haven't seen anything saying that it was Akron's official place to go. I am down town quite a bit and did see the Clevelandar had an Ohio banner outside and Flannery's was still set up for Can't. If my memory is correct Harry Buff's was Miami's last year. Anyone have any other info on this or is anyone else going to a different place?

Found a link showing Akron's pro day as 3/19. The only other major school having their pro day is Texas so there should be a decent amount of scouts on had.click me

quote from mac rhodesDue to these circumstances, the University of Akron will not play at the University of Kentucky in the 2008 season, nor will the Wildcats come to Akron in 2009 to open the University’s new InfoCision Stadium. Although we worked very hard — in conjunction with the Mid-American Conference, to adhere to the signed contract from June of 2004, we regret that a solution to this matter could not be resolved. We offer our sincerest apologies to the University of Kentucky for any inconveniences and thank Kentucky athletics director Mitch Barnhart for his cooperation.translation: the mac still doesn't have their act right with scheduling. you think they would have figured this out after last years mishaps but it doesn't look like it. that being said this is an ok schedule, MUCH better than last years. you also could see history repeating itself with a freshmen qb starting at camp randell....that seemed to work out ok for the zips in the past.....
