That's my school. I didn't go to any other school. I try to feel excited about the buckeyes, Notre Dame, and other schools...it just didn't work. I guess i should put it this way: I would be more excited about the zips winning a MAC championship once every 20 years than any other team winning their conference 20/20 years. Therefore, i would keep doing my part in sending my checks and screaming my lungs out hoping that each year will be that 1/20 year. When they don't win, at least i have the peace of mind that i did what i had to do.

I hope we won't have to talk about Bardo's PT anymore. Nothing against Bardo the person. I wish him the best of success in his future, but basketball wise, and for the sake of this team, Bardo's PT should be NONE.

I am with you GP1. Can't blame Ianello for this loss.

Any zipsnationers going to be in Dayton tomorrow? if so what section(s)?

I totally disagree Gozips. Nobody "dislikes" the flushes more than I do but in OOC basketball games, I turn my heart off and let my brain take over. The outcome is usually me rooting for MAC teams for RPI purposes.

Steve Zakuani - career move?
Valpo Zip replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
If he was Obama's aunt he would already be a citizen....and have free housing! These politically "smart" comments are really uncalled for on this forum. -
I agree with pretty much all what you said DIG. Egner seems to be the real deal. This guy has the size, the muscles and the athleticism of a D1 starter at any Top 20 program. He has the athleticism of Quade Milum with the footwork of J-Wood and the toughness of Matt Futch. If he can develop a mid-distance jumper, he will be a total nightmare for oppositions. Abreu is a nice floor general but he's a huge liabilty on defense. Needs some work there. Nitro seems to be filling the shoes of Linhart and Conyers. It is too early to tell but he seems to be stepping his effort up. Diggs has an explosive first step and some NBAish moves. Unfortunately, he needs to work a lot on his ball handling skills and deffense. Zeke, seems a lot more comfortable and that baby hook shot is almost impossible to deffent against (at least that's what i hope) Steve and D-rob quiet games, did not exceed expectations but did not disappoint either. Nik, couldn't keep his promiss for one week. Got emotional again and lost it at the first test. Bardo, by now, you should know what to expect and that's exactly what you're getting.

Steve Zakuani - career move?
Valpo Zip replied to Zip_ME87's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
That's a bummer. I thought there was a process for expedited citizenship award for national interest...but i can be wrong. Good luck Stevo and Congo, except when you're playing the good guys. Note to Bob Bradley: start filing for Darren Mattock's citizenship today to avoid being in the same situation few years later. -
Steve Zakuani - career move?

I think that he'll be playing for the US team because, with all due respect, he wouldn't get a spot right now on the english squad...and i can't see him picking congo (i think he never played there) over the country where he lives and plays. -
So how are the Polar Bears looking this year? They're very very young. No seniors and only 2 juniors on the team. They have a great 2nd year coach in John Rhoades who worked with Geno Ford under Tim O'Shea at OU. So we'll see. Thanks for your interest and appologies to those who don't care about them bears

I work for a D3 school in the Ohio Athletic Confernce (the conference in which John Caroll Competes). I get to see them at least twice every year. In the last 2 years, they have been the team to beat in the conference and they made the NCAA touramnet both years. They have a 10 player rotation and they use their depth real well. They have 2 sets of 5 players each. One set comes in for another every 4-5 minutes of play keeping them fresh the whole game. They apply full court pressure and run like there is no tomorrow. All that being said, they're still a D3 school and the zips should have a nice walk in the park.

Coach Porter is tweeting an appology
Valpo Zip posted a topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
From coach Porter's twitter account: "After 40 games w/o a true loss(pk's vs UVA) the unthinkable happened. CSU-2 Akron-1. Sorry to our alumni, fans and Ak rowdies supporters." I cannot believe that Coach Porter is appologizing for losing a game. This guy sets the bar waaaay to high and day after day he is showing what a real asset he is to our program. My question is for other coaches with twitter account (wink Wink), if Coach Porter appologizes for losing 1/40 games what are you guys supposed to do for losing 8/8 games ? give back your salary? how about you forfeit the remaining 4 years of your contract? -
When was the last time the zips defense broke a long pass? without a pass interference call, that is.

He can't play for the US team with a green card. Players must hold the citizenship of the countries they play for. He will have to wait around 5 years for that to happen, unless the immigration laws have some sort of expedited process for immigrants with national interest.

My favourite quote of the day: OSU coach:" the referee decided to give a red card, it could have been a yellow" It could have been a yellow... in a prison league maybe (courtesy of Ross Gellar)

Are the rowdies going to be in Columbus this Wednesday? It will be a shame not to have at least few hundreds to cheer for the # 1 team when playing only 2 hours away from home. You know the Buckeyes fans will be ready hoping to beat the #1 team in the state...err the nation. I am making the trip with 3-5 friends.

Not trying to pick a fight with any of the "too sensitiive" people on this board, but to answer your question, think about it this way: If you had job offers at different work places and one of those places went and fired 3 of their employees at your same position, would that make you lean towards the other places?

Ennis verballed to the zips at some point in time and then backed up after what happened to Sullivan, Steward, and Humpty. I thought that this was worth mentionning.

As much as i love Zippy, I can't say that i disagree with the statement: "Originally, Zippers after a rubber overshoe. Really? A rubber overshoe?"

Athletic Department's Successes
Valpo Zip replied to MaxZIP's topic in General UA & Campus Discussion
I agree with all what is said above and i add: I like the additional video dimension. Have you seen the youtube clips at the ends of gozips.com story about the VCU soccer game. I would like to see those clips with each soccer, football and basketball story. TW is very personnable and always has time to listen to what fans have to say. Seeing his family docked in Blue and Gold at events doesn't hurt either. -
Does anyone else besides me think this is totally pathetic?

2009 Soccer Attendance

Keep in mind that multiple games were sold out and fans were turned down. If we increase our capacity, those numbers will improve. -

Thanks Zeke's mom for the good news. And people who live in Akron, do something to entertain the big guy darn it -
Ennis opens up recruitment

Wow! I should not check zipsnation before going to bed. Recently, all the news are of the type that make you loose your sleep. If this is true, some people should loose their jobs.
