  1. Gozips, no need for bitterness here. We know that losing coach Boals hurts but why can't we be classy fans, thank the guy and wish him luck? He can't be a great person if he stays with us and than a drakula, evil, no ethics, cash hunter just because he moved on to a better opportunity. What is wrong with changing jobs for more money? won't you do that if you have a chance?I am sure KD is selling this point in his new search to fill the position. You can go after ambitious young coaches and tell them that Akron is a great place to use as a stepping stone. You come here, work hard for 3 years and you move on. Win-win situation in my opinion.
  2. We all knew coach Boals was not going to be here forever. His departure is just like death, we all know it is coming but we don't want to think about it and when it happens, it hurts... a lot. I am not surprised coach Boals has left, i am actually surprised he is not head coach at Ohio yet. What are the bobcats thinking? Now it is time for us to move on, and the one who trained Shaka and Jeff can train Rick and Cedrick.I'm with you Zeke's mom, i'm with you. Also, do you think coach Joyce maybe interested in starting a college career?
  3. Mark me up for that one. I am not a Rowdy though... do oldies count?
  4. I hope we will see a lot of these teams on our OOC schedule next year.
  5. Do they have two non felons on their team? Unless you mean the walk-on Cameron Joyce and the waterboy
  6. I am honestly expecting us to be next year regardless of what zeke does. Think about it. We only lost Nate (not that he was not important), but on the other side, we have more seasonned and experienced (C. McKnight, B. McKnight, Roberts, and McNeese), we also have returning (Humpty, Nik, and McLanahan)-(freshman mistakes), and that is huge. When i think about it, the added experience alone should make up for Nate's absence and give us a return trip to the NCAA tournament. Now the addition of Zeke, Sullivan, Parish, and Steward is definitely welcome but that should be the icing on the cake not the cake itself. In other words, if Zeke and the other freshman cannot contribute in their first year (unlikely), we should win the mac. If they do contribute (likely), watch out.
  7. That's it, I'm done. Sorry for the trouble.
  8. Dave,Can you remind me of the last time you saw Swiech playing poor deffense and costing us a basket?I can remember multiple occasions when Bardo did. That's what's not convincing.
  9.  Where shall i look?
  10. Sorry gozips, I disagree. I am not after the coaches here, with the way things are going with the program, I lift my hat to KD and his staff. I never been a prouder zip and they have my 100% support. Now that this is clear, the Swiech/Bardo thing has bothered me the whole season and i brought it up on this board multiple times and i am sure some people are sick of reading it. However, no one was ever able to give me any convincing answer. So here we go, one last time.We have seen Swiech exclusively in garbage time situations, in these few minutes, he dominated... yes he dominated (rebounded, blocked shots, dunked, and got the crowds on their feet). He never looked like a Pillsbury doughboy, i know, i know he was playing garbage time, but this was the only chance he was given. On the other side, Bardo couldn't rebound, couldn't dunk, and couldn't make a basket to save his life. That includes both competitive and garabage time minutes. Now, if i was KD, seeing how the first guy, Bardo couldn't develop anything after the first 10 games (+whole year before), wouldn't you give a chance to the second guy who never ever got a minute?Gozips, can you or anyone else point one mistake that you saw from Swiech during his playtime? game after game Conyers and Bardo kept making mistake after mistake and stupid decision after another and they kept seeing playtime, while the guy who only showed good things in his rare minutes kept riding the bench as if KD wants him to fail or transfer out. Does that make any sense? no it doesn't. But i can't find any other explanation.
  11. I'm not sure how that excellent college level coaching has worked with Bardo and Swiech... but i hope zeke will be a different story.
  12. I am just trying to immagine the reaction of the crowd when Zeke comes into the game 6 minutes into the first half of our first home game next year.GameChanger should have a video camera on hand.
  13. I am with the captain on this one. If we can guarrantee a MAC championship year in year out, that will be great. However, why would you kill the season between (Nov-Feb) and Just play in March every year?Unless we play a competitive OOC schedule and run for an at large bid, then why play the regular seasson? How would you convince recruits to come here and practice the whole year if you're not going to play a tough competitive season allaround?Whether we beat St Francis by 20 or by 25 will not make any difference with recruits, selection committee or Joe Akron. Beating a good team will.
  14. Is that the first time you see Bardo's line? You add to that no boxing out and no significant defense...
  15. X1x2Third time is a charm.
  16. Rome wasn't built in one day. This season was a great step towards greatness. As long as we keep growing and getting better recruits, we can only get better. Now Dambrot and the boys have to prove that this year wasn't a fluke. Dancing every year must become a norm if we want to attract those quality recruits. I am already curious to see how KD will schedule for next year. Oh, and before i forget, Thanks for the great 4 years Nate, we will miss you.
  17. Is there a way for us (non travelers) to watch the whole game or would we have to just watch 3 minutes from each game on Thursday?
  18. How many monkeys did we get off our back tonight? How many lessons did we learn tonight? Here are some reflections/questions for discussions, feel free to add to the list1-You can win with quality people, no need to recruit thugs (hint hint).2-The preseason poll and the media's rankings doesn't mean squat.3-Nate did not only get a 1000 points, he is setting a # of games record, and he is also the tournament's MVP.4-Joe Akron has no reason not to get excited about Akron BBall anymore. We are over the hump.5-How many MAC championships do you see in the zips near future?6-I expect a 14-15 seed in the big dance, what do you think? why
  19. Way to go Jenna! Now that we have 2 national champions in individual sports. Third time is a charm, right? A team sport is next... Men's soccer next year?
  20. I totally agree with Dave. Blaming the refs for our losses is childish and a a sign of a loser. After a loss, we tend to ask ourselves:1 - Could we have won if they reversed that certain call, the answer maybe yesBut then ask yourselves:2 - Could we have won if we boxed out, took better care of the ball, etc..., the answer is always yesSo while we have no control over 1, we totally control 2, so let's blame ourselves for losses.
  21. Architect!? I thought he was an importer/exporter... or maybe just an importer
  22. Three points to winning the game. Most of you have covered the first two:1-Feeding the ball inside, the three can help open up the zone for you but you can't hoist a three every possession and expect a win.2-Rebounding the ball3-Avoid dumb fouls. This team has been a fouling machine. Especially with the great MAC officiating. You know they're going to call every touch so adjust your play accordingly. And mainly, when you commit a foul, make sure the fouled player doesn't get a continuation. I counted at least 8 "and one baskets" against Toledo.
  23. What did he say?
  24. Oh god! i am not sure after this play who do i love the most Bardo or Damrot?
  25. 7 and ones so far for toledo, 21/45 points. Still counting
