This is the only school i attended, the only place were i was allowed to attend games for free (with student id), and is therefore the only university i will cheer for.To me, buying a shirt and hat and watching a game on TV does not make you a fan. Attending games in the stadium, traveling with the fans in a bus, and then screaming your lungs out when your team wins and crying your eyes out when your team looses, now that makes you a fan.Being with the ak-rowdies was one of the best things i did in my life. Some of my friends decided to stay home and watch big 10/big east teams on TV, they will never understand what they missed.

Caleb said the following:Today, we were not at our best, but we still mannaged to win this one. you know why? it is because of all of you... you are the best fans in the world.

Wow! what a game. Even my wife who hates soccer said that she enjoyed this game.We dominated the first half and scored a goal. It seemed like OSU was defending by 9 to keep the score and not receive more goals. In the stands, around 150 rowdies and 50 other zips fans were having a blast with less than 60 quiet buckeye fans to match them.Second half, totally different story. Another 100 buckeyes fans showed out of nowhere (they probably were dragged from their dorm rooms at halftime). On the field, first 5 minutes OSU scores 2 goals and we're down by one. Rowdies are little bummed and the buckeyes fans are going nuts.We tie the score and 5 minutes later they score again (down 3-2)We tie the score with around 20 minutes left and it seems like we're heading to over time.At the 6-7 minute mark, we score the winner and you can immagine what we did in the stands. The post game celebrations were awesome, i wish football and bball teams would come celebrate with their fans the way soccer team does. Even coach Portercame to the Rowdies and gave a little victory speech. The rowdies had a post game cheer/song that i couldn't memorize: it talks about OSU hitting their chest and thinking they are the best and then ends with ohio state you suck you suck you suck. If any Rowdy can type up the lyrics of that cheer, that will be really appreciated.

Super Tuesday .. er .. Wednesday

Only one day passed so far??? 9 more to go? time seems to be passing very slowly.Did we have to do that daylight saving thing yesterday? we would have been one hour closer now. -
I totally agree on point #1. Point #2 is a different scenario all together. Talk to anyone in the athletic department. The biggest cost for an athletic program IS scholarships and the biggest culprit is football. 22 less football scholarships would be a BIG money saver for the AD. I would hardly call it peanuts. That said, there is little sense in dropping to IAA after everything that has been invested in this program. It would be like John McCain or Barack Obama coming out tomorow morning and saying that after years of campaigning and spending millions of dollars they are dropping out of the race for President 2 days before the election. Doesn't make any sense. If we talk numbers, a scholarship is worth around $10k/year in tuition and fees and an additional $9k/year in room and board so 22 scholarships are worth around $400k/year. That is just one of the paycheck games we play per year. So peanuts is a good way to describe the savings.

The graduate assistantship usually involves a tuition waiver (you still pay the fees) and a stipend (room or board not included). As an engineering grad assistant, my stipend was 13k in the masters program and 16k in the Ph D program. I know a fellow Ph D candidate in the college of education and his stipend is 11k.So, i don't know the exact answer to your question but that is the grad. assistantship ballpark

I want the Cleveland Cavs to win tonight. I don't care about either Buffalo or Ohio.

I agree with you that only 30% of our student body is living on campus with another 15% living in private properties within walking distance from campus. That puts us at 45% which is around 11,500 students. If half of those show up at a free of charge Div I football game in their backyard, we are talking about 5000-6000 students per game. That's almost 4 times of what we have right now.

I don't think he's back yet. But yeah... as soon as you come back GoZips, please be as detailed and long as possible.

Thanks for the update zips win. That's really sad to hear about Swiech. I had high hopes for him.
-
Can someone please attend and give us a detailed report with a lot of pictures?

My 4-year-old daughter is definitely NOT happy for them. She was planning to marry him herself! I think i've seen your daughter holding a love sign on the sidelines during games last year or is that another broken heart little lady?

I couldn't disagree more. We MUST win at EMU and that still doesn't mean anything for the rest of the season. EMU is a horrible team and beating them isn't a reason to pat our backs. You're just feeling the heat because I'm closing in on you in total number of posts Damn it Johnny zip! you caught me there . I agree that if we loose to EMU then we are definitely a sub .500 but if we win it (which we should), it still doesn't mean anything.uakronkid, which games are the ones that we won and we shouldn't have? aren't all the teams we've beaten terrible bottom 10 teams?

With all due respect to the former zips, i can't root against the brownies. By the end of each browns game, i am mad and swearing not to watch another browns game ever. By Thursday-Friday of the following week, i can't wait to see the browns again. I guess i'm crazy... i don't know... i can't explain it myself.
-
Look forward to seeing you again. Can you make it to one of the last games at the Bowl? No! they're both on work nights
-
Looks like you guys had a blast, well before the game at least.I wish i could make it. Next time.

We've had three wins this year and all of them are against teams that have been in the ESPN bottom 10 list or that waiting list. What does that say about us?For future years, we need to schedule at least 6 games against bottom 10 teams per season and then pet ourselves on the back because, you know, we're bowl eligible.

In the last Saturday ever at the rubber bowl. The last homecoming game there ever. BG commits multiple turnovers, doing all they can to hand us the game. We still refuse to win it. Unbelievable We go into the third quarter with a 13 points lead, we still mannage to loose the game. Simply amazing.

5 minutes into the second half. Akron is leading 1-0 a goal by ampaipitakwong(spelling?) in the 18th minute.

I thought the zipszone was mostly audio streams. Do they have video feeds often?

Thanks ZippyRulz

Any chance for the poor guy (away from Akron) to see the game?
