I just want to iterate what ZipWatcher said:We will not be asking questions or contacting recruits or their families. However, the families (Hint Hint) are still welcome to post and keep us informed about the news. Did i say that they're welcome to keep us informed? i meant to say that they are really realy... really welcome to keep us informed.

We still have no reason whatsoever to say that these girsl did anything stupid. All what we know is speculations from someone who heard somewhere that they might have done something bad... and bad is relative. I was hardly able to swallow McCoy's situation but i convinced myself that maybe it was her fault, but now with another four player who were promoted as the best recruits in the program history, i am starting to think that coach Kest may be drawing the line in the wrong place.I am seriously concerned about the status of this program, if i am a high school prospect and i am recruited by coach Kest, the first thing that will come to my mind will be that she's probably a discipline Nazi (a.l.a soup Nazi) that i don't want to keep up with. You add that to the fact that the program has been in the dumpster ever since it was started, and there goes our recruiting hopes.I don't know how does Mack feel about this, but what is going on with our w bball program is really really bad.
-
What on earth is happening with that program? Everytime we start dreaming about a promising player, they get removed from the team.No reason is ever revealed. I still don't know why was McCoy kicked out last year.
-
Darn it, I was hoping the big news would be that he still had some eligibility left and regretted missing the college experience. lol... sorry MDzip, we're out of scholarships next year... he'll have to walk-on for a year or two (depending on Zeke Marshall's decision)

Thanks Mods for a great job!

I totally agree. This board is a great thing to have and credits go to the founders. Is it possible that you guys tell us how that whole thing started, where you guys met and started this idea and how it developped? Also, obviously there is $ invested to keep this board up.I suggest having a rotation of volunteers periodically covering the costs rather than the same people paying every year. -
I'm concerned about next year's recruits

Cedrick, Quade, Dials, and Goddard haven't played a minute under Hipsher. J-wood did. -
Guys! please look at the title of this thread. If you haven't figured it out, this is a farewell thread. Have you ever been to a farewell party, retirement, funeral etc... You only go to those events if you have nice things to say. Otherwise you simply don't show up.Same here, if you feel that you appreciate what the seniors did and you want to thank them, please do so. Otherwise, skip over to the next thread or start a new thread discussing whatever you think of so and so.Here are my 2 cents:J-Wood is the absolute best player i have ever seen in a zips uniform (including Romeo, Dru, Hipsher, and Rashon Brown). Cedrick brought a new level of athletism and speed to the team. great personality, accepting the 6th man role in his junior year shows what a great guy he is. I hope the zips will have a great guy to represent them in the world of national sports media.Quade can be credited for making zips bball much more entertaining with his dunks and block shots. Entertainment is a very important factor in attracting attendance.Dials is a great player, leader, and role model. Choosing Akron over OSU is a decision i hope he does not regret. I am sure that KD can use him as a recruiting tool and maybe keep him on the sidelines.Goddard made some of the games much more entertaining. Every shot he made meant the world to some fans and the rowdies definitely love the peanut butter Goddard time. He can proudly tell his kids in the future that he is one of the elite few who get to play D-1 college bball.Thank you all.

I hate this time of the year as i have to start counting the days till next November. However, 2 weeks ago, things were looking bad and i felt that i had nothing to wit for next November. Things look so much better now. The Mcknight brothers are looking like studs now while it seemed that they couldn't contribute anything much a month ago. Nate is a lock at his position and I like Darryl Roberts at the 2.Other than that, things look vague. Conyers is a big Question mark and i am not sure i like McNeese that much. I am affraid he is transforming into a Goddard type of player (I know he's not that, but he has a lot of work to do).Humpty, Steward will hopefully be ready to contribute and please oh please Sweich, learn the system fast. Sweich will make the difference next year, depending on his performance, we will either be an average or top MAC team.

This game was so winnable. I would say a guarranteed win if played at home. This is why teams won't come play us at home.Blowing a 10 points lead with 8 on the clock is just ridiculous. Reminds me a lot of the Winthrop games. This program is moving in the right direction. 3 years ago, we couldn't win at buffalo. We should now have a better name reputation and respect. we should be able to pull a better schedule.I would love to say a lot of A10 teams, It was def a pleasure playing Temple, Dayton, and Umass. MVC also is a good conference to play with. Add in a good tournament with Winthrop, VCU and the BB buster game, we should have a very good OOC schedule. As long as we don't screw it with cupcakes.
-
They're totally pathetic. Unfortunately, i am not enjoying this because if they suck that much, what does that say about the conference they dominated? I am affraid that no Mac team will ever get a 9th seed anymore.

If you can't see that WMU would have a legit gripe being left out of this year's post season, after their 20-win season where they beat a top-25 team, beat Akron (NIT) by 20 and beat Miami (CBI)...you'll never "get it."I guess i "won't."They did beat 3 good teams and they also lost to 3 horrible teams. Their RPI is terrible. Is there any team with a lower RPI than them who got an at-large?
-
WMU not being invited to a postseason tournament is not even comparable to our snub last year.We were 26-7, they are 20-12. We play in the Mac East, they play in the west.We lost our tournament final on a prayer shot, they didn't even make it to the final. As far as their schedule, they were so inconsistent they did beat a couple of half decent teams but they got killed by some of the absolutely worst teams:1- Lost to RPI 223 northwestern at home2- Lost to RPI 224 Iona3- Lost to RPI 237 EMUI don't remember us losing to any team with RPI 200+ last year. And also their RPI is a freaking 119 while ours (last year) was 67.This comparison is not even valid.

Apparently, making somebody pregnant when you're freaking 15, drinking when you're 19, and driving with 0.13 in your blood makes a hero by the ABJ's standards.http://www.ohio.com/sports/16807286.html?page=1&c=y

So can we say that Conyers is transferring at the end of this year?
-
With the NIT fun going on, I forgot all about that other thing.

You know, that CBI tourney where you can try to purchase a win (at home) for $60K like OU did!Still trying to verify this, but this is what I heard:Attendance:Virginia 4,000ODU 2,000Ohio 1,100Capacity:Virginia 14,593ODU 8,424Ohio 13,080If OU was selling tickets @ $12, that means they lost around 50k in this game. -
As a Can't State fan, I would like to congratulate UA on a very nice win last night over FSU. I thought they were in trouble when they blew that big 1st half lead, but they held it together and Dials was great in the OT. Good win for the MAC as a whole.UNLV is the next victim...Thanks Treeoman,It seems that the MAC is doing good so far. Ohio won their first CBI game and we pulled a big one. Today is Miami's turn and i hope UNLV will be the next victim.Go MAC.

Here are UMass results against teams we played:1 - They killed Northern Ill by 15. (doesn't mean a thing)2 - Beat Toledo by 7 (We beat toledo by more than that if i remember right)3 - They beat Dayton at Dayton by 11 (That one is scary)4 - They lost at Temple by 10 (Good News)They get Contributions from 3 big seniors @ 6-7, 6-8, and 6-9. We will need big games from J-wood, Bardo, and Quade.I say it is winnable. Can we please work on our free throws? pretty pretty please.
-
Look at you Mr. "I am a better fan than you."This post is totally uncalled for. Criticism is one of the main ingredients needed to point the problems and improve the program. Here is one for you: our players should work on their free throws. We realize how lucky we are to have KD and we love him more than you can think. But that is still a discussion forum where people talk their minds out (including criticizm sometimes). Unless we live in China or Sudan where people are only allowed to praise the system.
-
When are we going to make our F**ing free throws?
-
I was thinking about that, using coach Rowdies to help coach James making Zeke a zip. However, i am rethinking it since Mrs Zeke's mom said that he doesn't like too much attention. On a side note, if my name was Zeke, i would love to become a zip. "Zeke the Zip" it is like as if it was meant to be. It definitely sounds so much better than Zeke the pirate or Zeke the hoakie, ewww that last one is ugly.

nbs i don't see why would you be disappointed. We are not saying that Steve is not good, How could we? we never seen him play to start with. Some of us are worried about the team's performance next year because it consists of a lot of new comers and you don't know what to expect from someone who never played before. Also, How would we sell Steve for Zeke? Neither Steve nor Zeke can play 40 minutes a game so we need both of them and being excited about Zeke should not alert Steve at all.How would you like this line up in 2 years if Zeke decides to come here?PG: Steward, HumptySG: Sullivan, McneeseSF: Brett, CventinovicPF: Bardo, ChrisC: Steve, ZekeI don't know where would you fit Roberts, Parish, and Mclanahan... but if those guys are half as good as advertised, we should be in a pretty good shape.

A collective chant of F U so and so is part of college basketball?I have been watching College Bball for a decade, I have been in almost all MAC arenas and Dayton, Duquesne, Cleveland State, l never heard it from any fans other than Can't.

I need to throw my .02 in on the JUCO ideas I see being tossed around. I don't like it. The only reason it is even an issue right now is b/c Can't just won the whole thing with a bunch of JUCO's. Last year when we beat them 3 times and knocked them out in the semi's noone was crying for us to start recruiting JUCO's, but b/c the shoe was on the other foot this year there is a faction of zipsnation that wants us to change recruiting strategies. The fact of the matter is it is a dangerous short term strategy for building a team that is difficult to sustain. Can't has done it for a few years in a row now, and you have to at least give some props to them for being able to, but for every Can't out there having success with JUCO's there is an Ohio who ends up with a bunch of overrated streetballers who never develop. I'll take KD recruiting quality high schoolers who can get it done on and off the court every day of the week over going for broke on a bunch of JUCO's. All indications seem to be that the strategy is starting to pay off long term with better recruits coming in each year. You can take your JUCO's and go watch Can't or OU if you want, I'm a Zips fan and I like how KD is recruiting. The reason why this is being talked about this year has nothing to do with us beating Can't or them beating us. It is simply due to the fact that we have graduated 5 starters in the last 2 years and our next year team is made up of freshmen and sophomore. Therefore, i do not see a shame in getting JUCO help if talent is there.
-
Add those to the list:1 - Collectively chanting F U Dials before the game in Can't this year. (when did akron fans ever do that?) not even for Bubba.2 - Flicking up LeBron James last year while we cheered on Josh Cribbs when he showed up at the JAR a couple of years ago.3 - The middle finger is a regular thing in their student section. Never seen at the rowdies areas.Saying that both teams have good and bad fans really is not fair.
