  1. Shouldn't they technically be Pennsylvania Commonwealth University, since they aren't a state?
  2. Maybe they could use it as a drive-in movie during the week. I'm thinking overflow seating for the JAR to watch Zeke rock the rim
  3. Great news! Thanks for sharing!Any word what GK has planned for the first show? I'd be surprised if it wasn't done yet.
  4. ABJ: Skyway restaurant plan in holding patternSeveral months after a sign went up announcing a new Skyway Drive-In restaurant was planned for East Exchange and Spicer streets, in the shadow of a new University of Akron football stadium, no work has been done on the site. And it's not clear whether the plan will ever move forward. The sign announcing the restaurant is still there. But city of Akron Planning Director John Moore said no drawings or plans for the project have been filed with the city.Steve Large, owner of Skyway, said he does not know what is going on with the site.Read the article.so who owns the property? anyone know of how to find out?According to the Summit County Recorder's Office, it is owned by "SETH BRADLEY OF AKRON INC" (purchased in 1989). If there is a newer owner, it hasn't been recorded there yet.
  5. UPA works with UA, so I would guess things will go smoothly.
  6. Nah... speed THRILLS! It's the stop that kills.Glad to see another big WR with speed. Hope he catches well and does well with his classes.
  7. Got a flyer in the mail yesterday for a you-pick-3-pack. First time in my history as a Zip alum and fan that I actually bought football tickets before the game; called today and orded two of those for the Indiana, OU and Can't games.
  8. And who's to say he won't grow an inch or two?
  9. I'd love to see a Cora's come in there and be the first American francise.
  10. Who is willing to move down? I have never seen anything to suggest that any program is seriously considering this move. Has any program ever moved down?Guys like Vandelay have said that some if not many of the MAC presidents want to drop to 1-AA and maintain a "business as usual" view on athletics but are being forced to play their hand by guys like Proenza who are aggressively trying to improve their programs, although Nick won't name which presidents are which (it's fairly obvious when you look at which schools are doing what). Some teams have moved down in the past I believe, but none recently.Anyways, it's all detailed here. Plenty of links to the other school's message boards and their views on the whole thing.Could some MAC schools follow their lead with the economy being hard on endowments recently? Maybe not so far as D3, but at least in the same direction?
  11. Grading on the hill... I suspect grass (or sod) will be coming soon.
  12. Same group that were working with Myers Motors?
  13. Odds are it's either a "vanilla" practice, or the cams go dark.
  14. Double your fun with the final regular season game at Info vs EMU @ 4:00. They'll have fun with parking that day! Good thing it's the Friday after Turkey Day - many companies shut down then.
  15. The first banners are in! Well, sort of... There's some First Merit signs hanging on the club level wall on the pressbox.
  16. I like S of Exchange (Plasma site). Keeps all the athletic stuff in same location, access to 8 for N and S traffic and E and W on Exchange. Just have to have someone as an intermediate purchaser of Nemer's place
  17. What, donate a pint and get a ticket?
  18. That is one way to look at it. The other way is like this...It was an Orlando Sentinel article and UCF is in Orlando. Auburn and NC State represent the SEC and ACC respectively. Local school and the area power conferences far outweigh RPI when making a headline.UCF lost their star scorer to the NBA draft. They have a sophmore C who is 7-4, 300# from Poland; otherwise they have only 1 Sr and 3 Jr's.
  19. I applaud him on making his selection based on acedemics. That said..."Sewell says he is more of a shooting guard than a small forward. and has a scorer’s mentality."Too bad for him that he won't get to score much with the really slow-down tempo at Miami. And he'll get to be rejected by Zeke when we play him!
  20. Akron wins the toss and runs the opening kickoff back for a TD!
  21. Video boards awaiting installation? Looks like there are a few in the same spot on the west bowl.
  22. Most of them by the Haven are harmless, but you are correct, there are some difficulties there, and I don't know what the answer to solving it is.
  23. Thats a good name. It could Be Buffalo, Akron, Can't??, Toledo, Bowling Green, Ohio, Miami, and???If that's the way to go, I'd rather steal some of the BE teams (especially if the newly-formed conf could be BCS) like Cinci, Pitt, Syracuse, to go with us, Buffalo, and Toledo.
  24. I believe the University Park Alliance also involves the properties along E. Market by City Hopspital and their plans include mixed-use (residential/commercial) buildings that replace some of the older buildings along there. With UA's purchase of the properties on Market I could see some of that eventually being medical research buildings with their proximity to City Hospital. There is some events in the area already (Art in the Park at Grace Park, concerts at the churches) and they are close to some of the restaurants (Crave, Chophouse).
