1. I'd gladly substitute LSU, Penn State, Iowa, or Indiana for Malone in our schedule, not that they would ever agree to a 1-for-1.
2. Amen to that. I miss his passion for getting the rebounds.
3. So does Akron.I tried to find the thread on here, but I couldn't come up with any unique qualifiers from the lyrics. So here is the gender-neutral version we came up with a while back.DRINK BEER!DRINK BEER!DRINK BEER G-- D---DRINK BEER!I WON'T DRINK BEER WITH ANY FANWHO WON'T DRINK BEER WITH AN AKRON FANAKRON ONCEAKRON TWICEHOLY JUMPIN' J---- C-----G-- D---SON OF A B----G-OOOOOOOOOO ZIPS!!!I was thinking more along the lines of something that could be a bit more official and main stream. something with an english tavern melody that the band wouldn't get in deep $hit for playing in the stands and that the rowdy's and other fans could sing to at a gameAnd better than Can't using "Beer Barrel Polka"
4. Out of curiosity, does anyone know how many if any other teams in the MAC have local TV contracts? Could this be another part of the FCC screwing we inherited?
5. I think last time I was at Luigis they began taking credit cards...maybe I'm wrong. It's been a few months.Still cash only, but they have an ATM in the back if you forget or didn't know.
6. specialty foods - sauerkraut balls were supposedly invented in Akron (or at least northeast Ohio)golf - Firestone (PGA's home of the Firestone Tournament; not sure on fees there, probably more than $35) - Brandywine (back 9 is interesting) - Goodpark (decent municipal course)restaurants - Crave, Big City Chophouse, Bricco, House of Hunan, Cilantro Thai, Luigi's are all downtown and good. Spaghetti Warehouse is also downtown but not as good however they can accommodate large parties
7. Where oh where did the old Chris McKnight go?
8. The pictures of Toledo's new arena look nice. They are probably helped some if they are in their own media market.
9. Out of curiosity, does anyone know how the 2008 renovations at Toledo affected their budget (new loges) and attendance? Obviously the attendance would be somewhat affected by the team record, so that should probably be noted in any comparison.
10. FYI, even though we only got one of the 3-pack deals, we got the same survey in the mail today, so apparently it's not just season ticket holders.
11. Is channel 3 still doing the "23 news" on TW cable? It would be nice if they could run that over 3.2 in stead of the weather radar only. I'd watch it!
12. They're lost without Conyers playing
13. Speaking of being a cheerleader for the home team, did anyone else catch the mayor of Ft. Worth's comments before the game last night? They made Ft Worth a purple city and all of the city employees were to wear purple on Fridays. I'm sure the Don wouldn't want to try that here.
14.
zip37, I see you got it. Keep the faith.

Oh, and for you unbelievers, Dan Peters is also a friend of mine. We just had the future scheduling
conversation at the On Tap last Monday night.
Well, go on. Do tell. Who are we hoping to get on the schedule?Akron 2010-11 OOC ScheduleNotre Dame College (The one in Cleveland, not the one in South Bend)Vanderbilt (Preseason tournament)Norfolk State (Preseason tournament)Drexel (Preseason tournament)IPFWDartmouth@MarylandAmericanUniversity of Phoenix OnlineMorehead StateEast Tennessee StateFlorida A&M@St. LouisSienaJust a guess. That's really interesting. Anyone know the RPI for University of Phoenix Online? One higher than EMU.
15. Reading thru Razor's blog it sounded like they were having power problems on the media bench.
16. FWIW, The Don showed up near the end of the game Sunday.
17. Is there a scholarship penalty for non-graduation in futbol also? That could be the only bad side to this that I see.
18. Well your IQ does go down a few points when you cross the county line, so it makes sense!
19. Agree on every account. I brought a friend and his kids to see the game and it wasn't exactly a great performance. I learned a while back to wear layers to peel off as the heat rises in the JAR, but this was hot from the get-go. My guest had to step out at one point as he didn't dress as wisely.Humpty worries me. Since his fight he's scored only 9 points total in 3 games.Free throw shooting for the Zips in this game: 6-17. Sweich was on the cover of the roster card and he got his couple of minutes and 4 points. Bricked two free-throws though. Good to see Sullivan get in (bricked two free throws also) and even Kyle Petersen grabbed a minute. That's what Akron does. When we had a 15+ point lead early, I thought we should just pound it inside and get either the points or the fouls. Their tallest guy was 6-6. The good part is they double- or triple-teamed Zeke and he made the outlet pass. The bad part was that our guys weren't hitting the threes (6-25).Happy birthday Zeke. For whatever reason they seemed to be having trouble with the zone D and maybe that was why they were shooting 3s. I still couldn't understand it since we had such a height advantage. Occasionally they would have some nice passing out of the double-team in the post and around to the open guy on the opposite side for a 3, but all night they couldn't hit the side of a barn.
20. Was out shopping this afternoon and they had the game on at the Indians store in Summit Mall.
21. Not to hijack a thread, but I noticed the kid from Solon (another walkon I believe) wasn't listed on the sheet at the game Thursday. Did he leave or was it just an omission?
22. Still better than I expected for a 2-9 team on a cold day.
23. looks like they're gonna have to build new ships It's official; we shot a hole in the flushes ship and Buffalo finished them off today. Still no bowl games for the flushes since 1973.
