  1. I can't help it. If 8-10 K.e.n.t. is coming into our house, and someone wants to post (on the UA board) that we don't have the talent to beat them...well...you gotta be prepared to prepared to defend the point, or take a little heat. That said...to prove I'm not totally unreasonable...I'll remove the .gif. Acceptable compromise?I just thought it was the reverse psychology thing; say they are bad and won't win so they do.
  2. FYI... Steve is featured in the newest SI in the Pop Culture Grid (pg 20)! Check it out! Not sure if it is on SI.com or not though.
  3. Dude, you rock! Thanks for the great graphic!
  4. Thanks. No inconvienience for me; I come in from Market.Hope it doesn't deter the rest of the UA fans! I know the lot by the O-Nat is usually pretty well used on game days also.
  5. Get there a little before the doors open (11AM). Parking is going to be a nightmare! Great to hear some of our Akron fans from PA are making the trek ... safe travels Saturday. They're closing down Spicer Street, apparently. Are they really? I hope it will at least be open to get to the parking deck!
  6. So far this looks like the winning prediction.
  7. LOL... makes you wonder though, does Ditka have a post move so good that not even Ditka could defend it?Chuck Norris could defend it!Because of Miami's style of play, if we end up playing their tempo, I don't think we would lose by a lot. I'm hoping for an explosion from McNees again!
  8. Don't know about rugby, but there is a hockey club team.
  9. Mike plays good D and that may be partially why the team gains when he is in. If he could only provide some O of his own to go with the D...
  10. Switching to the BE would be fantastic for our football program (and maybe some of our other programs also), but could be difficult for basketball.
  11. I was mainly just trying to show what we have vs the rest of the MAC E. I agree that we should be getting SS some additional playing time, if nothing else in the the games we get up 10+. Both guys are young and they are outweighed by most of the Cs in the East so they will probably need to use them both later in the season.
  12. With all the talk on the board about wanting to get SS more time, I thought I'd compare how MB is doing so far vs the other five MAC East Cs.First some general comparisons; MB & SS are about the same height as the others, but they give up 10-20 lbs. Experience-wise, there are 1 sr (Buffalo), 3 jr (BG, Can't, Ohio), 1 soph (MB), and 2 fr (SS, Miami) putting UA C at the bottom third of the experience ladder. The two biggest performers so far are Otis Polk (BG 5.3 pts, 5.9 r, 1.6 blk) and Brandon Parks (Can't 9.3 pts, 6.4 r, .4 blk). MB comes in at 1.9 pts (last), 2.9 r (3rd), .8 blk (2nd). SS comes in at 3.3 pts, 2.3 r, 0 blks, but his playing time is much less so far so I'm not sure one can really get a good picture of his production just based on the stats.I'd be happy to share my sheet; if anyone wants to see it, PM me. I couldn't attach it because of the file type (MSExcel).
  13. Yes. Most of you "difference makers"are looking for grayshirt opportunities.Excuse my ignorance, but does a greyshirt practice/play in spring drills?
  14. SS also (1 R in less than 1 min)
  15. Exchange deck, Polsky deck, surface lots, neighboring streets for the most part. Tailgating is rumored to be on the intramural fields along Brown St. Talked to our friend in UAPD who said they are working on logistics of getting people in and out of the area. The shuttle busses should help some.
  16. I also would like to see more offense from the bigs.IIRC, CMcK is playing with a cracked rib, so that could explain his lack of time and tentative play inside.Nik played good earlier in the season, but let his emotions get to him in the Dayton game (3 PFs) and he got benched. He hasn't seemed the same since that. I do like the way he wasn't afraid to go inside and I hope he gets it back together soon.SS seems to be good at finishing around the rim. Maybe he just needs to play with more abandon to get some time?
  17. If this is really true, lord help us all. There's nothing I look forward to more than sleeping through a UA v. MU game. Bring your pillow in a hotly contested 43-42 final. Yawn!!!P.S. Can we change the shot clock rule to 20 seconds when we play Miami? It's funny you mention this. I was talking with a friend just yesterday about how intense the UA - Miami rivalry is but how very boring the game often is. Now last year, McNees went off from behind the arc which added some excitement and moments for the crowd to explode, but often Miami's style of ball really does lead to slow, boring games. Whenever I'm trying to expose someone new to Zips' basketball I never take them to the Miami game. It's a shame because it is usually one of the better crowds of the year, but the game is almost always dull.IIRC, the Zips controlled the tempo of that game a bit better and made them play a faster game than they were used to.
  18. I remember taking FORTRAN back in the early 80s...Oh how I hated typing those things!
  19. "Poetic" catch!
  20. As a band alum who's done the cheer many times... I believe you are correct.
  21. I would like to see that also, but I think more than Nate stepping up, I think the Mc's (Chris, Brett, and Steve) need to step it up more. I think it's good for Nate to be the vocal leader, but just keep doing what he's been doing and get the rest to step up. Jimmy sure has and Humpty's showing some good stuff for a frosh.
  22. 2008 review and 2009 outlook
  23. The first thing I thougt of when I saw it was how some opposing fans might say the Zips should maybe read it rather than selling it.
