  1. This is false, there are women soccer teams that average crowds over 1,000 in college. BYU played Texas in front of 4,922 last night. The WPS league had decent crowds Saying "it'll never happen" makes me think you should read Og Mandino's The Greatest Salesman in the World.
  2. I can add the teams we played into the table. I don't think Penn State or Michigan is going to draw a crowd based on their name. Ranked teams are probably more significant.
  3. UNC vs Virginia Tech will be on ESPN3 today
  4. All postseason games were removed in the 3rd table, so that includes every day of the week. I did not remove any bad weather dates, nor do I have weather data included in any of the tables. If the box score sheets had weather data, I could include it. If you feel inclined to find the weather data for each of those games, I'd be happy to add it in. I'm going to start working on a football attendance report soon, but because of the NCAA's 15k average requirement every other year, the football attendance numbers UA reports are dubious.
  5. Plan on bringing your favorite porter style beer to the tailgate on Friday.
  6. in the tables, you can see that the later games in the season start to experience a drop in attendance, regardless of how the program's doing. They don't report weather in the box score sheets, but it's obviously a strong factor.
  7. the attendance for the UND game was 1407. Sunday could draw a bigger crowd.
  8. Ha, was just about to post the same. Better than game tracker.
  9. Mes, I hope this explains why they schedule games on Friday nights: Soccer Thrives Under Akron’s Friday Night Lights
  10. AO Akron is having a watch party for the US game against Jamaica at the Barley House, in the back private room. We'll be keeping up with the scores for the Akron game there if anyone wants to join us.
  11. The Zips men's team have done well on Fridays. I need to find time to work on the attendance tables for this year, I'll add the day-of-the-week the games were played so we have actual data to look at.
  12. Our support for the Women's team on here has been lacking. The ladies take on Cleveland State today @ Cleveland. We should consider setting up a stream for the game at the Barley House before the US game kicks off. http://www.horizonleague.org/live/6365
  13. My best guess is one of these guys. Staff Directory Tom Wistrcill Director of Athletics (330) 972-7080 krex@uakron.edu Mike Rodriguez Associate Athletics Director for Business (330) 972-6280 mrodriguez@uakron.edu Paul Hammond Associate Athletics Director for Facilities and Operations (330) 972-8102 phammon@uakron.edu Adam O'Connell Director of Ticket Operations (330) 972-8291 adamoco@uakron.edu
  14. Option A. Move the tennis court: cost less than $100,000. Move the west end bleachers to the north end: cost less than $20,000. Option B. See picture below:
  15. I've noticed this is becoming an issue. I witnessed several families attending games last year have trouble with seating in the general admission area. These families looked new to Akron soccer. If they Find it inconvienient to find seats, they may never return to another game. The National Championship brought a lot of new faces to Akron Soccer, would hate to see people turned off by the lack of convienience. The main grandstand no longer has tickets available this year and sold out before the season started last year. This is a huge problem because that's where the casual fans need to be sitting. It has been hard for me to justify buying season tickets for the main grandstand because I like to bring or meet up with people at the game and would not be able to have them sit in the main grandstand with me unless I buy extra seats. I'm sure there are others that experience this same dilemma and resort to buying GA tickets instead. Making the west end reserved is an awful solution for resolving this problem.
  16. The university is to blame for the poor fan atmosphere at basketball games.
  17. Expanding the main grandstand should be a high priority.
  18. With the money this program makes from tickets, merchandise, sponsorships, and summer camps (where the big $$ is made), I find our current stadium situation unacceptable. If Akron ever built a club level similar to Creighton, it would sell out every year. Season Tickets: Upper Level Grandstand Adult $220 Youth $130 Lower Level Grandstand $110 $70
  19. I agree, promoting Embick helps strengthen the programs ties to an MLS team. Porter could still hand pick players for Embick to develope at Akron.
  20. Zips move up in the rankings to the #6 spot. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-men/d1 Full schedule of games can be found here http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...en/divisionid-1
  21. It doesn't look like Luke Holmes has had a productive season in the USL Pro http://www.uslsoccer.com/teams/2012/22403.html#STATS
  22. Zakuani makes an assist today http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-...?videoID=198880
  23. The stream for the game requires a $4.99 payment http://www.gocreighton.com/liveEvents/live...;db_oem_id=1000
  24. Soccer could really take off if it had over an hour worth of commercial breaks between plays each game and 50 new rules added or changed to the game every year.
