  1. I agree. No problems to report, just wanted to get away from Rodriguez. Why would a 5-star recruit come to Akron though? Hard to imagine, but it'd be a great addition! He got the big thrill of going to a huge school. Maybe he wants to come home and play. Not only that....Dick Rod is ruining that program. I cant blame him for getting out. I find it highly unlikely that he would come here, but we can all wish.
  2. I planned to accomplish saying that they told the other poster the exact same thing they told me except a week later. Why do you think I started the thread to begin with? I was expecting people to be getting tickets based off what they university told me when I called. Not sure why this is turning into a big deal?
  3. You could find some threads that are passionately negative. This is not one. Take the soap box over to one of those threads. No kidding, Max. I never said this thread was "passionately negative". It's just that I have noticed many members on here complain about anything they can find. We all want UA to be a legitimate competitor in athletics. Support is a necessity, and it is not in place here...that's for sure. Some Akron "fans" need to grow up and realize Akron Athletics don't revolve around them. I'm not saying you or grad, but it's embarrassing to be associated with those Akron "fans" who are plain selfish and ignorant. I understand the emotional attachment and loyalty to a school; therefore, one expects to be taken care of. The fan base has a critical role with building successful athletic programs. But that also means true fan support, not just the criticism. Hmm...my reason for this thread was due to anticipation. There was nothing negative about it. I am also on edge because I dont want booted from Lot 9!
  4. Funny...they told me the same thing last week.
  5. Anyone get their tickets yet? I think today may be the first day of their arrivals. If so, did anyone get Lot 9 again this year? I called last week and the people seemed to think that some of us could get our lots again.
  6. Great news. I loved the Rivals article. I think it showed just how good of a recruiter Ianello is. Plus, it shows this kid was smart enough to actually listen to the good advice that he was given!
  7. Everybody sees things differently, I guess. I don't detect one iota of douchebaggery. I see a no-nonsense coach who wants to win. Exactly....I dont look at it as a bad thing that some of the players didnt like his style. The prisoners were running the prison when Brookhart was here. It is natural for them to not like a coach that comes in and clamps things down. Getting results on the field will sway players in the right direction. Everything else falls in line.
  8. I met him at the MAC championship basketball game and he stood there and talked to me for several minutes. I didnt detect schmuck from him at all. People on here need to give the guy a break and let him just do his job. I for one appreciate the videos and he hopes he keeps them up. I look forward to them every day.
  9. I agree 100%. Just look at Penn State. When was the last time you have seen Joe Pa on the sideline with a headset on?
  10. Once again....nobody is excited to go watch Marshall. These home and homes need to be against fairly significant teams in order to gain the local interest. If we cant get it from Syracuse and Indiana, we surely wont get it from Marshall. What if the Zips put such a good product on the field, that it doesn't matter who they play? It seems to me that the "savior complex" of people in NE Ohio shows itself when talking about future OOC home games. Instead of bringing in a team to save the match-up and produce a good crowd, how about if we make the Zips the team people want to go see? If the Zips suck, nobody is going to the games regardless of who they play. I see it like this. Indiana and Syracuse are bottom feeder teams that never play in bowl games and have little interest in their own fan base. On the other hand, Marshall has become kind of good again and made a bowl game last year. People know Marshall as a good team really worth going to see if the Zips are good as well. They see them on TV playing in bowl games. People know Syracuse and Indiana suck and will find something else to do with their time and money other than going to watch them play. Really? You did see the stands during the Yankees-Indians series, didnt you? It doesnt get much worse than the Indians, but that place was jammed every night. I never said that I wanted Syracuse and Indiana, but it is better than Marshall. Marshall is a nobody. People in this area will not care if we go 10-2 every year unless we start beating a few name teams like a Michigan State, Pittsburgh, UNC, Virginia, etc.... Going 10-2 against EMU, Ball State, FIU and Marshall gets no interest. It will always be looked at as small time. We need name schools at home or people wont care. I get sick of family and friends rolling their eyes at me when I tell them our OOC home games are Morgan State, Gardner Webb, North Texas, Middle Tennessee, Cal Poly and Howard!! Nobody gave a crap about Marshall when they had Chad Pennington and Leftwich.....even less care now.
  11. Once again....nobody is excited to go watch Marshall. These home and homes need to be against fairly significant teams in order to gain the local interest. If we cant get it from Syracuse and Indiana, we surely wont get it from Marshall.
  12. Landon Smith committed to Youngstown State this morning: http://www.letsgoguins.com/columns/footbal...h-in-2011-class He must not think that he is good enough to play at a bigger school.
  13. No mention of other home and home. I pray FIU isnt one of them. He said "I think the people will be excited with who we scheduled. These teams are willing to come play in our new facility". I get the feeling that it is someone decent, not FIU. I see that Notre Dame is negotiating a home and home with Temple. Maybe Ianello has the contacts in south bend to pull off something of that magnitude. That would be amazing.
  14. Looks like we are playing in old Rocky Top in 2012. Cant wait to see these 2 home and homes he is excited about for 2013 and 2014!
  15. +1 The guy hasnt even coached a game yet and you call him a joke? The only joke I see is this rant. Come back in 3 years and spout off if we are in the same situation as we are in currently. Until then, chill and see what happens. Give the freaking guy a chance.
  16. 7 on 7's have absolutely no baring on anything. Who cares?
  17. I really like his video on rivals. He seems to be a very strong and aggressive run blocker. This looks to be a very, very good pickup!! Now we just need a stud for him to plow the way for.
  18. Yeah, because none of us ever drank at a college party when we weren't 21. whatever.
  19. The city and campus police are fine with it. It's the state liquor people that like to wander around that you have to keep an eye out for. Yeah... if you are under 21. There are absolutely no restrictions on drinking at InfoCision unless you have glass, or are under age. I have to give you two thumbs up on the Great Lakes....I thought I was the only one tailgating with it!
  20. It sure doesn't seem like we are having any better success in recruiting against the low level BCS teams. I bet Ianello isnt used to losing all of his offers to Indiana!
  21. UB will go 1-3 against these teams in each of the seasons they play them. I'm not sure why this is such a good schedule for them. You are right...they should schedule Malone, Prairie View and SW Texas State instead. If you really think MAC teams should not strive for schedules such as this, why do you even bother paying attention to Akron games? Your small potato schedules will keep the program dormant for years. I would rather lose to a BCS than beat a garbage team nobody has heard of. It at least draws somewhat of an interest from the community as opposed to NONE.
  22. Not even close to having the foot speed to play at the D1 level. I find this verbal hard to believe. He isnt even in the rivals database.
  23. Raising attendance requires a few things. 1. Win. I get people, OSU fans and otherwise to go to games. The problem is we lay an egg and you can see the look on their face that the product on the field is inferior. If we won on a consistent basis it would bring people back. 2. Play teams people are interested in watching. I had people ASKING ME to go to the Indiana game. I also have people asking me to go to the Syracuse game. Playing BCS schools, regardless of who they are gives the game a big time feel. 3. Good tailgating. My uncle is considering season tickets because I took him to two games and he tailgated for the first time. He LOVED it and he enjoyed being able to watch a D1 game close to home. He played football for Miami. 4. Start traditions. We have zero. The students and alumni have no common traditions or game day events. It makes the experience feel small time. We have no skull sessions in the gym, walks to the stadium, entrances, cheers, etc... It is just boring. 5. Did I mention winning? We need to win the MAC most years and beat a few name teams at home 6. This is a football crazy area..... it will get better if the loser stigma goes away.
  24. What if he never figures it out? Almost to my thirties, I am just now fully realizing how much I enjoy chicken wings and beer. I want to fully realize my potential before it is too late. Nice. In my mid 30's and realize wings and beer are IT....nothing more to see here...that's it...oh yeah, boobs are nice too...enjoy. My wish is sometime soon the Zips play YSU and end this pointless discussion. Zips would win 9 out of 10 games played against YSU. I would be highly upset with 9 out of 10. There is no excuse for us not to win 10 out of 10.
