  1. Will this game be on Comedy Central? I went to the game in LA last year and tOSU was laughable at best. Literally, USC fans were laughing at them while watching them play.Yeah, the Fiesta Bowl game against top 2 and undefeated Texas was on comedy central too, right? Get a clue before being an ass. I could make comments like that saying that 95% of the games we have ever played against a real D-1 opponent (aka non MAC or service academys of the world) have been far worse. Oh wait...we got slaughtered by 30+ AT HOME against ARMY a couple years ago!!It has been a while since tOSU has won a game against a decent team (perhaps three years now). The glory days are over. Enjoy beating the MAC and horrible Big Ten teams every year.If I use your scenario of what a "good team" is, then we have never beaten one in our 20 year history as a D-1 school. How on earth can you or anyone else as an Akron fan make an OSU joke? If we were in OSU's shoes right now you would be a scarlet and grey homer talking about how great your team was, blah, blah, blah. I have to laugh at the loser programs that always make fun of the winning programs. I guess it makes the little guy feel tougher even though he has never won a fight in his life.

  3. I can't believe I still see people working in the stadium at 8:45pm.
  4. I have a feeling they will make the Morgan State a noon game.1. It is Morgan State and that doesn't really get people jazzed up for a big night game.2. They are opening the stadium and a day game makes more sense for a trial run and so people can enjoy the views of the stadium.3. OSU-USC game that night at 8pm. I doubt they want to try to draw the casual fan to watch UA play Morgan State when USC is in Columbus. That would be an attendance disaster. I have 6 season tickets and everyone I asked to go said they are waiting for the game time before they commit.
  5. That is because you only watched the 1st half. Nicely didnt look so hot in the 2nd half and Bucher was on fire. He was far superior. Read any article on the game.Nicely 10-14 147 yards 1 TD and a huge pick inside his own 20 that almost cost them the game. Nicely also fumbled on a sack and lost the ball to PA.Boucher 18-24 260 yards (Big 33 game record) for 2 TD's (1 a 99 yard game record) and no turnovers. They also put him in on the final drive where he had a 50 yard scramble to get Ohio inside the PA 10 yardline.
  6. Boucher was far and away the superior qb in that game. He moved the offense on every series and he threw a better ball. Nicely was always underthrowing his receivers or throwing behind them. Plus, he threw that horrible pick inside his own 20 in the 4th quarter that caused a huge momentum swing that could have cost the game. Obviously, the coach thought the same thing because he brought in Boucher on the final 2 minute drive to win the game.Granted, it was an All-Star game and I don't put too much faith into them, but Boucher was the man Saturday night. BG also got a STEAL with that Joplin kid from Southview. He was the best receiver on the field.
  7. Curious.....how is the seating chart coming along? I have 11:15 am tomorrow and I am just wondering what is left in priority reserved.
  8. Yeah!! Its OSU fault!! I love people on here. If I have said it once, I have said it a million times......OSU has been the big school in Ohio from the beginning. They play on national tv every week. They are ranked in the top 10 every year. They play in an enormous sold out stadium every week. They play the likes of Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, USC, Texas, etc... every year and play in big bowl games. They have names like Woody, Eddie George, Archie Griffin...blah, blah...They had 14 guys drafted in one year!!Akron has only been D1 for 20 years. We have had what?....2 or 3 winning seasons? We have been to one bowl game, which we lost to Memphis. We play in the worst conference in the country. We play teams like Can't State, Temple, Eastern Michigan, Morgan State and Buffalo every year. Up until now our stadium was a 30,000 seat decaying dump in the middle of a muddy field that we can't even sell out on a sunny day when we play our arch rival!! If we played on tv it was on ESPNU or Fox sports Ohio where nobody saw it. We haven't had as many players drafted in our history as OSU had in one year. I could go on and on.....Please....tell me why everyone should be all juiced up because we have a new stadium? You think because they live in Akron that they should abandon their generations of OSU fandome to root for Akron? My answer is why? Until we give people a reason to be excited, why should they be? A stadium is a good start, but it is only a building. Until we put year after year winners on the field, nobody will care. Say what you want, but that is the honest truth of the matter. We are excited because we went to Akron and we are sick of hearing about how we stink and are irrelevant. You can't make people excited and you can't make people care. Well, you CAN make them care. Its called winning and beating teams people know. Also, don't give me this "go away" speech. I dish out a grand a year for Akron season tickets. I am excited as hell for the season to start, but I am not naive enough to believe that everyone should be a Zips fan because they live in NE Ohio. I am also not blaming OSU for their success. That reminds me too much of class envy and I cant stand it.
  9. I hope the same is true for Friday morning.
  10. Just for the record, they didn't switch anything. The Indiana game has been scheduled for the 19th for several years. Morgan State was a late addition to an open date on the schedule. What you told your dad is not true.Actually, the Kentucky game was scheduled for years, not Indiana. Then it was switched to Indiana, which sucked but was still ok. Also, was the opener for the last 8 months or so not hyped as the Indiana game? Did the home opener get "switched" to Morgan State just recently? Yeah...I think I told him the truth.
  11. some of you just crack me up. pretty much anybody would rather watch us play a garbage big name school over a no namer like Central Michigan. Lets see....you are in the heart of Big Ten country,,,,,,,I am pretty sure "craptastic Minnesota" is 4 times the draw as Central Michigan. Besides, nobody said anything about playing 4 ranked teams...just a team or 2 at home that people CARE to watch (aka...they have heard of and know they are D1).Also...TCU would be a great draw. Anyone with a brain knows they are a hell of a team.
  12. I doubt Payne ends up at OSU. Look at the Rivals 2010 verbals and class rankings. OSU already has 4 verbals and the #1 rated class in the country. They have 2 x 4 star guards and a 5 star PF and a 5 star center. I doubt they pull an offer from one of the other 5 star big men to give it to Payne. It was a mutual decision. The following is the conversation that constitutes the mutual agreement.Payne: "I'm not coming to visit."K.D. "O.K."
  13. I was speaking to may dad about this very subject over the weekend. He has 2 season tickets right beside mine. He didn't go to UA and the only reason he roots for them is because I went there. He, like many other fathers in their late 50's is an OSU fan as well. In his 2 years of having season tickets he has gone to about 2 or 3 games. I asked him why he rarely goes and if he will go a lot more now that we have the new stadium. Mind u...he lives about 50 miles from Akron. His response was....."sure, I will go to more games this season, but then the new stadium fun will wear off. I just never went to the games before because they never played anyone I wanted to go watch. I would rather stay at home and watch OSU play a team that is more interesting."I agreed with him about the schedule. The one game I know he went to was Cincinnati last year because he wanted to go see them play. I guess my point is.....if we want more than the diehards to show up (and with our schedule even that is tough), we have to schedule the Michigan State's, Cincinnati's, Indiana's, Pittsburgh's and Purdue's of the world. We can't be playing Cal Poly, North Texas and Middle Tennessee State as our non conference home games. He and I were both extremely upset that the university chose to open the stadium with Morgan State. I told him they switched it from the Indiana game and he just shook his head and walked away.
  14. I have to wait until the 12th at 11:30 am. I guess that is what I get for only being in my 3rd year of having tickets.
  15. Also looks like they are working on the scoreboard/jumbotron foundation.I caught that this morning. I wasn't sure at first. But, I can see that's what they're doing. 2 questions...1. When is the press box glass projected to be done so they can add the other half of the 2nd deck seating?2. Anyone heard any updated news about a seat selection date? I am getting anxious. Thanks!
  16. In regards to Missouri... I dont see them going anywhere anytime soon. They've been the only consistent Big12 North school to give the Big12 South any competition. The Big12 needs to keep Missouri, otherwise the Big12 would become grossly unbalanced. However, if the Big10 was SOMEHOW (and I put big emphasis on this because any Big12 team would be a fool to leave that conference right now) able to lure a Big12 team to the Big10, the Big12 would be stuck short a team. There's no way that the Big12 would pick any schools east of the mississippi, and there really aren't any teams "big" enough to fill that slot anywhere in the great plains region. My theory on all this: If the Big10 decides they will expand their conference to 12 teams, they are going to seek either Notre Dame or an elite Big East team. Any team located in the eastern Midwest region would be ideal for the Big10. Seeing how the Big East is really the only major conference that has conference members in that region, they'd be the Big10's prime target. Personally, if the Big10 can't lure Notre Dame in (which is entirely possible given past attempts), I see the Big10 going after Pitt, West Virginia, or Syracuse. Geographically, Rutgers is a too far East to make sense for the Big10.Actually, Rutgers is the school that Big Ten would probably go after for the simple fact that it is in the largest market in the country (New York city metro). The Big Ten has been itching for years to get into a market of that size. The prestige of the Big Ten would do nothing but help Rutgers as far as athletics is concerned and it would be a cash cow for the conference.
  17. Very true what you are saying. Most kids have their head in the clouds. Heck, I still do at times. That is what we do as Americans. We dream the big dream. I think some people also dont understand the ego of athletes. It isn't a bad thing. Having that cocky attitude is one thing that drives people to be their best in sports, but sometimes people think they are better than they really are and maybe that is why they can't stop thinking about schools that may be a little above their talent level.
  18. How can you expect the majority of Ohio kids to want to come to UA over OSU? What have we done to build this desire to be here?I would love nothing more than for us to go to a bowl game every year. When we do that for a decade or so you will start to see some Ohio kids start WANTING to come here as a first choice. It is changing a little with the facilities, but this is only going to be a boost for a few years. We have to start winning consistently and winning against decent teams or we will just have a nice fieldhouse with a new and empty stadium.* Moderator-edited to keep thread on-topic *
  19. I am sorry....I know the soccer team is good, but how many people in the community really care? It is a sport nobody cares about. The soccer program does not bring in money for the university. Why on earth would we sacrifice our basketball programs future for the soccer team? That is just silly in my opinion. We need to focus all the universities efforts on football and basketball. If those sports are successful the others will fall in line.
  20. I bought 4 priority reserved tickets this year and for the 2009 season. From what they told me when I got my tickets people with priority seats would get to pick their seats ahead of others. First pick went to longest season ticket holders and then it went down in order. Who knows if they is still how they are doing it.
  21. I am with you....I thought those were sharp.
  22. two seasons ago...and they lost multiple times to the MAC last year. They are the joke of the big ten.Don't forget Purdue, Illinois, and Northwestern. The Big Ten sucks. Any of the teams from the bottom half of their conference could play in the MAC and wouldn't even win it most years(and that's with the Big Ten recruits they get now..give them a few years of MAC recruits...). Yet, if they win six games, you'd better believe they will have a nice bowl game. The BC$ sucks. You have to be kidding me. If you honestly believe either Purdue, Illinois and Northwestern wouldn't win the MAC 9 out of 10 years you must have a screw loose. Just look at the MAC's combined record against these teams.
  23. Those teams would get crippled if they played a D-1 team. Physically crippled. If you thought the 65-0 beating of Hampton, w/65 scholarships, was a tragedy, wait til you saw Duquesne vs. Akron. 100 points might be achievable. By halftime.I hate the idea of playing a 1-AA, but I would love to play Duquesne. My wife graduated from there and I remember all the idiots on their campus telling me their football team (we were in school from 96-01) would destroy Akron. I watched one of their games. They were actually decent, but I had to laugh at the idea of them even remotely being able to play with us.
  24. Yeah...South Dakota State. I can hardly wait to mark that game down on the calendar. What a joke.
  25. It definitely makes you happy to see that we recruited what looks like a couple great guys that are proud to be here. Guys like that help you build those recruiting relationships with local high schools and I think that is something this program has missed for quite some time.
