one thing i will say...this team doesnt quit.

3 FGs?? lol We certainly do see things differently. My prediction is Zero FGs but Akron finds a way to win. (or are you predicting a missed extra point?? That I must say...is ballsy) Ballsy....but correct. Pretty impressive we suck

what a call with the rb throw back for a touchdown.....but we blow the extra point. unreal

this wind is really affecting the game. we need to score while we have it at our back.

This is pathetic. We are getting physically manhandled by Eastern freaking Michigan. I am officially on the fire Ianello bandwagon. Our program has regressed to the point that he can't right this ship.

My mom (YSU grad) gets her YSU gear at Kohls in Youngstown. Is there Zips gear sold at any Kohls in the Akron area? I have never seen any @ the Macedonia or Stow locations. The Kohls in New Philadelphia usually has an ok selection of Akron gear.

We will beat VMI and win either EMU or Buffalo, so I will say 2.

I had 2 friends try to buy tickets in section 210 on saturday because they wanted to sit with us. The ticket salesman said that no tickets were available in that section because of the groups that bought the tickets to sit there. Needless to say, the section was 95% empty.

...the darkness is closing in...At this time we simply don't have the horses to compete with the BCS teams or even the top level MAC teams. Temple isnt the Temple of old. My group was all astonished by the size and speed difference between the 2 teams. Their offensive and defensive lines dwarfed ours and physically manhandled them all night. Their kickoff coverage looked so great because their team speed was on a different level than what we currently have. I am not at all thrilled with the results, but to say that it is all the coaches fault is ridiculous. Nobody could coach their way out of the talent deficiency that we currently have. If you want to blame it on Ianello's 1.5 recruiting classes, go ahead. However, you are sorely mistaken.

Why would you want two fullbacks as our backfield? Chisholm is one of our gamebreakers...we need speed, not plowhorses.Ever see Mike Alstott go into the endzone?I still haven't seen enough of Rossi to know if he's an inside-the-5 runner, but his stats show he's big and fast. I'm guessing he isn't a lumbering plow horse. We shall see...Alstot also had warrick dunn running with him. I think it is safe to say that Rossi is no Alstot, who wasn't even a true fullback.

You are talking about Aaron Goldhammer. The guy is also a HUGE OSU basher. He is a puke and I would love to punch him in the face almost every time he opens his mouth. He isnt from Ohio and all he does is bash on every Ohio team regardless of sport.

I am going down Friday night and hope to be in a lot by 8am Saturday. Last time I parked across the street from the Schottenstein center close to the track stadium. I will have to look up this other place you guys are talking about and maybe I will check it out. Actually, looking at the map shows that I usually go just se of the woody hayes facility by the fawcett conference center.

I'm pretty sure he transferred out. Dissappointing to me; I thought/think he has a lot of potential. IIRC, I remember after ICoach was hired they interviewed him and he said he commited to the school, not the coach. Well, I guess he realized the coach that recruited him was a bit different than the one that coached him. To me, and I may be wrong, he was Akron all the way. Coach I made him change his mind. Look at the guys coming in to the program. Look at the guys leaving the program. I am ok with Ianello getting his guys in here based on the talent level increase in just 1.5 classes. Half of his first class was done by the time he was hired and he had practically no time to finish it. I am pleased with what I am seeing in talent upgrades so far. I just hope we have a .500 or so record to help bring in better ones.

Wow...got on here to check the reply and I didnt see this thread coming!! lol GP1, thanks for the commentary. I think you made my choice pretty easy that the UNC game is the one I want to attend. I am looking for the overall experience, so that should be the obvious choice considering I dont care about the games outcome.

I am visiting my brother in law on the weekend of october 15th. I was planning on going to the miami-unc game while I was there, but I am not sure that is a good idea with the current rules violations. Virginia tech plays at wake that day as well. Which do you think would be a better situation since you are familiar with the area? Not sure about tailgating scene at either, so I look forward to your opinion. He lives in Raleigh, but just moved there.

Has anyone gotten their OSU tickets or season tickets yet? Seems later than normal and I am curious about what they are doing with lot 9. They wouldn't guarantee it to me again, but I have had it the last 2 years.

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what happened to Dale Martin? Can we add him to the Cap'n's list of Great Zips who never were? He and Ryan Bain need to wait the requisite 2 seasons before enshrinement. BTW -- Guest MC at this year's Great Zips That Never Were HOF Ceremony is Thomas Plummer. That is funny. I lived with Geoff Beascheane for 2 years and I remember how great he said Plummer was going to be!!

Football Gameplan's 2011 MAC Preview Video
Zipgrad01 replied to EmDiggy's topic in Akron Zips Football
Based upon what I saw on the field last year, it is pretty easy to make a case that we had scrubs for receivers. I'll be sure to inform some people who evaluate football talent for a living that they've completely screwed up by showing an interest in these two "scrubs". And since we've gotten this good news about two of our former receivers in the last few days, couldn't one conclude that these guys may have had much better numbers if they had a QB who would have delivered the ball to them with any kind of remotely reasonable consistency? It's a much stronger argument when you turn it around the other way, considering the facts. Should I sit back now and wait for a return to the "then it must have been our OL" argument? I wouldnt be surprised if someone brought Carter in as a safety. He isnt even close to an NFL wr, but he has the physical tools to be an NFL safety.
