i think he would be better off in another offense with him at qb.he would be more suited for a regular offense.i don't think the spread fits him at all.if your qb is not a running threat what's the point of using the spread.i realize we have problems keeping a qb this year,but i hope next year they would run another offense next year.he seems to be a better drop back passer.you could run play action all day long with this kid,and should get alott morebig plays next year.

jd is right on the money.this is not the first time we have been 1-4.that pretty much sums it up. here are some more stats 1-7 in the last 8 games.the only win is against a bad 1-aa team. i don't know any bcs school that would have kept the coach after 3 losing seasons in the a row.yet now 1-7 in the last 8 games. i just don't see any way this team can win seven games.we need to beat one d-1 team first.

i just wondered what everybody though it would take to save jd's job.7-5 would probably save his job i guess,but that's not that great of a season in my mind.we need to start winning our mac games,and going to bowls.the fact is jd has had three losing seasons in a row.if he was coaching any bcs school he would have been fired after last year.i think the akron fan base has been very fair to jd.the problem is the expectations levels are so low for football that a 7-5 season is considered good.our divison will probably have half of the teams in the bottom ten at one this year if not more.if jd does not go at least 7-5 he will have no one to blame,but himself.jd had alott better facilites than faust,or owens.we still somehow cannot have a winning season in three years.teams like temple,and buffalo owens beat up on a regular basis.now those teams are beating us.i am not making a case for lee owens,but just trying to show how far down this f-ball program is now.i am not so sure anything less than a division championship should save his job.the other factor is dr.p did not build a new stadium to see it half full every week.i just hope dr.p really looks at the long term future of this f-ball program,and does that include jd.there is no reason we cannot find a qualifed head coach with the facilites we have now.as long as akron is willing to pay a fair salary i don't think we will have a hard time finding a new coach if/when the time comes.

while i am upset at what's going on this season there is still two reasons the zips may be able to have a decent season.the mac conference is terrible this year,and the mac east is even worse.i would think all of the mac east teams have tobe in the bottom 20 right now.all of this facts make this game with O.U the biggest game in j.d.'s carrer.if we lose this game we will be 1-4,0-2 in the mac.i think at that point it would be almost imposible to win the divison,or become bowleligble.if we win against ou we would be 1-1 in the mac,and 2-3 overall.i would not be suprised if 5-3 wins the maceast.we do not have to be a good team this year to win the mac east.all akron has to do is be the best of the worst.if jd cannot do that then he will not be here next year.if you look at all the teams in the east miami is probably the worstteam in d-1.buffalo got beat by temple.the same temple team that lost to a 1-aa team.ohio probably looks to be the best of the worst so far.that's why a win over then would help so much.if we lose in two weeks though i think the wheels will startfalling off the train.i am not giving up hope until after the ou game though.

if are frontline players stay healthy i think we should dominate the mac this year.i am not one to usually give props before a game is played.i know we lost nate,but people forget humpty was playing injured at the end of the season.we also did not have steward last year for many games.even if we have some injuries in the backcourt it should not matter.i wonder if kd will play a little more up tempo with so many guys now.i would like to see more frontcourt pressure this year.we have alott of guards plus teams will think twice with zeke standing at the basket.

if jd cannot win six games in the worst confernce in d-1 then he needs to go at the end of the year.four losing season is plenty.if jd was at bcs school he have been gone last year.

i don't kow if akron will ever get a chnce to get out of the mac.as long as we are in the mac the football program will not do much.you may get a 8-5 season with a bowl win at best.the mac has one big problem.no TV money.gate money means very little.most of the revenue comes from tv contracts;which the mac gets nothing.if they ever can build up to beating up on the mac .they need to jump ship the first chance they can to another conference.it would almost be worth it to jump into another b-ball conference depending which one.if football would have to go it alone for a few years.you probably would bring alott more $ from b-ball.when is the last time a mac school finished in the top 25.not was in the top 25 one time for one day,but actually finished the end of the season.the mac is a graveyard conference,and we are stuck in it for now.

if/when jd is fired.there is still alott of football games to be played against some bad team.i realize we are one of them also.there are 8 games left in the season.jd needs to win 6 of 8 to guarentee is job next year.5 of 8 wins and i think the decison will be a hard one for dr.p. the new a.d. is not going to make this decison.if jd is gone for next year you need a coach who has d-1 coaching experience,and a winning record.that would mean paying millions for a new coach.you would have to steal a coach for another school.that's what the zips need to do,but what will happen is anyones guess.look what alabamadid to get saban.the problem is the mac schools don't bring in the revenue to pay a guy that much money.if akron could get a coach to come in and start winning they would pack a new 30,000 seat stadium every week.that would probabaly be enough to pay for such a move.the whole point of my post is that a decison on who to hire as next coach is not a easy one.economics play a big role in the decison.if we are ever going to win though they need to open up the pocket books.

honestly it has nothing to do with any of the above.the top football programs every year spend tons of $ to be there.that 's why a mac school will never end up in the top ten again.you may have a mac team once every few years pop into the top 25,but that's about it.the mac has no revenue stream to compete with the bcs schools.i am not saying there are not some non bcs that can compete like boise state,utah ect.even those schools spend alott more $ than any mac school.like it or not the bcs does not want to share money with teams like the mac.why akron cannot compete in the mac is another story.we now have the facilites to compete in the mac.i think it''s just finding the right coach.the problem ishow do you then keep him.when a school like alabama spends more money on thier head coach than akron spendson it's entire football budget there is no way to compete with that.when a booster gives okie u over $100 million for the football program there is now way to compete with that.

some people think im crazy for posting this ,but i do think akron can win this game.cmu has a great offense,but they have a terrible defense.we will have to take care of the ball,and no stupid penalties though.we are coming off a week were got blown out.they came off a easy week with a win over a 1-aa team.if akron has any heart they will go up to mount pleasant, and win this thing.if not then it's another nail in jd's coffin.i still thing think any mac team can beat any other mac team this year.central was 16-11 over the last two years.in the mac that's great.in a bcs leauge alott coaches would be on the hot seat.i just think the standards for football have fallen so low that a team a few games over .500 is considered a powerhouse? the reason people don't go to the akron games is because they don't win.why don't we win games.alott of the problem is the mac conference.there is no tv money in the mac.the big ten gets millions of dollars in tv revenue.so when you don't have any tv $ coming in guess what happens? the mac teams have to play against bcs teams to make any $.the akron a.d. thinks they are making more money by playing on the road.what they are actually doing is killing the fan base,and any $ that would come from attending home games.every year we lose 1-2 games playing bcs teams at the start of the season.this teams needs to play home/home with teams.right now we have no business playing top 25 teams on the road ,and getting destroyed.if you don't get a return home game don't schedule the team.we need to play winnable home games.we have a new stadium ,but i bet we will never play more than 6 home games ever.the way akron has scheduledfor the last 25 years has destroyed the program.when was the last time any mac finished in the top 25.akron is like a business who thinks they are saving a nickel,but they are actually losing a dime.i would like them to shedule one 1-aa teamfor home game every year.then play home,and home with other teams.we would seven home games that we could win.we have no business playing bcs teams right now.the two games with big ten teams showed how bad we right now.

after the penn state game the team can do one of two things.jd can win 7 of the next 11,and keep his job.after the win next week the team could lose a few in a row ,and jd is gone after this season.i don't want a 6-6 season either.winning season he stays/losing season he's gone.there is no reason this team can't go 7-5 becasue the rest of the mac looks awful right now.bg's win over troy was probably the best win this week.miami of ohio got shut out.i watched the wmu/michigan game,and wmu did not look very good.temple got beat by a 1-aa team in nova.nova is a good 1-aa team,but now way should a d-1 school lose to a 1-aa.the only problem is indi,and cuse will be hard games.i watched cuse play min, and they are alott better than last year.

if im betting on this game im taking akronand the points.unless the zips turn the ball over a few times i don't see us getting beat by 28.wmu is also a -12 to -11 point underdog at michigan.mac needs to beat michigan to keep them down,and the heat will start on the coach after the first game.i still think wmu can win this game.michigan was horrible the last game of the season against osu.

i think the key to the penn state game is our defensive line.we have to be able to stop the run.im sure penn state will pound the ball between the tackles at the start of the game,and then throw some play action at akron.we seem to have on paper some good size on the d-line.hopefully bain cann give us some snaps also.if our defense cannot stop the run then we have very little chance of winning the game.if we can stop the run then we force pen state to throw the ball alott.i don't think this early in the year penn state wants to throw alott;especailly against a non big ten team.if we can get the ballback without letting them control our offense should be able to score some points on them.they have a brand new secondary which we should be able to take advantage of.

college hoops net has Can't ranked at 103,and third best team in the mac.bg was #4 best team in the mac.i wonder who will be ranked second behind akron.i thought miami ,ou,and buffalo were all supposed to be decent this year.

whoever the ad was going to have problems simply because of the mac conference.the a.d. can only do so much.alott of the success in sports has to do with the conference,and mac commish.i have talked about the mac before,and with us in this conference it will be hard to build a winning football program.ohio state football program makes enough $ to pay for all the other sports at o.s.u. we get no tv money,and a conference where you don't even play all the teams in your divison.plus in b-ball we have an unbalanced schedule.no matter what you recored is .the two teams with the best recordsin each divison get seeded # 1 ,and #2. it was ridiculos that akron was seeded 5th last year when the #2 seed was barley over .500. we only get one bid every year to the tourney which means less $ for all the mac teams.my point in my post is to show how many problems the mac has,and one ad is not going to change that.

i still would like to see andre jones play defense.i think our recievers are fine without jones.even if they would play him 3rd and long would not hurt.everybody is going to say that he is to valueable on offense.that is well and good,but if you can't get the ball back it's hard to score.i think jd has made some bad personell decisions,and this is one of them.if the defense is anything like last year them we are in big trouble.put jones on defense,and he is best open feild tackler.him with bain really would upgrade the run defense.i have seen to many times over the years where teams run the ball,and we have no clue how to stop them.jd is not going to listen to me,but he will be accountable for his decsions at the end of the season.hopefully the defense has improved enough this year,but the first game has me really worried about our defense.

you can promote to group you want to.people are not going to come to see akron unless we start winning on a consistant basis.im sure the first year there will be a spike in attendance from the new stadium.i think the stadium buys akron some new fans for one year.if we have a losing season the following year will mean 7k for every home game.the other problem akron has is the mac conference.i don't care how many people come to the games most of the $ is made through tv.we are so far behind other conferences in tv $ it's hard to compete with other teams.if you look at the top football programsthey all spend alott more $ than any of the mac schools.i know this topic has been discussed over and over,but akron needs to get out of the mac if the opportunity presents itself.the mac as a conference does not have much going for it.we have a odd number of schools; so we don't even play all the teams in our divisons.how stupid is that.it's a one bid b-ball leauge,and no tv football $$$.the mac has done nothing for our b-ball program,and we finally will have great football facilities.i realize we are stuck in the mac for now,but akron really needs to at least start considering other options.

i don't think people realize how important security will be at the new stadium.especially underage drinking.what about selling beer in the new stadium? has thier been any word.a few years back at central florida footballgame a person was shot,and killed.i don't rememeber all the detials,but i think a cop shot an undercover cop.you are going to have alott of students underage drinking,and that usally leads to trouble.i just hope the univeristy has a seurity plan,and plenty of police.

when you have three losing seasons in a row ! lose your last three games of the season !lose to temple the last game of the season ! fans of other schools usually don't respect your football program.jd and the team need to remeber that this year. they need to earn respect on the field this year.this game should not have been scheduled for a number of reasons.you don't take a losing f-ball programand do this crap.you need to build confidence in the players ,fans,and coaches by winning games.they need to start to schedule winnable home games.unless a team will play us home / home don't play them.the akron ad dept does this crap every year,and starts off with a next to impossible game to win.i thought the schedule was fine except for this game.why not try to get a home with a sunbelt,or c-usa team? we have a new 55million dollars stadium,and we open on the road against penn state.how does losing the first game of the season ,every year help your program? especially with a new emtpy stadium.i am not blaming the coaches,or players for alott of the failure of this program. every year we had five home games,and started out on road against a top 25 teams.hopefully things will change with the new stadium.i just hope jdwill be around to see it.

i totally agree with gp.the problem is we open with penn state not morgan state!! what's the point of that.we should have tried to open with morgan state.we should have tried to either play the psu game next year,or played morgan state real early in the season.does the ncaa mandate when the season can start?why not play morgan state the week before penn state? even if this means playing in late in august the first game at the new stadium would be full.
