im glad to see most of the zipnation feels the way i do.the people that attack jeff would not say these things to his face.i was starting to worry that i was only one who feels this way about jeff.i do remember when we lost do dayton this year.there were some poster's who were upset with kd,and is he the right coach for the zips? now that kd went to the ncaa the same posters who ripped him are saying he is best coach in b-ball.fans are so fickle these days.i just hope with akron winning in b-ball this does not draw these type of people to our program.they attack our asst coach when he leaves for a new job.then kd is a bad coach(dayton loss),but all of sudden he is now a great coach.these same fans will turn on him/players coaches if we lose even just one game.i hope we keep these guys away from akron b-ball.we don't need these type of people nor do we want them.

my god where are all these hatefull comments coming from? basketball is game,and that's all this is.unfortunately fans from all schools get carried away,and make it something more than this.it's not life, and death.we are not fighting a war,and nobody is dying.we are talking about a simple game not star wars the dark side.99% of the posters on here complaning about jeff would leave the same job for more $$.they would not even give this a second thought.somehow this is different i guess.how is jeff a traitor now? i know alott of zip fans hate osu; so maybe that's pat of it.i love the zips, but i keep an open mind about my school.i wish jeff the best,and congrats on his new job.

i did watch the all star game.here are my obervations.please do not rip me for my comments.it's hard to judge a game like this.the game was a typical all star game with not much defense.i think the score at the half was usa 65/florida 50.zeke did start the game,but each side played alott of guys.it's hard to tell how good florida talent wise.zeke looks every bit of 7'0,and as alott of length.he moves really well for a guy 7'0.he also had two blocks,and altered a shot on just one possesion.i hope i am not jumping the gun,but i don't think akron ever had a guy that can block shots like this.i realize this was high school kids though in anall star game.he did have a a couple turn around jumpers he missed.he had a few nice baskets around the rim with a nice open dunk.he can do the job on offense around the basket.i have seen to many times where are big guys miss open layups;so i don't think that will the case now.

i thought you could split scholly's up.i thought faust did that a few times in football? you would get two guyson partial scholly's.

akron will have a hard time finding teams to play home & home next year.kd needs to find the best competitionin a preseason tourney's next year.teams like osu ect then cannot avoid playing you then.on a neutral court i like our chances against anyone.playing teams like osu ect on thier home court is a waste of time.it basically becomes a foul shooting contest with osu shooting ten for every one akron shoots.

can somebody tell me how many scholarships do we have open next year.what about roberts? i would hope kdwould give him one.it's the right thing to do regardless.the guy has earned it on the court,and off.

anybody on this board would jump at the chance to do the same job with alott more$$$$.as much as osu is dislikedit's a step up for jeff.i wish him the best,but it won't effect next year at all.it's actually shows how far kd has taken this program.we now have big ten schools looking at our asst coaches to fill jobs.next year we have a veteran team with zeke coming in.

akron and all of the other non bcs schools need to get invlolved in this.i think they would have a strong case forantitrust.the bcs schools will find any way to keep the non bcs schools out of $.i think most of themwould like to have all the non bcs schools drop down a division ;so they would not have split any money up.this would never happen, but college football needs to model after the pro's with the maxium football budget.this would not be salary cap ,but would make college football a level playing field.schools like osuspend millions more on their football program than mac schools.if you put a cap on what any team could spendevery year you would start seeing things even out.mac schools will ever be able to compete with bcs schools unless something changes with $ teams can spend,or how the revenue is split up.

i think how good zeke will be next year will determine how far this team will.we should have enough to complete for a mac champ regardless of how zeke does.the problem is expectations for this teams next year will be through the roof.after watching what n.c. did to gonzaga thier is huge gap between the top teams, and akron.the only way the zips can close that gap is a dominating big man.we can win mac titles with the guys we have right now,butto win a ncaa tourney game we are going to need zeke to step up.i know some of the posters want to schdule some top 10 teams.the only way i would play those teams is in a preseason tourney.at least you have a nuetral court.if teams are not willing to give us a return game then don't schedule them. what's the point of getting beat by 25 pointsby a team like n.c, or duke. teams like akron have no chance of beating them at thier place.if kd was smart he would try to find the best preseason tourneys to get in competition wise.then i have no problem playing a duke,or n.c. playing at thier place it's a waste of time.

we could not put pressure on the other teams qb even when we blitzed our lb's.i think the biggest issue i have is that our defense is so undersized.other teams just beat us up on the line of scrimmage.until we get some bigger players at db,and lb we are going to be in trouble.maybe this year with some bigger dl this will help the problem of playing undersized lb-db though.the only chance we have a good season is if the offense can put up alott of points.we are going to need at least 35-40 points a game for our offense,and hope they don't turn the ball over.i just don't see how the defense is going to stop anybody this year.

hopefully either steve,or mike will be able to give akron 5-10 min at the backup center spot.this would add depth,and keep are other guys out of foul trouble also.i don't think it's a real issue either way though.zeke comes in and can play the center spot next year right away.that does not leave much pt at the center spot.if they deveople then so much the better.if not i don't think it will hurt the team at all.we did not get much from those guys this year anyways.i really don't think either of those guys will see much pt next year unless we have some injuries ect.

i hope the zips stop scheduling teams that will only play us at thier place.what's the point of having a new stadium if we are going to play osu/penn state every year on the road.schedule teams that will play us one for one.if we do that then we almost have to play a 1-aa school every year to offset playing teams like osu/penn state.how did we ever agree to play cuse to times at ourr place.i know these schedules have been made a few years in advance,but cuse has not had a good team in awhile.

if the friday night games are on espn,or espn2 then it's worth the exposure. having the games on just espnu is a joke.why not just have the games on saturday instead.how does having a game on friday that nobody can see nationally help the program?it's funny how some fans are predicting 8 wins from this schedule.people forget we lost our last three games last year,and temple was the last one.we will most likely lose to penn state.the only game where we will be big favorites is morgan state.i think the team might win 6 gamesif we play like last year.anything after that will depend on how much the defense improves,andthe health of our running backs.i just don't see us winning 8 games this year.we lost to temple last yearwhich is one of the worst programs in d-1.this team proved last year we can lose to any team in d-1.

thanks for the nice comments that i do make good post.i have had alott of health problems this year;so i have a i don't give a crap attitude latley.your outlook on life can change fast when you are not feeling well.we all have one thing in common on this board.we hate can't,and love the zips.

gp i totally agree with you.akron or the mac never gets top 100 players let alone a top 30 player.the only way zeke does not start is if he CAN'T pick up kd's defensive.i seriously doubt that will happen.from the scouting reports his defense,and shot blocking are way ahead of his offense.kd loves guys who can play defense.i think zeke will start from day one.he will make a instant impact on defense for akron with his shot blocking.

there is now way the zips will get a new arena.unless somebody like james is willing to kick in millions to this.the gov't is billions in debt to the so i doubt you will get help from the state or federal gov't.with the new stadium where would the money come from?

the biggest problem with attendance was nobody expected much from this team.the zips should pick up some fans now,but how many is a big question.ck is right on point.expectations are going to be higher next year.if the zips start off slow thenthe fans will jump off the band wagon.just because we have most of the guys coming back next year does not mean we will be any better.every team in the mac will be gunning for us now.i think the loss of nate will hurt.the biggest question is how much will zeke help.the zips then can move nik,and chris to the four spot.we should have alott of depth next year also.if zeke can give us quality min then the rest of the mac is in trouble.if akron is going to the next level we need a decent big man.we can win mac games with a 6-8 center.your are not going to win quality occ games without a 6-10+ big man.it's alott of pressure to put on a freshman center. im hoping zeke will give this team a big lift,and put akron into a top 50 team next year.

i would think either the cbi and cit would look at matching up two mac teams for a tourney game.if bg goes to the nit,and somebody else in the mac goes to the big dance.i would think the mac would be able to get to two more teams in one of the tourney's.i know are sos is low,but i really don't think there are 130 teams better than us.especially of we beat miami we should be playing somehwere.
