i just wondered who everyone thought the starting qb would be this year.another factor is we have no set wrs that are proven.hopefully whoever the qb is will have time this year.i think the running gmae should be improved but still the qb situation is scary right now.opening at wisky is not the ideal time for a offsense that's coming off a bad year.

does anyone know who the highest ranked player to sign with the zips? i know there are alott of different scout services but i just wondered? from what i underdstand he is the highest mac player right now.i wonder if gary trent was ranked higher than him?

any chance the u of a could build around these guys? this is so insane,and the stadium will be over budget.what happens then?if they run over do they raise ticket prices at the gate.

when the u of a has topay 3.1 million for the run down property it has to come from someone.i can't blame of u of a for what happened.they should try to build around these guys.it looks like the new stadium is going to over budget so what happens then?

i think he will be a good player for the zips.akron needs all the d-line to step up this year.teams can double team him all day so we need the other guys to make plays.i dont know how much is bad coaching or lack of talent why we could not get sacks.it would really be nice for our line to put pressure on the qb.even when we blitzed last year we could not get to qb.

menace you need to read the article.i guess the kid had mono while trying to play.i am not saying he will be the next jason taylor,but obviously the akron coaches saw something in the kid.we have all seen what has happened to jd's best recruits.most never see the field that's why i never put much faith into the recruit rankings for the mac, or are team.look at kemme coming out of high school.he was not heavily recruited,and he has been our best ol for a few years.

any chance that the u of a could build around these guys? if they can they should do it unless the judgement is reduced.the u of a should tell them they get nothing now,and see how the attitude changes.these guys could have walked away with alott of money,and it would be hilarious if they gave them 0 in the end.

can hiram even give scholarships,and ysu pulled there offer.lol. im sure there is a tuff decison.erie costal college or akron.the kid is better off at akron anyways than hiram,or ysu.did akron actually give this kid a scholly or is he a walk on?

the guy got three million dollars for a run down building.i just dont'get how people are complaing about eminet domain when the guy got three million dollars.it's not like the u of a kicked him out,and he got nothing.the u of a should do everything they can to get the judgement reduced.like one poster said the before the beacon ran a story about this,and the u of a is using eminet domain to screw people.once the stadium is built im sure they will run stories on how great the new stadium is for the akron community.

skip zip that was exactly what i thought also.we have people in kennedy,and allen who are decent backs.we also have the transfer from maimi in the mix.we have no one at safety that can play like jones can.he is best open field tackler the zips have.i guess we will have to wait and see this season.

i thought a.owen did a decent job last year.i just dont think the offense jd runs fits the qb we have now.i think that's the biggest issue.i am so sick of the pass in the flat to the wr. jd is going to be accountbale for all his decisions.i just wish the occ schedule was a little softer.i just don't think the occ schedule is fare to any coach regardless of who it is.

i think moving jones to wr is not a good one.he is our best open field tackler.he has not even caught one pass for the zips yet.i know we need help on the offense,but taking your best db to offense is not the answer.

we should have tried to buy out of the wiksy game.i know it's easier said than done since none of us have to fork over the $$$. i also realize that mac football is a losing deal. i just dont see how three road games,and a home game against cinnci is good. i still think akron will have to go 5-3 in the mac for jd to have a 6-6 season. cuse is not osu or wisky, but our record against anyone on the road is terrible.hopefully all this will change once the new stadium is built,and au can get more fans to the gates.

the only problem with 6-6 is that you would most likey have to go 5-3 mac. i just cant see us going 2-2 in occ play. it may happen, but we would have to beat either cuse(road)/cincci (home). i think we have a better chance in the mac.they can talk up cmu all they want. the fact is the got beat by a 1-aa team,and gave up 70 points later in occ.there is not a mac team that is that much better than the rest.

rowdy you make some good points.i guess you are right in the fact indi is a winnable game.you are probably right in scheduling them to open espcially if akron wins.kentucky was great last year so i imagine we don't want to play them yet.i do feel sorry for jd becasue the 2008 schedule this is it totally unfair to him.i am not trying to change the topic but it leads to next season.it would be a shame if this team goes 4-8 and jd will be gone.i am not a big fan of jd but the schedule is not very easy.jd may not see the new stadium if the team has a another 4-8year.i do think most zips fans feel the same way in that the record this year should not be the only factor if jd stays around.at trhe same time can we have a coach with three losing seasons leading into the new stadium?

rowdy i know indi is the first game at the new stadium!! you are missing my point.why not try to get another bcs team to open the stadium instead of indiana.they still owe us a return gams so why not make that later in the year.we could probably get a good bcs team willing to come to akron for the first game.the ad admin blew any leverage we had because indi was already going to play us.unless this was the agreement to gewt indi to come here it does not make any sense.

i guess i was wrong.i thought akron was supposed to play kentucky this year,and kentucky was supposed to open at the new stadium.i know akron is not playing kentucky this year.why not try to get a bcs team to come here to open the stadium.indiana already owes us a return game which could be played later.i think the admin lost any leverage to get another bcs team to the new stadium.we may get some lower bcs teams but we will have to give them a 2-1 most likely.

zipmister whats your point by flaming me.get off my back.if you think,indiana and cuse are coming to arkon you crazy.ck is right when temple came in to the league it messed everthing up with 12 teams you could have played all you teams in your divison plus half of the other divison.it would not be perfect but alott better than what we have now.

cuse,indiana and bcs teams will never come to the bowl.akron admin blew it on the schedules this year by playing away games with the promise of a trip to the new stadium.will get kentucky to come here because it's opening of the new stadium.i do think it's unfair to jd and his staff to to pimp the schedule this year.these return games will never happen and jd will pay the price this year.it's sad that we have to open a new stadium just to get six games every year.the ad dept has always done a terrible job in scheduling,and next year is no exception.

i have no idea how she decides who follows the rules.my old boss told me anyone can be replaced even him.the point isyou try to work with people that have some value in your organization.firing somebody should only be used as last resort.you don't think other recruits see what she is doing at akron.why would they go there if they are going to lose the scholly a year from now.the reality of this is almost nobody really cares about girls d-1 ball at any school.you have some exceptions at a few schools like tn,but most people could care less about girls b-ball.in the end she could get rid of all the team,and only a few people would care about it.

zipsrilfe you are 100% correct.they need to fill the pages with something so they do a story on this.once the new stadium is build they will say how great the new stadium is,and how much business the games will bring to people that have shops around the stadium.they will say how great u of a admin is to make this happen.

i think our defense will still be ok this year.we have enough guys coming back,and with the addition of a good 300 lbs-dt.i just see last season repeating it's self.the defense plays good but gets worn out because of 1-2-3- punt from the offense.we need to be able to run the ball,and get better qb play for things to change.if not it will be a long year.the miami game last year made me sick.i just hope things change with addition of johnson at rb,and jones at wr.im sure williams will be a great db,but how is that going to help the zips score points.jd sees the team everydayso i am sure he is doing the right things by changing people around.i still dont understand why jd did not go aftera jc -qb.i don't really like going the jc route alott ,but we also had a qb from the jc-mike johnson that was a great qb.we also had biggs at rb so jd has proven he can get a jc player.i think most people agree jd is on the hot seat this year.i don't expect a 12-0 season, but this team cannot have another losing season. i would be happy with the 6-6 seasonsince we are playing on the road for three occ games,and have cinnci at home.i would love to see us winning the mac,butwe need to at least improve on last year.
