  1. I've wondered the same for years. We're always talking about payday games, but you never hear Walsh or Dayton... or for that matter even high schools... talking about payday games. Our facilities are, obviously, more expensive to maintain than D-II or D-III schools, but other than that, what's the big difference?
  2. Good man. This should be a good game & I’m looking forward to beginning MAC play with a win over the Kittens 💪💪
  3. This is missing the point. It’s not payday games in general, it’s scheduling the best-of-the-best, at this point in our programs “development”, instead of the other 70% of schools we could schedule for payday games; games in which we may have a slight chance at not becoming a state-wide laughing stock. It’s Monday, as a known Zips fan I now can enjoy being mocked & having eyes rolled at me at work today. Auburn and Ohio State, this year, with this team, was imbecilic.
  4. We would've beaten Nebraska. Then one of the football gods - which one I don't know, they're all against us - hurled a lightning bolt to stop the game.
  5. 💯 Especially the lower-tier P5 schools, which are the schools we should be looking to contract with anyway.
  6. They really are. Fickel has done a tremendous job there.
  7. @clarkwgriswold, good post. I'm out of reactions for the day. 😕 I like the idea of 3 mid-to-low-tier P5 games. Something... ANYTHING... rather than getting slaughtered by the handful of college football Blue Bloods. Not right now. And not two in one year. Auburn and Ohio State? With this team? Lord.
  8. As I sit here, a beleaguered, defeated Zips fan, once again feeling aggravated and deeply embarrassed, I present a common-sense list of schools we should NOT be scheduling at our program's present state. There will, naturally, be year-to-year exceptions to the schools heretofore listed, but this list can function as a simple rule-of-thumb that any normally-functioning adult will understand without explanation. P5 Programs to AVOID: ACC: Clemson Florida State Notre Dame Miami (FL) B1G: Ohio State Michigan Wisconsin Penn State Big 12: Baylor Oklahoma State Texas Oklahoma Pac-12: Oregon USC SEC: Alabama Auburn Florida Georgia LSU Texas A&M To our adult decision makers, this comprises only 20 (less than 30% of P5) schools we have no business scheduling right now. Not difficult. This leaves over 70% of P5 schools from which to choose: 11 ACC schools: Boston College Duke Georgia Tech Louisville North Carolina NC State Pittsburgh Syracuse Virginia Virginia Tech (borderline) Wake Forest 10 B1G schools: Illinois Indiana Iowa (borderline) Maryland Michigan State Minnesota Nebraska Northwestern Purdue Rutgers 10 Big 12 schools: BYU Cincinnati Houston Iowa State Kansas Kansas State TCU Texas Tech UCF West Virginia 10 Pac-12 schools: Arizona Arizona State California UCLA Colorado Oregon State Stanford Utah Washington Washington State 8 SEC schools: Arkansas Kentucky Ole Miss Mississippi State Missouri South Carolina Tennessee (borderline) Vanderbilt Idiots.
  9. Well said, Grandma. I'm still fuming about this schedule. We need the Vanderbilt's (SEC) and the Purdue's (B1G), Not Auburn and Ohio State. For. Crying. Out. Loud. This was absolutely NOT the year for this sort of schedule. Where was the adult in the room when the imbecilic idea of scheduling both Auburn and Ohio State was tossed out for discussion?
  10. I like Mumpfield.
  11. Got some pressure on the QB & forced a bad throw for an INT 😊
  12. We need to stop the run. Stuff the box & make them throw. Brandon Bischof in there. But Boateng not in there after leaving the game holding his wrist in the first half.
  13. Good summary of what the staff has been through. Arth getting hired so late as to not sign any recruits till the late signing period his first year (basically getting leftovers; doesn't count), then facing COVID. The team is still incredibly young. I give him this year to finally get his ducks in a row. But next year I want to see a major jump in level of play & bowl eligibility. We won't be a young team next year.
  14. I think you're right. We lost Dollard & Gest, and apparently Ant is banged up. Norrils our only scholarship RB.
  15. 💯 Whoever scheduled Auburn & OSU should be tarred and feathered, and then drawn and quartered.
  16. Welcome, @iamtheroo! Glad you're here, and great first post!! KSUcks and go Zips!!!💪💪
  17. Great post, @Illini Zip 🙌💪💪
  18. Beautiful picture. Can't wait for this match; should be a fun one! Wish you guys were still in the MAC.
  19. Is Norrils banged up, or did he get benched for fumbling on the goal line? Ant Williams is not as thick as I thought he'd be. I was expecting a downhill runner that'd be wearing LB's out come the 4th quarter. On the other hand, he's faster and shiftier than I was expecting. Wasn't he advertised as a 215 lb. RB? He's 195. I may be getting him confused w/ Boateng. I pray Norrils isn't banged up, or we've gone from having an envious stable of RB's (Dollard, Norrils, Ant), to one scholarship RB (Ant).
  20. Has anyone noticed Janirr Wade getting any PT at all? He got quite a bit of PT as a true freshman last season and made an impact on the DL.
  21. All things considered, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the size of out last 2 home crowds.
  22. DJ did a nice job checking down & targeting the TE. Haven't seen that in years.
  23. If we can’t run the ball against these guys we’re not gonna…
  24. Uh, oh. Bryant’s got Mo going into the half.
