  1. Those are the blue-and-gold-colored glasses I'm wearing as well. I'm telling myself it's no coincidence that we had 10 JUCO's touring campus last weekend - apparently getting verbals from a handful of them - and a day later we have three high school seniors de-commit. I wish Jalen well. But I'm telling myself that, yes, we need full-grown men to step in and play next year. I wish Bass well. But I saw him play this year and he was alright. I saw other area high school safeties who I think are just as good. I wish Bulley well. He's indeed a bully. But I'm telling myself that he's doing that against high school kids and I'm not certain his skill set will translate to D-1 ball. And his weight looks like it's going to be an ongoing issue. Reminds me of Keondre White. There, I feel better now. Go Zips!
  2. Jalen Jordan rescinds his commitment.
  3. ABJ: Defense sparks Zips to 76-45 win over USC Upstate
  4. Man was I impressed with Tribble toward the end of the game when he was our #1 scoring option on the floor. He's got a scorer's mentality and is a serious athlete. He's gonna be a good one! I love the way Ali moves and handles the ball for someone 6'8" but wish he had more of that scorer's mentality that comes so naturally to Tribble. X has MAC POY potential.
  5. They’re looking much better to start the game than they did on Friday. I like that our first two buckets were by Reese in the paint.
  6. These are the four recruits from Butler C.C. who were definitely on campus last weekend. Woodbendy Guerrier, DB, 6-0, 195 Eric Scott, DB, 6-2, 200 Nazir Sy, DL, 6-3, 306 George Qualls, WR, 6-2, 190
  7. Answering all the questions you never even thought to ask, I present to you, courtesy of George Thomas, The University of Akron Men's Basketball Scouting Box.
  8. Hmm, and there was another tweet with four recruits from the same JUCO (I think it was Butler CC) touring campus. Can't seem to find it now. Anyway, Teon Dollard is a 6-0, 215 RB from Independence CC & looks really good; big, quick and fast. Here is his 2019 highlight video from 247 Sports dot com. Isiah Childs is helping us recruit Teon.
  9. Now that I think about, the tweets I saw should be posted in the 2020 Recruiting Thread as opposed to this thread, as I haven't found any verbals yet. Though I know we got a few I'm not yet certain from who. So I'll post the tweets I saw this weekend in the other thread.
  10. Looks like we had a pretty successful recruiting weekend. I’ll try to find a little more information and post tomorrow. We did have one de-commitment in safety Rashun Bass. Idk if it is just coincidence it coincides with getting other commitments this weekend or not. But I saw Bass on tv once this year and thought he was just okay. I’m not losing any sleep over losing his verbal.
  11. Bulley has River Rouge in the Michigan D-3 state semi-finals.
  12. Agreed about the entertainment factor being superior to the men’s brick fest. I watched on ESPN+ and it was a great game!
  13. Even if hosting high school playoff games isn't a financial plus for the U, I'd hope they'd host AMAP. It's great publicity & great for public relations. Get as many surrounding-community members on campus as possible. I hope the U pulls out all the stops next Friday to give both Hoban and Massillon fan-bases a first-rate, professionally-executed, top-shelf experience. -Every ticket window open and ready for business! -Every concessions stand open and ready for business! -Lots of knowledgeable ushers, everywhere I could possibly look, with smiles on their faces! -All restrooms open, clean and all toilets operational! -More ticket takers than necessary to expedite stadium entry! -Before the game starts make certain the scoreboard and sound system are operational! -Hell, open the InfoCision Zips Team Store! Who knows?! I hate to say it, but my vast experience with UA has me worried they'll be able to pull it off. ? Prove me wrong, UA! This is not the Bush League! This is a big time D-1 college facility! Walk tall, UA! Make me proud!
  14. Didn't UK used to be a member of the MAC in men's soccer?
  15. Yes!! The rest of your post was above my pay grade. Lol. But, even as a novice soccer fan, I would be a nervous wreck every time the opposing side attempted a CK, but, conversely, was never overly excited or hopeful when we would attempt one. I only remember us scoring on a CK once all season. And I really like how Biros curves those CK's into the box. But still... nothing. Technically I couldn't tell you why, but even I can tell something is amiss in that area of our game.
  16. These are all great questions I've been wondering myself. I don't know enough about soccer to have insight here, so I'm reliant on more knowledgeable soccer posters to educate me. But I guess I have to bring this up... last year was a pretty underwhelming year as well. I remember us all scratching our heads last year as the team sputtered to a regular season record of 7-6-2. We didn't host the MAC Tourney. But then we won the MAC Tourney, started hitting on all cylinders and went on our magical run to another College Cup. Afterwards everyone seemed to completely forget, let alone have any concern for how we actually struggled to play "Akron soccer" all season long. When we began this season with the hashtag #unfinishedbusiness I thought it was a bit presumptuous.
