  1. Cooper made the homepage of Yahoo.com this morning. Lol
  2. ABJ/GT: Zips open training camp aware of challenges that lie ahead
  3. I found it interesting that Coach Arth bluntly noted that after he first met the team his expectations of them weren't terribly high, but how, over the course of the last handful of months, they've changed his mind. Can't help but wonder if that may be a reflection of the visibly low-bar for discipline (and possibly work ethic) set for the team by the previous staff? I also appreciated how Coach said he hopes his players all want to be part of "a team with an opportunity to transform a university."
  4. Thought this probably warranted a new thread.
  5. It gets a little annoying how the writer keeps referring to Muldowney as "Muldowney II," but it's otherwise a GREAT article!  I'm now officially a Muldowney II fan!
  6. One player I don't believe I've seen in any photos/vidoes is incoming frosh Michael Dawson? But his twitter profile is definitely still all Zips.
  7. Ronin Chambers' hudl page He gets his butt low in his stance & has quick feet! Looks good!
  8. Thanks! I had forgotten about him. Too much to keep straight. Yeah, hopefully he's on the field this year! [edit]: FWIW, his twitter bio says "Akron Football Commit," and he retweeted something just a couple days ago, so the account is current.
  9. Can you help me out? Who is Cross? And you're saying he also held a few FBS offers?
  10. I've seen him in a couple of the photos posted by ZipsMbb. He must be taking summer courses & can't make all the workouts? I also noticed Camron Reese was not in a couple of the pictures, which really concerned me, but he's been in the last few (back row, 3rd from left).
  11. I can't carry a lengthy conversation concerning the 3-4, but I'd think Ward & Meeks are big enough to be every-down DE's. Josh Ward: 6-2, 225 Dylan Meeks: 6-2, 240 Michael Scott, listed at LB, is also big enough to play DE (6-3, 235). Sampson may be relegated to a 3rd down pass rush specialist at 6-2, 210 (Justin was an extremely good high school WR & that's where I thought he'd play at UA.) I like the beef we now have at DT Davon'te Jest: 6-1, 300 Logan Hawkins, 6-2, 295 Andy Jean-Baptiste: 6-5, 275 & JUCO newcomer John Mitchell: 6-3, 300
  12. True Freshman Ali Ali (2nd from right) certainly passes the eyeball test. He looks to be a legit 6'8".
  13. Spot on. Anymore he definitely fancies himself as more of an expert (I use the term loosely) commentator/analyst as opposed to a journalist. I don't think many other people do. Not waiting with baited breath for his annual "Little Engine that Tries" Akron Zips column.
  14. ABJ/GT: Coach Tom Arth Faces Numerous Questions as Zips Prepare for New Season Pretty good conversation-starting article by GT.
  15. ABJ: Zips hope to get leadership production from Kato Nelson, Alvin Davis
  16. Nice! I didn't notice that. I'm taking your word for it & noted it on the edited Post #1.
  17. I’m on my phone so can’t post the tweet, but it looks like we’ve received another verbal commit & I’m pretty excited about this one. John Mitchell @BossMoneyy_ 6-3, 300, 3-star DT from Independence CC
  18. FWIW, the RB’s all went together as a unit to see The Lion King & he was with them.
  19. We are ridiculously stacked at WR.
  20. Maishe Dailey & Bryan Trimble must be paying for their own schooling this year, no? We would have known by now if anyone else was transferring out.
  21. 6-8, 245, PF, Overland HS, Aurora, CO.
