  1. +1. If we win the MAC East this year it won't be by backing in. Our schedule is tough. We're gonna have to bring our A game to beat Buffalo and I'm afraid we're gonna have to bring our B+ game to beat Kent, NIU, EMU & Ohio. That's asking for quite a few well-played games without a let down. Fortunately, our team's strength is on the D side of the ball & it looks like those guys are hungry to rumble every week.
  2. One thing I've noticed is that there hasn't been much (any?) complaining about Milwee's play calling after the first three games. I don't complain about play calling much, simply because that's above my pay grade. But other, more knowledgeable posters have consistently been less-than-thrilled with some of the game's Milwee's called. Do you guys see growth here? We could have won the ISU game if Kato were a little more accurate with his passes (12-28 IIRC). I thought (as far as I could tell) it was a well called offensive game & a handful of times we had receivers open & simply missed them. Edwards at running back, I feel, is another impediment to the O's potential production. I feel more qualified in sizing up running backs, and Van really doesn't do it for me. I don't believe I've ever seen him make a guy miss or break a tackle. Bowden can sometimes be loyal to a fault & I think we're seeing this Achilles heel again with his insistence on keeping Van #1. I used to think Bowden's loyal-to-a-fault thinking was what was keeping Milwee at OC, but maybe not...?
  3. Nice Spark game summary
  4. ABJ (Associated Press): Zips stymied by Iowa State defense in 26-13 loss Worthless article. I've never been real high on Van Edwards at RB, so this stat struck me: "...until the Zips develop a consistent running game, the going could be tough. UA ran the ball 31 times for 91 yards against Iowa State with 56 of those yards coming from Nelson."
  5. ABJ (George Thomas): Zips look to continue upset minded play against Iowa State Cyclones
  6. I think I saw something similar during last nights Temple -v- Tulsa game. Temple's new slogan is "The Dark Side," & a couple of their fans had their faces painted like Darth Maul (kinda Temple's colors if you darken the red). Anyway, they had 4 students(?) dressed as Storm Troopers jumping around on the sideline all game. I pray this doesn't get as popular as Miami's Turnover Chain has.
  7. ABJ (George Thomas): Hard-hitting defensive back leading way for Zips
  8. Just ran into Sammy Laster at Pots & Pans downtown. Super nice young guy.
  9. Terry Pluto simply oozes condescension.
  10. ABJ (George Thomas): Captain Kyron Brown provided Zips lift needed to overcome Northwestern This is a great article. GT collected quotes from Bowden, Kyle Ritz, Ulysees Gilbert III, Kato & even Gerry Faust. GT addressed the QB-OL problems in the first half & gives injury updates on DeMarcus Lloyd (out for season) and Shawn Featherstone (TBD).
  11. ABJ (Marla Ridenour): Program-defining football victory affirms belief, fuels Zips' climb to next level
  12. Also some great shots! Thank you!
  13. Kato was dropping dimes. On the above video (2:30 mark) watch Josh Ward (#8 & lined up at DT) blow up their left guard to get to the QB & cause the fumble.
  14. ABJ: Victory over Northwestern a signature win for Zips, Bowden The offensive line experienced jitters, mostly due to inexperience, which led to eight penalties on that unit in the first half. A talk was needed at halftime. ... ...“But most importantly, we settled down on the offensive line and got settled into the game and let the bigness of the game get past us.”
  15. Hopefully we’re the ones who won’t want that game rescheduled as we’ll hopefully be in the MAC Championship Game. On to Detroit!
  16. We were the proverbial buzzsaw in the second half. Dominant offensively and defensively. (& I agree, it felt like Kato had more than 300 passing yards.)
  17. Listening to Frenchy, he was calling Bell's name. A lot. The way Frenchy was describing it, Bell wasn't just making tackles, he was laying hits down.
  18. I couldn't stream the game on B1G Network. Someone had previously said that B1G Network posts all games on YouTube. Is this correct? I could only find game highlights on YouTube. If someone finds the game replay available online could you post a link?
  19. Lol +1
  20. I thought I saw that too...
  21. ABJ/GT: Zips prepare for huge test as they head to Northwestern Nice game day article. "I think Nelson is a dynamic quarterback," Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald said. "He makes a lot of great things happen. I think the backfield is loaded. [Running back] Van Edwards jumped out to me and I thought [wide receiver jonah] Morris jumped out at me on that tape."
  22. Post #1 updated
  23. That sucks
  24. Good points. But probably I should have said I wish I had the same confidence about Kato which I had about Woody before his shoulder injury. Excited/anxious to see what the offense can do this week. Hopefully the weather's not too nasty.
