  1. I'm predicting we'll be fine next season. We lose DuVivier, but will add Hester & Loren Jackson. We also add Deng Riak down low & LePear Toles on the wing. PG: Hester, Jackson Wing: Ivey, Utomi, Parrish, Toles Post: Riak, Sayles, Poke I think we might redshirt Torrey Patton (who, once the game slows a bit, I think could be a good one), Cotton & Kostelac
  2. Watching ESPN3, Reghi simply said, "Groce decided to give him a DNP tonight." No additional information.
  3. School's out, it's going to be -100 degrees out and we're playing Concord. Anyone venturing out to the game? The crowd is going to be nonexistent.
  4. Have to remind myself how very young this team is. Duvivier really displayed great senior leadership down the stretch. Like CK mentioned, he's cold-blooded & wanted the ball in his hands at crunch time. I REALLY appreciate his demeanor and am happy that he's getting a year to mentor our young players. We played a lot better in the second half last night, but still haven't pulled out a road W. Typical of a young team. Once again, last night there were times we had 3 freshmen, one sophomore and one junior on the floor.
  5. Time to see if we can shake off our 2nd-half road woes.
  6. This is true. The only player who could have returned that I'm wishing was still here is Antino.
  7. E-man didn't do much tonight. Think Sayles should start? I'd consider it.
  8. We've gotten blown out of our 3 road games. Hope this trend ends tomorrow.
  9. Duvivier's been ice cold in our 3 road games.
  10. I was blown away when I saw that yesterday. We were shocked & blown away by Fleck's recruiting... and now this? What's going on up there?
  11. Wow. Well doesn't that suck. Good thing he's not on the team. There is ZERO reason to do that. I hate it when I see a young man get stupid around negative influences & throw away their future. It's so easy to get carried away & be dumb when you're young. And yes, that's definitely him.
  12. Zips' coach John Groce seeks more consistency from his players in Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic
  13. This is where my thinking is as well. Next year may be a little rough at first with the QB (whoever that may be) & new WR's having to develop some chemistry.
  14. Earlier in the season I was firmly in the camp of questioning whether Bowden should be back next year. Especially after our win at BUGS. I know it sounds odd to want Bowden's seat to be hot after a win, but that BUGS game was possibly the ugliest, most poorly played (by both teams) football game I've ever witnessed. We won, but I was thoroughly unimpressed. That performance @ BUGS, coming on the heels of being humiliated by Penn State & dominated in the 2nd half against Iowa State, had me almost completely disillusioned with Bowden & Co. And, honestly, I'm still more than a bit salty about how badly we lost both the MACC & Boca Bowl. But, having said that, I believe Bowden should definitely get an extension. It's the recruiting. Last year's recruiting class was FINALLY a good one. As is this year's class. It seems as if recruiting has finally gotten untracked. I'm expecting us to be better next year than we were this year, and better the year after that. We've got some really good young talent ready to take the field next season & we signed more just yesterday. I think these last two recruiting classes contain more top talent than Akron's brought in in the last decade combined. I've been waiting my entire adult life for the Zips to be the destination for top local talent and Bowden & Co. seem to have finally done that.
  15. That is simply awesome!!
  16. Another well intentioned, though slightly discombobulated post from Z.I.P.
  17. I was also thinking Hester, but Hester's listed on our current gozips.com roster as #2.
  18. No. But I almost posted last night saying I've no idea who he's talking about. :/ It's gotta be that walk-on that some assistant coaches saw playing pick up ball in the rec center, no? By the way, how bush-league does that sound?^^ Crazy
  19. Alex Ramart showing fantastic leadership already! He sent out congratulatory texts to all the recruits & though each text was different, he basically told them he's excited they're part of the team & can't wait till they're on campus & they can get to work together! Alex Ramart's twitter page P.s. Can't wait for this QB competition in the spring.
  20. Good catch. My bad.
  21. Alright, update as of 6:00 p.m. Signed LOI's: WR/S Jalen Hooks DB Rich Hall OL R.J. Kelly DL Logan Hawkins OL Vincent Fonte OL Ben Phillis RB Devanier Floyd WR Daishawn Brimage WR/S Gavin Blunt RB Keyondre White Still awaiting word on/from: WR Timothy Scippio. His twitter profile still says "WR @ The University of Akron" OL Ronald Beasley. who's twitter profile still reads "Committed to The University of Akron" DT Ramon Fields. Difficult to tell from his twitter but he may end up playing at a lower level ATH Te'Cory Tutson. Wasn't able to find anything on Te'Cory WR Treon Sibley. Can't tell anything by his twitter profile. But I know for certain he was/is planning on playing for UA. I'm gonna go out on a completely unfounded limb, but take a guess that he may be a academic non-qualifier. And speaking of academic non-qualifiers, we had a handful last year, so I'm not sure how that works against this year's scholarship count (I'm confused by this every year). Off the top of my head: S Reggie Corner Jr. RB/WR Marquise Bridges OL Marcus Kidd DB Marquess Callaway DL Tracy Jordan DL Matthew Hanson
