I concur with Jackie Windon, that second half Miami played to win and the Zips played not to lose. The Zips, as Jackie put it, "were playing east-to-west."
I was a bit concerned about playing NIU a mere 5 days after traveling to Mount Pleasant to face CMU.
But that turn-around is not nearly as tough as the turn-around NIU has. They play at BYU a mere 5 days before coming to Akron.
Hopefully the Huskies will be a little worn out & flat.
Excellent news! Adding a 3-star LB & 2 DL (Jest being a 300-pounder).
Jean-Baptiste's highlight show him playing DE (he can really move for a man his size!), but at 270-pounds, he could also play some much-needed DT.
Both our games against BUGS were nail-biters. BUGS seems to have a mental block against us. There's no way that team should lose to our depleted, young roster. They've got A LOT of firepower on that team:
Frye
Turner
Lillard
Koch
Wiggins
There's no way they should be losing to our young squad with one player over 6-6
For next year's ('19) recruiting class we already have three commitments - and all players from Florida. So I don't think we have to worry about Bowden & Co. pulling out of the Sunshine State. (See post #1 in the "2019 Recruiting" thread.)
However, for '19 we have also offered a LB from Cincinnati, Jarred Uran (La Salle). IIRC we haven't done much (any?) recruiting of southern Ohio since Bowden's been here. So maybe this is in response to this new initiative?
Sadly, I agree with Clark.
This Akron Beacon game day story reminded me that when we beat BUGS, at home, on Cotton's last-second shot, Sayles contributed 14 points and 4 rebounds.
I believe Demajeo Wiggins and Derek Koch will have their way with us tonight.
