^^I had a good view of that play & saw that Sampson had only grabbed him by the jersey. I just figured the refs got the call wrong, which would be really easy to do in that situation. Didn't know the rule had been broadened. Thanks, Doc.
P.s., I watched Sampson explaining to Bowden he only grabbed the jersey. I was a bit surprised Akron didn't challenge the call but now understand why they didn't.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe we've had a legit striking forward since Darren Mattocks. Seems to be a weak point in our recruiting efforts. Do striking forwards prefer not to play on a team that values possession & passing?
We've also got East's Daishawn Brimage coming in next year who's 6-1, 200 & has fantastic hands, as well as Ellet's Marquise Bridges (5-10, 180) who's speed is jaw-dropping. I'm eager to see how his game translates & watch our coaching staff try various ways of getting the ball in his hands. -He was a RB in high school but I'm betting they attempt to use him in the slot next year.
Give me the bottom half of the Big Ten: Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue or Rutgers.
Just say no to Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska & especially Penn State & Wisconsin.
(Personally, I like playing Ohio State.)
Good call. He's the best high school back I've ever seen. (Including Beanie Wells - who didn't have much of an O-line blocking for him.) Ricky Powers was a little before my time.
