  1. I hate seeing Gilliam on the bench almost as much as I hate seeing McClanahan on the floor.
  2. Sweet. Winston-Salem is undefeated, and, I belive, ranked #1 in the country.
  3. Someone said earlier that you could get a stream of the game on the NCAA site, but it's probably just a stationary camera feed. It's a link to ESPN3. Will you keep us updated?
  4. Yeah, I'm not getting it.
  5. I'm not able to get ESPN3. Any other links?
  6. Poor Michael Green. You were late for English class today?! GONE!!!
  7. Should be here tomorrow @ 2:00.
  8. Watching the Cardinal Mooney game rebroadcast on STO & Mooney's RB, #3 Roosevelt Griffin looks very good. 5'9" 190, Sr. They also have a stud junior LB who really passes the eyeball test, #9 Courtney Love (poor kid), 6'1" 225.
  9. Stick in there St. V fan I hear a St. V alum will be taking over the program shortly.
  10. You beat Zipmeister to the punch! No he didn't. Zipmeister understands satire when he reads it. I don't care if it's the second or third Tuesday of next week; I am looking forward to the PW era. You're right. That went entirely over my head! And +1! PW Go Zips!
  11. Yep...he is gone. Will be next Toledo coach. Good for him. I think he has way better chance for success there. The lack of HC experiance will not be as great as he will keep many of the staff. And all he has to do is tweak the schedule to fit is ideas. I am happy for him. I think the MAC is on the upswing. +1. UT is a better situation for Matt Campbell & I also hope he succeeds (his being from Perry, MUC & all). And UA is not only the perfect fit for Paul Winters, but Paul Winters is probably the perfect person for UA's program - local guy, AKRON guy, offensive minded, passionate about the U, passionate about Akron, will recruit locally, experience in the MAC, experience recruiting MAC-level talent. It sounds like a 4-way win for UT, UA, Matt Campbell & Paul Winters. Go Zips!
  12. No way Ole Miss wins any QB battle where Ianello isn't involved. It's like thinking Bryan Hipsher would start at any basketball program where his dad wasn't the head coach. Either Nicely is the QB in 2012, and we run the spread. Or some new JUCO is our QB. Or this guy. We seem to be forgetting about Kyle Pohl. He was rather highly rated coming out of high school. 3-stars, I believe. Ohio North-South All-Star Game participant.
  13. Derrick Tarver the highest rated Zips @ #18. No Jimmal Ball?!?!
  14. Man, this is a soap opera... for dudes.
  15. Is there any way we can get out of our game w/ Tennessee?
  16. This is why Proenza had better put together a hell of a Search Committee to find the coach. F the opinion fans on ZNO, make the right hire and lets get this thing turned around. Ummm..... no. This administration knows they have F'd the fans enough, and they are not going to make a hire such as Ianello again that may come out of a "process" but leaves everyone saying WTF and then places the blame squarely on them if and when he fails. If they all want to save their asses, they'll hire someone the fans and alumni are behind, which at this point can really only either be a big name or Paul Winters (Mike Johnson has alumni support too, but doesn't want the gig). If they go with a choice of the fans, everyone shares in the blame as a community when the guy fails. They go out on a limb, its squarely on their ass again, and they know they can't survive that. Come on..... To make a decison because it is safe? Absolutely the wrong approach! Those in the "administration" are paid to LEAD and make strategic decisions for this university. Plus, I am not convinced it is anywhere near unanimous among alumni that they are insisting on an "Akron Man". I'm not. I want the best coach available. That might be Winters, but I think there might be better people available. I will be angry if I find UA did not make every effort to find the best person they can get. If a legitimate process leads to the hiring of Paul Winters, he will have my 100% support. Anything less, and they will have people waiting to say "I told you so" if Winters isn't successful. How would that even be a "safe" approach for the administration? Good post. And they are indeed searching for the best people available. There are some great coaches out there. It all depends on whether they can get them to come to Akron. Any updates on Matt Campbell. Right now I'm more excited over him than anyone.
  17. Idk, UCLA was mediocre, at best this year. And that with a gorgeous campus (a cousin of mine graduated from UCLA), located in southern california, LA no less, USC kinda down right now. What's wrong with that program? USC beat them 50-0. Though, granted, they're plaing PAC-10 schools/not MAC schools, but they were just as uncompetitive as the Zips in most of their loses. Some pretty severe beatdowns this year: Texas 49 UCLA 20 Stanford 45 UCLA 19 Arizona 48 UCLA 12 Utah 31 UCLA 6 (6?!) USC 50 UCLA 0 (0?!) Oregon 49 UCLA 31 (the game wasn't that close)
  18. I agree. Hire me a coach that will win now. I don't care what anybody says about our cupboard. There is no reason that if we had an "awful coach" the last two seasons that we shouldn't expect a "good hire" to win us 4-5 games coming in. And it should take a maximum of 3 seasons to start competing for bowl eligibility. If we have a 1-2 win season next year I am done with this program. Come on guys, we're pretty awful. And we're losing most of our starting offensive and defensive linemen. I'm with ITZ in that I just want to see us take the next step, which would mean being competitive in MAC games, next season. I do agree w/ g-mann that we should be competing for bowl eligibility by the 3rd season. But being bowl eligible only means 6 wins, right? I think that curve (6 wins by year 3) is realistic.
  19. +1. Classic night.
  20. Where do you guys get this information? Dr. Suess. He's in the english department. I'm not being a smart ass. It's a sincere question. There are a few people who seemingly have inside info. Where's this come from? Acquaintances in the athletic department? Local businessmen who are involved? Is this student talk from the Student Union? Hints from GA's? I was going for a satire type post. If you re read it you will see it. I imagine you saw "Paul Winters is our guy" and missed the last part that makes my statement total bs. Of course it isn't funny if you have to explain it You'll have to forgive me, I'm in the middle of a very boring 12 hour shift. Aaah, nice!

  22. You beat Zipmeister to the punch!
  23. Where do you guys get this information?
  24. Nobody is trying to force you to predict who the next coach will be. But if you had your druthers, who would you want to see hired? I've made it clear that while I like Winters and think he would do a respectable job here, I will not be nearly as disappointed if he doesn't get the job as you apparently will be if he does. There are quite a few additional names I've seen mentioned here that would get me excited for the direction the program is taking. I'm getting excited over Matt Campbell. Last week I had never heard of the guy, but have just recently become familiar with his resume. -2-time 1st Team All-American defensive lineman for Mount Union. -Part of 5 National Championship teams @ Mount. -OC @ Mount for 2 seasons before moving to BUGS. -Now in his 3rd year as OC of Toledo's incredible offense. What impresses me is his playing experience is on the DL, but he's just proven to be phenomenally successsful as an OC. Plus with his experience in coaching the OL, his experience & success in recruiting elite-MAC-level talent and his being from nearby Massillon, man, this guy is awfully intriguing.
  25. Top Drawer's #3 player in the country. Crazy talent Porter assembles. The "Pied Piper of Akron."
