OK... I trust that. I was writing my last reply while you were replying... not very quick sometimes. Means that he misses Tulsa... back for OSU...? By the time he rejoins the team... they should be jellin. I haven't read this thread in it's entirerty, so I'm just jumping in here (forgive me if this has been discussed) but the team will be jelling without Holmes, so there's a danger of him being kept out of the loop for the entire year, no? He'd have to be awfully good to sit out the first six games, and then just jump into a starting/contributing role against Columbus, right?

I'm pretty sure he transferred out. Dissappointing to me; I thought/think he has a lot of potential.

I'm anxious to see what RFr Jamar Williams (5-11, 210) can do on the field. He was rather highly thought of coming out of HS.

Bistro Bella Vita Not as much seafood as bistro. Everything from seafood to steaks to pasta to pizza. One of my all time favorite dinner places when I was traveling in corporate America. I'd love to hear back on your dining experience. Toledo has been a successful program in the past and will be successful again. People want to be associated with that. BTW, something happened to me yesterday that made me feel good about UofA and the future. I had a chance to speak with the AD from UNCC at a professional event. I was telling her about how poorly UofA has done since opening The Big Dialer. She looked me dead in the eyes and said things would get better because Akron has too much going for it for things not to get better. She is well on the back end of her career (37 years as a coach, assist AD and AD since around 1997) and doesn't have to pull any punches. It was nice to speak with a confident, competent and smart athletic director who is not looking to her next job because she is in her last job. Much thanks, GP1! I ate at Bistro Bella last Thursday and it was great. Nice upscale casual atmosphere - I was on vacation, so wore flip flops, board shorts & a Polo but felt right at home. Great menu, very extensive wine list (including a very impressive selection of >$500 bottles) and pretty good beer selection. I had the seafood spaghetti - "shrimp, scallop and mussels with peppers, tomatoes and olives in a spicy tomato sauce." It was excellent. An added bonus - from my seat I could see the rear portion of the Van Andel Arena - one of the arenas that I would hope the city of Akron and the U would look at while deciding upon what to build in either downtown or on campus. It made for a really nice afternoon, so thanks again!

I was hoping that CM would have clearly separated himself from PN by this point in time. PN has NFL-caliber strength and size. But PN's lack of accuracy was an absolute killer last year. It appeared to demoralize the entire O side of the ball (at least the WR crew). The WR's did drop some passes, I'll give PN that. But not that many. Usually the body language of the WR's spoke "I'm absolutely shocked" if a pass was delivered both on time and accurately. Usually PN underthrew, overthrew or threw behind his WR's. Even if a pass was completed, the pass was rarely thrown in-stride to the WR to optimize the possibility of yards-after-the-catch, which is usually where most of the yards are made on a pass play. by mid-season it looked like the WR's were simply going through the motions, not honestly expecting PN to be able to accurately deliver the ball.

This is the boat I'm in. I have absolutely no idea about what to expect because I have absolutely no feel for this team right now. I am excited about the increased depth on both lines and the athleticism of the WR's & RB. But I also know I was not expecting us to be as down-right-awful as we were last year (but I really don't want to think about that right now).

Also, the top 2 seeds getting byes straight into the semi-final round? It actually may be nice to have a warm-up game in Cleveland before the MACC Final Four on Friday night. And actually, I love the MACC Tourney & plan my entire week around it. Now, if the Zips do better in the regular season and earn a #1 or #2 seed, that means I'll only have 2 Zips games to enjoy. Right now I don't think I'm too thrilled with the new format.

They have FIFTEEN videos from the men's soccer media day up on Youtube. That's not enough for you? I had not seen that yet. I stand corrected. I mean, it's not like anyone would know about that unless they were looking for it on Youtube. Why wasn't it posted to Gozips? Or why wasn't it shared on facebook or twitter via one of the athletic department accounts? These are things people want to see but they make little effort to bring them to anyone's attention. Exactly. Its like Microsoft not advertising a new Windows release. How has the Cleveland televised media coverage been? Rat bastards.

This does mean KD must have his lineup & rotations down as the conference season begins. Last year's team took the entire regular season to jel. Not that the hot team can't win anyway, but this system does reward the most consistent team. Look for Western to be the #1 seed. Ball State may get the #2 slot. The MAC East is just too brutal.

Sounds like Nicely should be the starter. IMHO unless the newcomer is clearly the superior player, the returning starter/veteran should get the nod. ABJ article says Rossi has been getting plenty of reps @ fullback d/t returning starter Austin Bailey struggling w/ an injured hamstring. Idk, Bailey is an All-MAC caliber FB. I'd still like to see Rossi line up beside Wagner. Especially w/ Firestone product Cody Grice (6-0, 240) on the roster; another FB w/ a lot of potential (at the very least Grice should be a competent backup FB).
