I thought Toledo CC's RB also looked very good. No Sperling, but he could play for us. Their S/WR named Awl is a UT commit. UT recruited him as a safety. I wonder if Hoban's Javion Crable is being looked at as a WR? This is his first year playing the position & he's such a great all-around athlete he's made the transition very well. I believe he's 6'2" 215. Hoban has a few juniors I hope we're looking at in DE's Devin Bell & Jordan Pritchard-Sewell and LB Ricky Williams. I hope we're also looking at Soph. LB Eli Lee. St. Ed's Jr. QB is a good one. Maybe worth giving a walk-on opportunity. They're not in the finals, but I hope we're looking at Massillon Jr. LB Dorian Pringle (Copley). Massillon's Sr. RB Wiltrell Hartson was also good - maybe a step slow for D-1 college.

Thanks! I need the dialogue on this one; it's like sitting on a psychiatrists couch. Lol. I just wish there was more information coming at us about this one. Anything. Bread crumbs. It's confusing and there has been zero smoke or word on the street about why Akron didn't offer him a scholarship opportunity. Neither did Kent State. I wish there was just something out there as to why, other than just Zero Dark Thirty silence on the subject. It's aggravating to those of us who love to follow both Zips recruiting and local recruiting, and then to have radio silence on the subject when it seems obvious that the Vin Diagram circles are overlapping. 😂

Indeed. Seems like it's going to add a significant amount of constant butt kissing. To me the portal sounds like it would be exhausting for coaches.

I was also thinking that the portal may necessitate coaching staffs adding an additional coach just to monitor the portal? It seems like the coaches would now need to be keeping tabs on every college player in the nation so that if/when they enter the portal you already know about them & whether or not you're interested so you can quickly offer them a scholarship? Maybe they've already been doing this all along? Idk. But with so many players entering the portal it's flooded and to me seems downright overwhelming.

Still completely flabbergasted, aggravated, confused and down right angry we didn't pursue Lamar Sperling. Why even call ourselves The University of Akron if we don't pursue this Akronite? The painful, inexplicable, egregious, so obvious it's like being hit in the head with a cinder block recruiting oversight is infuriating enough to justify throwing furniture around the room and glassware against the wall. I knew without a shadow of a doubt to go hard after Lamar when he was only a sophomore. Now, Hoban's RB, a school less than 5 minutes from campus, is Ohio's Mr. Football and is heading to... Buffalo. Did anyone else see his other-worldly performance against Toledo Central Catholic last night? He is literally the best high school running back I've ever seen and being from Akron I've seen some spectacular HS RB's. Beanie Wells, Tyrell Sutton, Delonte Carter, Tyson Gulley, Todd Sibley, DeaMonte Trayanum, Antonio Pittman, this is just off the top of my head... and let me also add Marcus Sanders (Ravenna), E.J. Lilley (Alliance), and Morgan Williams and Demarlo Rozier (McKinley). Because I love JoeMo, and know he's going to turn us around, I HATE feeling this way. I'm angry to the point where I'm not even very excited about today's season finale. Anyone who's been on this board for more than 2 days knows I'm not like this. I just had to vent and get this off my chest. I hope this is therapeutic and helps. But I'm absolutely confused and pissed at such... arrogance? Incompetence? I'm crossing my fingers that this egregious, inexcusable oversight is neither arrogance nor incompetence, but in fact wisdom 10 miles above my pay grade. But just wait and see what Lamar does at Buffalo. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

It seems like the portal must be putting a lot more work on football coaching staffs' plates. No more simply recruiting high school kids every year.

We’re really missing Dawson’s shooting from the wing. I think Nate Johnson is going to be a future pro, but he’s way to hesitant shooting the ball right now.

You and I are on the same page. I say start Tavari at PG, X & Henderson with Sammy & Freeman and cross our fingers that X has his usually solid game, while Hankerson & Sammy find their strokes. Nate, Clarke, and Tribble off the bench. The announcers noted something I’ve thought myself and that is that Sammy’s shot looks good & fluid. It’s just not falling. Idk.

I also thought they were extremely gracious considering how abysmally we played tonight. It was an embarrassment. We looked like the Washington Generals. Tavari was the only player who could throw it in the ocean tonight. 3 point shots are what we’re trying to generate on offense but we can’t shoot the 3 😕

He was our best player again tonight, as he was against Miss. St. (Or whoever we played in Game 3 in the Caymans.)

Thompson has really been tearing it up lately!💪💪
