  1. Barricaded in the house from the weather...who else out there's gonna be listening?
  2.  Quincy Milum
  3. OSU Luckeyes. Oh wait, they didnt build it up that way, they just play that way now. Look what it nets?
  4. Played 4 time zones away, not in the JAR, less than 2 days after a botched flight that literally lasted 24 hours, with injuries everywhere. The SCUpstate game means nothing.Yep, and honestly if we win by less than 30, I'll be disappointed. This is a good statement game that the Zips can LEARN how to close things out. I hope coach leaves his foot on the accelerator.Zips 88NC Central 52
  5. Zippy is now up by more than 1000 and Goldy up by 4200...it's gonna take everyone's best effort EVERY DAY to win this thing if we can make the finals.
  6. Dear Coach Dambrot,Do you wonder why we don't see better attendance? Tomorrow morning a story will be run in the beacon journal about how a the Zips blew a 10 point lead with 5 minutes left in the game. Our highest profile game of the year and the Zips choke to an extent beyond belief. Coach, win those games and maybe the city will begin to pay attention...until then, enjoy "almost" winning and 2500 person crowds at the JAR.~frustrated Zips fan.P.S. FOUL SHOTS AND FINISH THE GAME!DISGUSTING!
  7. DISGUSTING. :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:
  8. All I want for Christmas is a Zips team that will STEP ON THE THROAT OF THEIR OPPONENT!!!!!!! FINISH THE GAME!!!!!
  9. Seems like this is the most the crowd is into the game moreso than all night....let's hope the zips can hold em off....
  10. Starting off the half playing slightly better. Looks like some no-calls now are haunting us. Zips by 4....15 min to go.
  11. That'd be nice. It's great to know we played a HORRIBLE half and still somehow lead by 2 at the half.
  12. 1 for 11 WOOOO!!!
  13. One thing is clear to me thus far: this is a VERY winnable game. The Zips drop a couple of those threes and they're in firm command of this game. Hopefully they start to fall...
  14. Is anyone able to find a line for tonights game? No one seems to have it listed. Sportsline.com predicts a five-point win by Winthrop.Tonights MAC predictions:Illinois State 82EMU 68Indiana State 49Miami 64 Toledo 68Houston 86Air Force 77NIU 72
  15. Gozips.com lists television as "none." Not that it hasnt been wrong before If anyone can confirm the game on TV, I'll be there.
  16. Our board's not exactly cracklin with convos either.
  17. Mr. Wood will see you now .... Are you serious!!?? This guy may be the best big man UA has EVER had!Wow ..Kidding aside, it was nice to meet you on Saturday RZ.By "big man" i mean a true center, 6'9"+. We can hope Bardo will fill that role later this year. J Wood is one heck of a PF though. And ditto, it's always nice to put a face with a name with some folks on the board.
  18. Well, short turn around after Wyoming on Saturday. This Zips travel to Charlotte to take on the Big South's perennial power, the Winthrop Eagles in what is probably the highest profile non-conference opponent this side of the BracketBuster. The Eagles come into the game with a 4-3, also having last played on Saturday, a lopsided 70-53 loss @ West Virginia. Winthrop will have its struggles this year, after graduating 3 starters, the loss of head coach Gregg Marshall to Wichita State, and the tragic passing of 2006 backup point guard D'Andre Adams. Thus far in 2007, the Eagles own unimpressive victories over Div II Queens University (Charlotte), UIC(3-4), Georgia Tech (3-4) and @Eastern Carolina (3-4). Winthrop has fallen at the hands of Baylor (5-1), Missouri St (4-1), and West Virginia (5-1): all solid teams.Winthrop's 6,100 Seat Coliseum proves to be a tough place to play for opponents. The Eagles were a combined 31-1 at the Coliseum in the 2005 and 2006 seasons. However, this year are just 1-1 after falling to Missouri State on November 25th. The Eagles run a legitimate 9 man rotation, led by Senior guard Michael Jenkins (6'3" 195, 15.0/4.0/3.3) and Senior Forward Taj McCullough (6'7 227, 14.3/5.6/1.6). The Eagles, like the Zips, lack a legitimate big man of talent. The most interesting matchup of this game will be at the center position with Jeremiah Wood matching up with McCullough. The scales tip into the favor more so for the Zips at the 1 and 2 position with talented seniors Nick Dials and Cedrick Middleton (Or Cadrick Middletown if you go by the AP wire report from the Wyoming game). With consistent guard play from these two and Freshman Steve McNees, the Zips should prevail. Of course, at this point the Zips are relying MUCH too heavily on one Mr. Jeremiah Wood and without him clogging the middle (i.e. foul trouble), this one could get ugly.Zips 75Eagles 70
  19. Thanks for saying it. A lot of us are thinking it. Stop making excuses and show up. Or are we supposed to somehow schedule the entire SEC, ACC and BIG 11 to come into the JAR every non-conference season to get the city's interest. Give me a break, these people asking for this would be the same ones asking why we get beaten handily in all of our home games. Enough excuses.
  20. Yeepppp....this is gonna be closer than the line indicates. Wyoming has considerable size and talent both inside and out. The key will be shutting down the Cowboys' back court combo of Ewing (17.8/3.8/5.0) and Jones (15.6/6.4/4.6). IF the middleton/dials/mcnees can handle these two, the zips win handily. Wyoming has size down low but lacks skill with the exception of 6'8" 205lb Junior forward Ryan Dermody (10.2/6.2 in 30mpg) and 6'8" 210lb glass-cleaner Joseph Taylor (7.4/6.8/1.6). Look for the Zips to put these two on the line when they get down low. Dermody and Taylor are 56% and 52% respectively for their careers in FT shooting (my, they'd fit in with this zips lineup )Zips 81 <---first prediction of free 6 wings from scorchers.Wyoming 74 OK, off to BW3 on campus to watch miami/louisville with some other zips fans. Feel free to join us, we'll likely be there till tip-off.
  21. ouch...
  22. So there's no "Ohio" advantage vs those warm weather boys of USF? The last cold weather games they played were as follows:UCONN 2USF 0 (Storrs, CT)Syracuse 2USF 1 (Syracuse, NY)Rutgers 3USF 1 (Piscataway, NJ)GO ZIPS!
  23. I'd like to chalk this whole issue to Bleacher Bum and I graduating and buying upper reserve season tickets. Maybe it's different from our perspective up there, but things seem pretty tame from up top. I believe one the most effective things the rowdies can do from so close is the simple jumping and "OHHHHHHHHH." As a past player (yeah, just high school) this is easily one of the most distracting things. Moreso, at least, than spoken chants. We noticed that this was used just ONCE the entire second half when Temple was shooting at the band-end of the arena. It's early, I have faith things will be in order by the time the MAC season starts.
  24. Hmmm...crowd was similar to last week...maybe a little larger. I'd guess in the neighborhood of 2,500-2,700. Rowdies were unimpressive, sad to say. Band side was packed, opposite side was about half full. Nice to see people on both ends at least standing and paying attention to the game. We need Mike Bardo to being to produce or J Wood will be burnt out by the beginning of the conference season. We lack size, but luckily so did temple. Zips won the rebounding battle fairly handily, I believe. We're gonna deal with another year of poor free throw shooting. Zips were in the neighborhood of 55% today. Just awful. McNees has the ability to create his own shot, it'll develop over the season. I'm happy to see that. Cedrick will be the difference maker in lot of games, unbelievable touch from the outside, better than last year. He's the only one right now of creating his own shot from the perimeter. McNees should be able to do that consistently soon. Defense played inspired, it's the only reason we won the game. Let's hope the crowds keep growing throughout the season. See everyone saturday.GO ZIPS!Yes, but it was more than saturday. Not a bad guess by me.
