I find it ironic that Akron who is noted on their map as a major area recruiter (and the only school from the MAC) hasn't offered a single one of their fantastic 22 a scholarship, but Toledo and K S U have verbals from a member of this group.

I agree about Rutgers academic reputation. I've suggested in the past that Akron should rename the school The State University of New Jersey so our alumni can claim they graduated from a prestigious East coast university.

Many here have criticized the athletic department for it's lack of marketing acumen. I believe the article to which the Collector refers demonstrates a step in the correct direction. Please note the package price is not $1,500; it's only $1,499! If they had offered the opportunity to cover the price in just three easy payments I'd swear we had recruited a marketing genius from QVC. In any event congratulations. I think the Zips are capable of beating (or losing to) any team in this tourney.

You are absolutely correct. One of the things I liked about living in the Central time zone was that the evening news came on at 10 instead of 11 each evening. 82, I'm sure whatever you specialized in at Arizona was the exception, but in the 1980s there weren't too many schools with a bigger party school reputation than Arizona. Those guys made Ohio U students look like Rhodes scholars. The major obstacle to concentrating on your studies was the clothes the coeds were (not) wearing.

Losing a team captain has to be a devastating loss for the program. I just hope it doesn't have a ripple effect on the women's swim team.
