I will be going to the Baylor game tomorrow (I guess since some on the board are too thin skinned to read the words "Wake Forest", I can not say Wake Forest. We don't want to offend anyone who is offended by the words Wake Forest. Wake Forest could mean something in another language so I don't want to say Wake Forest too much. The words Wake Forest may cause some sort of a wake that will not allow people to see the forest through the trees. I'm not sure, but we want to make certain we stay away from the words Wake Forest at any cost. Even interesting comparisons between the Wake Forest and UofA are not allowed even though there are amazing similarities between the two schools on some level. So when I say I went to the Baylor game, keep in mind they are playing at Wake Forest. And by "at Wake Forest", I don't mean Wake Forest, NC. Wake Forest, NC is a city around Raleigh where the original Wake Forest started before some very wealthy person built a campus in Winston-Salem. Wake Forest is a school in Winston-Salem, NC that has an angry, mean faced minister as the mascot. If Jim Grobe doesn't get better play calling this season, that minister is really going to be mad at him, but like most ACC schools, Wake Forest is a basketball school first. It's funny, in the wake of that last sentence, it makes me think that the average sized person playing basketball at an ACC school might think they are standing in a forest because the players are so tall.). The plan is to watch the Zips play at the Fox & Hound in Winston-Salem then head over for the 3:30 Baylor kick off.I will put a special post on the board tomorrow with my thoughts.Going to Baylor games are fun. It will be interesting to see if the team they play will continue their slide downward since their last ACC championship.You could use a special code to avoid offending the thin skinned. How about every time you would normally write Wake Forrest, write Fake Worest instead. They will never be able to figure out what's going on. You could also switch the first letters in Demon Deacons so they can't figure that out either.

Actually Blount (who was kicked out of the Ducks first practice this year for hot-headedness) didn't really shake the hand of the guy he was supposed to during the pregame good sportsmanship handshake ceremony at mid field, stunk up the field during the game, and after the game was fighting with his own players most of the way across the field where he happened upon the unsuspecting and completely innocent BSU student/athlete. If you think about it, if you had spent the previous week running your mouth about how you were going to run all over Boise State, then gained a whopping 5 yards for the whole game, and then some cracker tells you "good game" you might take it personally. I still think the kid has a future in the UFC.

I saw the replay on ESPN (also watched it live) and they showed the Boise State player giving the UofO player a congratulatory tap on the chest/shoulder area while telling him "good game." He did not run away after doing this, but did drop like a bag of rocks after getting clocked. I thought it was a really good punch: did not telegraph it, excellent placement to the side of the chin, good follow through.

It would have to be someone who is enthusiastic about UofA sports, opinionated, and not easily dissuaded by the futility of tilting at windmills. Zach, are you available?edit: and you should get lance99 to do a guest commentary every week called, "What's the Plan?"

Yes they have Aplan. They are going to run till the sun go down and play shootout every week. It's unstopable.

That's a terrible marketing strategy. Also, you could argue that we haven't really had football for the past 50 years, at least not football like almost every other team in division I-A.Actually, I was going to suggest adding them to the MAC. They're already averaging more attendance than half the schools in the league. Speaking of which, maybe I'll go stir up some conference expansion trouble on the MAC boards...You heard it here. The kid is against scheduling seven Saturday home football games.

I can't believe UAKid, er, I mean Zach hasn't pointed out the obvious marketing lessons we can all learn from Old Dominion. If you want to build up interest , first drop football for about a half a century and then when you bring it back schedule seven home games all on Saturday.

So far you have rejected: US News, Carnegie Foundation and High School counselors with college placement responsibility. I'm sure Akron would rank high on, say, a listing of plasma sales by students? Most empty seats at sporting events? Least full-time faculty? Most parking garages? Least parking spaces per enrolled student? Most NCAA violations for a single b-ball coach? Least football recruits to return after freshman year?(Psst. I've taught classes there -- and I don't have a teaching degree.)I'm guessing then that the course you taught was not in the Education school because those are the only faculty on any campus that might have a teaching degree.

Fball practice with the web cams on. After watching for several minutes I have concluded that anyone who could obtain valuable information about the team by watching the web cams is a genius. A lot of time goes by between cam shots.

Maybe state of the art deicing equipment to prevent the problem. Either way it will enhance my game day experience. Without these two stairwell covers I believe the cost of the stadium would have come in at about $6 million.
