  1. Then someone should tell The University of Wisconsin, because their site shows us playing the Badgers in 7 months. It was obvious to me a couple years ago that Akron had scheduled 13 games for 2008 and one of them wasn't Hawaii. If you check old threads on this site you will see that I pointed this out, and asked if anyone knew what was going on. Got no satisfactory answer from you guys so I went to a very high AU authority who told me the MAC office was going to line up a replacement for us on the UW schedule. Do you see UW on our schedule?
  2. This is all a real interesting discussion based on a bad initial post. The Game with Wisconsin was cancelled years ago.
  3. It's especially difficult to believe since you told them that's what you were doing before you did it.
  4. If the rest of his body grows to catch up with his calves he will resemble Godzilla.
  5. Probably won't be Wright State. Its their year to play at home.
  6. Yeah, you're right pal. There's no real market for women's basketball in this country. Just ask Pat Summitt. For 99.9% of the country, the only way a womens BBall game would outdraw a hai lai match in person or on television is if the cheerleaders were naked and giving away beer in the stands.
  7. nielsen claimed only one person was watching. So you were the one.
  8. grounds.I seen you said groups.
  9. The chief whiner is Mike Hartsock. We like to make fun of him cause he really thinks hes something, but what he mainly is is short. Think he could have been a jockey if he wasn't such a great announcer.
  10. Loved seeing all the UD fans sitting on their hands at the end of the half.
  11. Passing to Woods is a lot like handing the ball to the other team.
  12. Please don't judge an entire fanbase because of a few posters on a fan messageboard. Anyways, we already knew Dayton has beaten top 25 teams this year. We all heard about how they beat Pitt. We know you guys are ranked ...we get it. I have no questions about your team, except for one: I have seen some fans wondering wether you guys will even play Wright against us. Are they serious? How bad is he hurt? Or do they just think that they can overlook this game? OK, maybe that was three questions.Anyways, What the hell are you talking about with our SOS? We only play teams that are willing to give us a home game for playing them, like you guys will next year. Our opponents' agerage RPI is 161 so far, and playing Dayton will boost that little stat quite nicely. 161 is actually pretty average, since there are 342 Division 1 teams. It's right in the middle. We would play Pitt at home, too, if their coaches weren't scared shitless to play us in our own gym. Same with WVU, and same with Cinci.1st to answer your questions about Wright...he has had an injured an ankle for some time. He did not play last Sat. in a 91-74 win over Loyola (MD). He then only played 14 min. against Pitt where he was a game time decision. Gregory said after the game that he was close to 100% but was just rusty because of not practicing for the last 2 weeks. I think you'll see him play around 20 minutes Wednesday.I didn't mean to take a swipe at your schedule but was upset by the one poster.I have never heard Dayton won't just go play somewhere. Last year they went to N. Carolina. Usually There is always a few marquee non-conference games at the Arena. Obviously other BCS schools seeing Pitt come in and get beat by 25 wont help. We also played a "home" game last year in Cincinnati against Louisville because they refused to come to the Arena. As an outside viewer on the Akron and MAC most people see it as crazy that Akron demands home and away from people like a Pitt or UC or WVU when they average between 2,000 and 3,000 a year. Most people see Miami as the model for gaining national respect for the MAC and their program. The ESPN.com article made Akron seem like they were owed something and most people aren't sure why. I'll be the 1st to say I was glad when I saw that Dayton would return the favor and play at Akron and Toledo next year. I don't want to make an excuse for for a BCS school not coming, but why would they until Akron improves the rest of their schedule. It's a lose lose for them, Akron is 10-2 but has an RPI of 130, if they came and played it wouldn't help them at all. Anyway sorry for the rant. I just want to say Dayton fans are extremely worried about this game after beating Pitt and having the A10 opener with #23/22 Rhode Island coming in the week after.I think you guys have a great team, but are still a relative mystery because of the level of competition so far.Dayton's OOC schedule this year is a little tougher than normal, but it is still loaded with cupcakes coming in for a paycheck. The Flyers ARE afraid to schedule a home and home series with Wright State and I can't blame them given what the Raiders do fairly routinely to good teams who come to the Nutter Center. Regardless, UD regularly draws excellent crowds. I suggest you purchase tickets before you make the trip.
  13. This does not surprise me. When I was talking to Governor Strickland he told me that he instructed Coach to lie to you about our Zip Bball scheduling session, but I never thought he would actually do it.
  14. Wow, you're an expert. This subject is like beating a dead horse. Maybe we should just join the horizon league? I'm putting my trust in coach D, he obviously knows what he's doing. I'd be concerned if we were swamping these "patises" all non-conf season and then going .500 or so in the MAC. But we're NOT. Let the man do his job, he loves this school and the schedule will come around. You cant build a "mid major" power by simply scheduling powerhouses on the road. Each year we've taken a step forward toward that elusive ncaa berth. Could this be the year? Quite possibly. But you know what? If not, I have faith that we'll compete again next year and probably be even better. That's all you can ask for at this point for this program. Constant growth and improvement. Rome wasn't built in a day.GO ZIPS!I think I see where you are coming from now RowdyZip, but a jump to the Horizon League may not be the way to increase our odds of getting to the Big Dance. They have placed multiple teams in the tournament much more frequently than the MAC, but it has always been because a team with a high strength of schedule and RPI failed to win their conference tournament and their tournament winner gets the automatic bid. One advantage of a move to the Horizon League would be that we could drop football which is a huge money drain on our athletic department budget. Another is that the HL is much stronger in men’s soccer compared to the MAC, and comparable in most other sports. I think we should stick with the MAC and schedule better basketball opponents.
  15. Zip37,I called Rick (he says to tell you Hi). Here is the schedule we worked out so far for next year.Keep Temple, Winthrop, Wyoming, and Austin Peaysubstitute the following (all within a bus ride) for patsies played to date this seasonMarshallValparaisoWestern KentuckyButlerOaklandWright Stateand you have a top 100 schedule so far.
  16. As of 12-19-07, Sagarin has the Zip's strength of schedule ranked at 322 of 341 Division I teams. I think this may be a little low (I'm thinking more like 337), but Jeff has been doing his thing for a long time so I'll go with him. I think this pretty much assures the fact that the Zips will not get into the Big Dance unless they win the MAC tourny. What do you think of our scheduling strategy? Can we get any of the local high schools on future schedules (not the better ones of course)?
  17. Because the portion of the construction cost not covered by private donations will be funded with an income bond, GP1 is exactly right - if you define Ohio taxpayers as anyone from any state including Ohio (and whether or not they pay Ohio income taxes) who pays to use the new stadium or view an event there.
  18. With this guys size and the 5'8" monster who has verballed, looks like we must be planning to leave the MAC and get into a midgit league.
  19. Very Interesting.By the way, there is no Catholic Central High School in Dayton.
  20. This kid won't be able to play when the wind is blowing more than 10 mph cause he will blow away. 149 lbs on a 5'8" body!
  21. I believe the F stop is set at about 95% of what it should be and I think the composition lacks motivation.
  22. I've said it before, I'll say it again....here's the thought process of anyone with a brain when faced with this decision: Hawaii, Akron, HAwaii, Akron, HAWaii, Akron, HAWAii, akron, HAWAIi, akron, HAWAII, akron.....hhmmmmmmmmmmm.
  23. The only problem is that when two Big Eleven teams play thay both cant lose.
  24. Baltimore Bobcat wrote:Coach Brookhart needs to chill out about the fair catch hit. It's obvious the OU player never saw the fair catch. He thought he made a good play, which is why he celebrated. You got the 15-yard penalty, what more does he want? I think a 15 yard penalty and forcing the guy to live in Baltimore would be sufficient.
