He is walking towards the press box. I'm seated below him and to his right (although it's difficult to pick me out of the crowd).

T.J. Deshields - walk-on QB
Zipmeister replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Combining this thread with another, I'll bet $1,000 he would be the best guy on the varsity baseball team. -
I'm game. I'll bet 1,000 Yen that Akron scores more points in the first quarter than any other quarter this year. I'll bet 1,000 Sri Lankan rupees that the Zips miss more than one PAT this season.

Every worker on the site was stealing turf. I knew one of the guys who used it to surround the in-ground trampoline in his back yard. He gave me a nice chunk of it which has been a part of my office decor ever since.

$365 for the works, WOW. Odds are you weren't staying at the Cornhusker where a room a will now set you back $500 a night. Regarding the Zips chances in Lincoln..... If Nebraska pulls their starters at the end of the first quarter, I believe Nebraska will not cover the spread. Go Zips.

A wise man once said, "The worst thing about being a DI basketball or football coach is convincing kids who don't belong in college to come to theirs." Oh wait, that was me.

Xeyrius Williams transferring in
Zipmeister replied to Blue & Gold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball Recruiting
It took him a while to really develop his love for these words. The only thing X developed last season were calluses on his butt from sitting on the bench. And he wasn't the only one. For example, the Flyers had a 7 foot freshman center who played a whole 4 minutes for the entire season. I don't care how bad he may have been if I was the coach I could have found at least a half hour of game time for him over the course of 30+ game season in an attempt to build up his confidence a little bit and gain a reasonable knowledge of how he performs under game conditions. They didn't, he's gone. ' -
Sorry, just saw your post. You probably figured out from other threads that I think if he can avoid injury he can be very good for the Zips.

OK, one more time. The worst thing about being a really successful D1 football or basketball coach is convincing guys who don't belong in college to come to yours. -

Don't hold your breath on that possibility. This guy is a good enough athlete that he doesn't really belong in school. Hopefully his back problems will be ancient history in a year and a half. -

A dividend from the Dayton/Akron game (and Dayton's new coach's ability to alienate players) Xeyrius Williams (the man who is only one letter from having every vowel in the alphabet in his name) announced Monday that he will be transferring to Akron. Will have to sit out a year, but this is a really good get for the Zips -

I heard that Tyler is one of triplets, but I don't know if the staff has any interest in his brothers Munster and Havarti. -
Got a postcard in the mail today informing me that I'm part of a class action lawsuit; NCAA Student Athlete Concussion Litigation. Somebody keeps really good records because my final year in varsity sports was 1973, and since then I have moved across the country three times. Anyone else get the card? If they win the lawsuit you may be entitled to, not 1, but 2 medical exams.

I heard he's still at KSU, but they moved his office to a basement storage area and took away his stapler.
-
Really; they have a contract with the next head coach! Not that everything you say is above reproach - SOURCE? What makes Hickson more safe - SOURCE?

As a Nebraska grad I can attest to your complete lack of knowledge regarding Nebraskan's fondness for their former nickname.

There is no chance that UA will get votes for the start of the season, if only because our RBs led the nation in broken bones.

You remind me a little bit of my sister who thinks if a player wants more game time he should sit closer to the coach on the bench. Do you think it's possible he isn't getting minutes because he hasn't impressed during practice? I'm not sure what bag yanking has to do with your point, but if I was on the team I would make an extra effort to protect my bag.

Which one was compelled to mention that he had worked at not one, but two Fortune 500 companies in many of his posts. Hint, it wasn't the one that referred to his wife as the luckiest woman in the world.

I'm rooting for Dave to make a return. Before my hiatus he challenged me to come up with the meaning of a series of numbers which I didn't solve until "the bet" prevented me from responding. Turns out they were all the numbers to the combination locks on his his mail room locker in both Fortune 500 companies where he was employed.

Could have sworn you were all welcoming the Zipmeister back from his multi-year self imposed hiatus from ZipsNation during which time a bet required him to routinely tune in but prohibited him from replying no matter how stupid a comment was made. It was a great lesson in restraint. There were so many really dumb posts that almost made him lose the bet, but the one that came the closest was the post that suggested a good addition to the MAC would be Northern Kentucky. Anyhow, bet won, good to be back. Go Zips.

Is this a quiz to see if anyone remembers our victory over ranked Marshall, or have some of the memory cells in your brain shut down?

Timing may not be everything, but it's important here. Our best chance for a win against the power 5 conference teams you have listed would have been against Illinois or Nebraska during the recently concluded season. Nebraska was a lot like Akron this year; rarely played more than 2 quarters per game and Illinois just sucked. I Can't think of a worse time to play Nebraska than the first game in the Frost era (however, I plan on being there to witness the blowout in person).
