Hey, I don't blame you. If I was a twisting wind fan and had played Nebraska 105 times and managed to win only 17 games, I'd be jealous too.

What do you mean "the players for them now aren't as good as they were before" A. the (new and returning) players aren't as good as those players were in previous years. B. the (new and returning) players aren't as good as the players at Nebraska last year. C. the players they have now aren't as good as the players for Nebraska when they were perennially in the hunt for a national championship. Nebraska fans aren't claiming they are going to have a national powerhouse this year, but like me they are fairly certain Scott Frost is the man to get them to that level sooner rather than later. They sure aren't the same as last years team. Their stable of running backs includes 5 that are really good (basically interchangeable with freshman Maurice Washington perhaps the most talented). They have rebuilt their secondary with juco and grad transfers and another freshman, Cam Taylor, may start at one corner. Question mark at QB; 3 kids who have never thrown a division 1 pass, but all look pretty impressive. My hope is that Coach Frost plays everyone on the 110 man roster against Akron and that the Zips don't suffer any serious injuries. Note to DrZ: look for quick plays and no huddle.

OK, I'm confused. Seems like the 2 transfers who can play this year and the walk-on turned scholarship player should be a part of the 2018 class, but it seems like the rest of them should be in the 2019 class.

I can't recall an Akron recruiting class as well balanced as this one with virtually all positions covered. What's our star count?

Just checked out the home OOC schedule for the upcoming season. Wow, that should pack the fans in: 2 non DI teams, and (based on last seasons ending RPI) 3 DI teams with an RPI north of 300, one just barely under 200, and Marshal. Nobody here should be making fun of OSU who routinely hops a bunch of bunnies in during their OOC schedule because our OOC opponents can match theirs hop for hop. This doesn't look like progress to me.

There was a guy (I think with the first name of Andy) who back in the late 60s briefly served as the men's swimming coach. He may also have been an assistant football coach or athletic director at some point, but I'm not certain about either of those. I believe his office was on the west side of Memorial Hall. Anyone with a clue as to whom I am referring?

Your thinking is only one year too late. This isn't going to be pretty. I just hope we don't suffer injuries that hurt us later in the season.

I highly concur. Reading this thread reminds me of reading college basketball scores on the ESPN crawl. All of a sudden I see a score that makes no sense whatsoever and realize I've just wasted 20 to 25 seconds reading the results of women's basketball games. ESPN should use pink type when reporting any women's scores to prevent such waste, and posts on ZipsNation concerning AU women' basketball would fit nicely in the other sports category.

Decades ago (when I still lived in Akron) I was a regular viewer of the Les Levine Show. Most callers would offer something like, "Great show Les," to which Les would ask "tonight?" And the caller would respond with, "No Les, every night." I called in and said, "Great show Les," and Les asked "tonight?, to which I responded, "well no, but usually." I'm with you guys. The Akron/ISU game holds way more interest for me than the national championship game. I still can't believe the major networks don't get into a bidding war to televise the Zips/Twisty Winders contest, while wasting all kinds of resources on the national title game.
