  1. Your favorite and mine are identical except for the color of the hat. Both hats, however, have that awful old fashioned Z on them. But I digress. Let's review; that uni was worn in wins over Utah State and Pitt. Maybe we should keep that in mind for big games where we believe superstition may enable us to pull out a win over a favored opponent.
  2. To help pass the time during this slow period, tell the Nation your favorite nontraditional Zips uniform. Mine was worn the day the Zips hammered Pitt. All white unis with blue trim and chrome hats
  3. There are eight true freshmen listed on the roster at this time. Made me look up where on Earth Corona Del Sol is located.
  4. Food for thought............................. Athlon Sports predicts the Owls will finish in 8th place in the newly expanded 14 team AAC The Owls won only three games in coach Stan Drayton's debut, but there were signs of progress by the end of November. Led by the rise of quarterback E.J. Warner in his first year on campus, Temple defeated USF 54-28 in early November and later lost to Houston and East Carolina by one score. With a full offseason to work as the starter, look for Warner to emerge as one of the top quarterbacks in the AAC, especially with a loaded receiving corps that features Amad Anderson and tight ends David Martin-Robinson and Jordan Smith. The defense allowed too many points in league play (36.4 in the AAC) and struggled versus the run (192.6 yards a game). With seven starters back, this unit should take a step forward on the stat sheet. However, standout edge rusher Layton Jordan (18.5 TFL in '22) transferred to Wisconsin. Athlon has not published an Akron game score prediction. College Football Network predicts the Owls finish 6-6 overall , 9th in the AAC, and a 30-19 winner over Akron. The Akron Zips bring a unique brand of football to town against Temple. DJ Irons at quarterback and the talented offense from head coach Joe Moorhead will certainly present issues for Temple’s defense. However, Akron’s biggest discrepancy will be depth in the secondary and Warner and Co. should be able to fly high over the Zips. 247 Sports predicts the Temple Owls finish 11th in the AAC behind both the Rice Owls and the Florida Atlantic Owls. Key Returners: QB E.J. Warner, RB Edward Saydee, WR Jose Barbon, WR Amad Anderson Jr., LB Yvandy Ridby. Key Losses: LB Darian Varner, LB Kobe Wilson The second 3-9 season in a row for the Owls of Philadelphia hurts even more as Temple completes another losing season with very little to show for, though there was some progress at times under first-year coach Stan Drayton. Temple competed in four separate one-score games, all of which they lost, and played competitively in very few of the rest of the games their season had to hold. Three thousand-yard passer, QB E.J. Warner, will return to Temple next season, but the Owls lost a whopping 15 players to the transfer portal. My first take is that Temple has had no consistent culture since arguably the Matt Rhule era of the early 2010s. Establishing a good culture can do amazing things for not only a team, but now with NIL and the transfer portal, that sometimes is the most important thing a team needs. Lots of solid defensive talent will leave Temple, including defensive end Darian Varner, who recorded 35 total tackles and nearly double-digit sacks. He’s since transferred to a Luke Fickell-run Wisconsin Badgers team. I see Temple taking a few more years to establish any sort of fandom back in Lincoln Financial Field and hope they don’t finish bottom of the new conference once more with potentially another head coach in the hot seat.
  5. If the over/under is really 5.5, bet the farm on over. I firmly believe both teams are capable of scoring at least a field goal in this game.🙄
  6. I'll have whatever Catdaddyp is drinking. In fact, make it a double.
  7. The updated version of Our Lads is much improved. How do they come up with their depth charts? From the school's coaching staff or somewhere else? I note that Our Lads has Murphy as a third string DL. I think, based on Murphy's recent Twitter photo, that he may be underrated. That is one imposing, scary-looking dude.
  8. I don't think that was all your fault. The poster did not properly disclose its self identify (he, her, bi, nonbinary, Shetland pony, other, etc.).
  9. , Not terrible news. The Zips already have enough short receivers.
  10. As closely following the recruiting efforts of the new staff as I can from a distance, it seems like their efforts dwarf the efforts of previous staffs. Because I think budgets are still pretty tight at the U, I got to wondering how the current staff is funding their recruiting efforts. Then it occurred to me that the current Zip's coaching staff seems kind of small compared to other schools with which I am familiar. I'm thinking it's possible that Joe has intentionally directed a larger share of his budget towards recruiting than normal. Here is what a quick survey of MAC teams staffs look like (just body count - no salaries). What do you think?
  11. Holy crap. Somebody tell whoever put this piece together to sit down and relax cause whoever did this must be exhausted from the obviously Herculean effort they invested in it.
  12. I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry. I'll bet you a dollar WVU will be looking for someone with a successful track record in P5/P6 basketball.
  13. Fortunately, in this case between the CFL and 5 minor league "pro" football leagues he has many opportunities to continue playing a game he loves (and even if he does occasionally ride a bike it's to stay loose on the sidelines).
  14. It was either overoptimism on the part of Zip fans or the NCAA's penchant for awarding 7 years of playing time to other applicants. I can't count the number of times I have seen a player listed as a 3rd year senior.
  15. Double damn. He was only one year away from tenure as a faculty member.
  16. Nobody is going to accuse the Columbian Tornadoes of being a D1 football mill so I imagine Brayden getting a D! offer was pretty big news in Tiffin including all 37 members of the Tornadoes football team. Probably the biggest news since another Roggow (Bryce) intercepted a pass with time running out to preserve a win against Bishop Waterson.
  17. Out of EKU via Last Chance U with 1 year to play. I see he was Last Chance's 7th best DL in terms of tackles last season. What made him so attractive in your opinion?
  18. So many reasons; here are just a few...... 1) increase contact with high-powered academic schools like Oklahoma State, 2) help build up frequent flyer points. 3) use conference affiliation to score some cheap tickets to the annual Oklahoma/Nebraska showdown.
  19. OMG, now I'm worried about how many guys 247 left off every other MAC team.
  20. Reading your update one would be tempted to predict, at least, a Zip appearance in the MACC. I agree with you that this is a slow news period for Zip football fans. That's one reason I visited 247 where I observed that they have this year's Zip recruits ranked just ahead of both BGSU and Kent. Kind of sobering.
  21. Two things.......... Is this really the same kid? If Phaizon is really 6'4", the young lady conducting the interview is 6'6" minimum. Maybe we should check to determine if she has any basketball eligibility left.
  22. I think it could actually mean any one, or more, of a boatload of things. e.g., he grabbed at the offer, then looked at the Zip's record in recent years, then (not intended to slam chickens) he chickened out. OR he could have grabbed at the offer, then looked at the other OLs the zips have recently signed, and then he chickened out.
  23. Thanks to Josh for not wasting anymore of the Zips time. Nothing more to see here. Keep moving on.
  24. I don't know about the status of Dakota; I just used what was in the table on the first page to create my file. Re Cooper's previous school, it is actually in my file, but for some unknown reason "of Illinois" was blocked, but it can be retrieved if one copies my file into their own version of Excel. I certainly have nothing against the U of Ill, but I've heard a rumor that Excel is biased against certain schools with dubious academic reputations.
