Increasing JAR Attendance/Engaging the Fans
Zipmeister replied to clarkwgriswold's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Take a look at the crowd shots at the KSU/Akron game and see if you notice what I did. I thought it was possible that the joint was filled with extras from Deliverance. The only thing that seemed to be missing was a kid playing a banjo. -
Recruiting: Offense & Defense
Zipmeister replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Now I'm confused. I don't see in this thread where you wrote that Zayden was redshirted or has plenty of talent. And how did you figure 28 might be referring to Zayden? I must be missing something. Are you two communicating via mental telepathy or what? -
Fixed it for you.

At your request - Southland: At this point in the season only 2 of the 10 teams in the Southland are above 500 overall. Neither one of these 2 has an in-conference losing record. As a special bonus just because I like you - Horizon League: At this point in the season 6 of 11 Horizon League teams are above 500 overall. One of them has a losing record in conference. Big Ten: At this point in the season 12 of the 14 Big Ten teams have an overall W/L record above 500. Only 4 of them have an in-conference record above 500.

Wow, a whooping 4 MAC teams with a winning overall W/L record at this point in the season and one of them is among the 7 MAC teams with a losing in conference W/L record.

At the risk of upsetting Zip fans who seem to want to blame the officials for the conduct of the game (especially the 2nd half) I think somebody on KSUs side flipped a switch at half time and they played much more physically in the second half to which neither the Zip's players nor coaches reacted to very well. Still always good to get a W against the Golden Showers.

JD Brookhart to Return as WR Coach?

So did the guy in Key West eat his salad with his hands? -

I think I get the Key West and bending over backwards part of your post, but I don't get the salad eating/wedding reception part at all. Anyway, I still agree with you; class and character are two different things. -

I double checked this issue and once again the husband of the luckiest woman in the world is correct. While both words are nouns, they can be used to describe two distinctly different things. Class: a group of students who are taught together. Character: a person in a novel, play, or movie. -

One takeaway from looking at his film; he has experience playing in front of crowds that rival those that gather to watch most Zips home games. -
Position Preview (and updates) - Quarterback
Zipmeister replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football
Explain what, his vagabond history? My best guess is that he has attached his self-worth to being a D1 starting QB and if that doesn't work out, he moves on. -
My BullShit meter is vibrating. Dayton hasn't had an available seat for the last 2 or 3 years. OSU is asking $19 to $29 to sit in a nose-bleed seat for the upcoming Wisconsin game. And Clark Griswald probably couldn't spread out up there without some nosey usher checking him every 15 minutes to see if he had suffered a stroke.

Position Preview (and updates) - Offensive Line
Zipmeister replied to catdaddyp's topic in Akron Zips Football
Lack of height In OL doesn't bother me. The best interior lineman I ever watched play was Dave Remington (yeah, the one the award is named after). Wearing spikes and a helmet, he very well may have measured in at 6'3" or 6'4". But, standing right next to him in street clothes I looked down at him because he was only about 5'11", maybe 6'0'. Granted, he was more than twice as wide as me. And I seem to recall many football experts claim that the line that gets the lowest is going to control the line of scrimmage, so short is good. -

My first daring prediction of 2024. The only way Finley is still with the Zips at the start of the season is if JoMo does not announce until shortly before game 1 that Wasil (or a new, as yet to be named, stud from the portal) is the game 1 starter. -

Jennings to Weber State -
There may be more, but I only know of one athlete who ever got anything less than an A for one of those 1-hour academic credits. He failed to show up to travel to one away meet and got a C for the quarter. At the time I was enrolled at Akron everyone had to take 2 courses in physical education. Anyone who looked at my academic record might think I was minoring in P.E. because I had a boat load of 1-hour credits (all As).

So Im flippin back and forth between the liberty/oregon game and The lsu/wisc game. Im primarily interested in the former in part Because as one expert on this board pointed out liberty is just packed with racist. So at one point I flip to my back up game where lsu is on the wisc 4 inch line and ready to run a hurryup play, I witnessed one of the smartest/strangest things ive ever seen in a football game. Wisc. Wanted to sub in some bigger linemen but didn’t want to call time out. So one of their linemen stood up and grabbed the lsu center. No call. So then he shook the center, flag, 2 inch penalty and wisc could now make all the substitutions they wanted

you know how guys in the know will refer to all the players on the team for a particular position as the room. take another look at our qb room. wouldn't a better description of this group be a closet in a garage? -

I think he showed folks while he was here that he holds a mean clipboard. Perhaps UMass lost one or more of them to the portal. If so, they could fill a critical hole in their roster if he takes them up on their offer. -
If they want to keep an 8 game conference schedule the following might work. Every year - AKR v KSU, AKR v Buff, and first year AKR v first 2 teams in each of the other 3 pods (second year the 2nd and 3rd team in each of the other 3 pods - third year 1st and 3rd team in each of the other pods. Just thinking about how every other teams schedule would fit into this model makes my head hurt.
-
That's 1 of my 3 predictions.

Especially if you cut the figures out of a box.

So CG thinks tarped off seats look better on TV than empty seats. There must be more money in the football budget than I thought.

On the other hand, we could use some of the beat-down money to boost recruiting. Here's how.... Promise recruits that they will get a bowl game experience every year they play for the Zips. Contract with Hunter Biden to set up a series of shell companies, deposit money in company #1, have company # 20 sign up as a source of Zip NIL funds. Then, each year, have it buy each Zip player a ticket to the bowl game of their choice.
