'Seeing regular “fans” leave early' is appalling. I wholeheartedly agree. But, ask yourself, why? Why would such a dedicated fan who loves this team and these players to the exclusion of any other feel that he had to leave? Have you personally seen enough games this season to see what is going on or tell if there is progression? I have. I've been to every game and cheered and welcomed our players because I'm happily there when they arrive. I have no doubt that the coaches have done and continue to do all they can. I know of the injuries. I see them because I'm there. So, I know what to expect and not expect from some players. But by goodness, THIS IS AKRON! A player doesn't become good just by playing at Akron. He can't just show up and expect to win a National Championship or a MAC Championship. Akron is good because Akron players give completely of themselves and team means more than self. I'd ask these players if they have that attitude. I see it in some, but I'm struggling to see it as a whole. This team has talent, but talent without team attitude = 0-7-0.

Posting facts about past records does not mean someone has given up. It's interesting how you post so little here, but yet you seem to consider yourself such a great fan. Part of being a fan is discussing what's happening, good and bad. Life isn't always rosy.

Yes, I left the stands and walked out of the stadium to relieve tension, but I re-entered on the Union side. I watched the Double OT to the end. If you have a problem with me, then identify yourself to me in a private message and we can discuss. Don't make assumptions about someone giving up without knowing the facts. Even I have a breaking point and watching what was unfolding in front of our goal once again in that match was mine after having attended EVERY game this season.

Glancing through the Zips Men's Soccer Media Guide, the worst starts in Zips Men's Soccer history prior to 2019 were: 0-2: 1955, 1957, 1965, 1969, 1992, 2002, 2017 0-2-1: 2014 0-3-1: 2001

Does anyone know if the NCAA limits the number of players that a D1 Soccer team can play in a year?

I'm with you, fknbuflobo. I love my team and will follow them through adversity and success. I try to do all I can and am allowed to do to support them. I will be in my seat at my usual time looking forward to the true beginning of another great season. Forget what is past. Let's get this rolling this Saturday. Go Zips!

It may be minutia, but I didn’t know that. Thanks.

Our players need to find their “fire” for playing their game at the Akron standard. I think I’ve only seen that this season v Stanford and in the 2nd half at Creighton. I know it’s tough on the road; I’ve been at every game. But now it’s time to defend our field. We cannot allow teams to come into FES-CCF and push us around regardless of anything. No excuses. By the way @fknbuflobo, wanna bet the row of seats behind me that I think belong to FE are empty Saturday? Fickle Akron fans want greatness but often are not willing to provide the needed support through adversity. I know our team hasn’t given up, and I’m confident that our true fans haven’t either. GO ZIPS!!!

I don’t have the answer(s) either, but creativity to open up spaces has seemed non-existent; passing is often errant; and relying on a single forward has been relatively fruitless, especially when frustration sets in. Injuries, short time between games and being on the road all seem to have added to the issues. Hopefully being at home and having 6 days off will help.

I recall a number of years ago watching one of the first Zips Men's Soccer practices of that season from outside the fence at Shrank Field when Caleb Porter was head coach. Caleb became very frustrated that the players were not being serious and couldn't put together even a few good passes. He said something to the effect...You may have played shite soccer all summer, but THIS IS AKRON! That quote comes to mind because what I've seen in these 5 losses, I wouldn't even call shite soccer. Much of it is just shite. I'm calling out all of our players. Get it together and take responsibility. Don't blame this on your fellow teammate. If he isn't doing what you think he should be, let him know. Don't just throw up your hands. Call him out. But, look hard at yourself, too. Every player should be asking himself what can I do better to fix this? It begins with bringing the right attitude to the game from start to finish. -
MANY, MANY, MANY THANKS to the 17 AK Rowdies who traveled to Pitt to support our Zips Men's Soccer team last night. I watched the game in the standing room area behind our Zips across the field from the stands where you sat among most of the fans (Pitt and Akron), and I could hear you loud and often and well above any Pitt fans. Felt like a home game in Akron. You deserve a huge round of applause from ZipsNation. Our team did not deserve you last night, but you were there throughout that entire mess. Thank you, thank you, thank you. So happy to have done my small part in your efforts, taking your group photo which looks great on your twitter feed. I hope you won't lose the heart and Akron Pride that you showed last night. You were the bright spot that made me Akron Proud last night. Please keep coming to soccer matches. Hopefully, something will "click" soon with our players, and they will again become worthy of your support.

Nicolas Alt has not been seen since the 2nd exhibition match, but I think it may be time to give him a try. I've seen every one of these losses in person and do not ever remember watching such uninspired Zips Men's Soccer. Will no one step up to right this ship? The coaches can only do so much. The players have to take the responsibility for fixing this. -

Current. Otherwise, as you noted, we could add Mattocks ?? and Yedlin plus Lewis, Nagbe, Kitchen, and Bunbury who all spent some time with ?? USMNT. (Not counting youth levels) I apologize if I forgot any of our players who have had caps for the USMNT or any other nation’s top level men’s team. -
