  1. that's over 100 penalty yards per game. i feel confident in saying that is definitely false.
  2. Eh the league they were in went 6-3-1 in interleague games vs US NHL Teams that year (or maybe 1979). Whatever you want to call them, they were the best team in the world. The best players, from the best league.
  3. i don't know about this. Chaminade was at least playing college players. The 1980 olympic team was playing a team of professional ALL-STARS. They just beat the NHL All-Stars 6-0 before the olympics. They won gold in 64, 68, 72, 76, 84, 88...9 straight world championships from 63-72. 42 straight wins heading into a game against a group of college kids, who have been playing together for just a few months, compared to 10 years for some of the USSR guys. They even went on a 4 year winning streak after the loss too.
  4. Our players aren't good enough to hang with Toledo for 4 quarters. I think it's more of TB coming out with a decent gameplan, other coaches adjusting, and then taking over our inferior talent. We'll get there.
  5. what the f
  6. I guess, they're 7-76 in the Invitational since that UVA win in 84.

  8. Regardless of the reasons for the move, the BIG is a mediocre conference right now that added 2 bad football programs.
  9. That suspension is just a shame. This team is awesome. Would have loved to see them take on NC State.
  10. I went to the Pitt game in ND two weeks ago. ND fans up there are awesome. They are the ones that actually went to UND or live around South Bend. I'd recommend that road trip to any fan. They were just all awesome and welcoming. I might have heard "welcome to Notre Dame" about 30 times. They genuinely hoped you enjoyed the visit. That said, the subway ND fans that bring their t-shirts out of the attic whenever they get in the top 15 are the worst of the worst. They root for the Celtics, Yankees, Cowboys...Just complete ***holes. For this reason, I root for ND to lose every game they play.
  11. I'd assume it's a timing thing.
  12. Sucks knowing we'd be 3-0 without that dumb suspension, with a shot against Tennessee today. Great performance all around this afternoon. This is going to be a really good team this year. We would have had a great chance to make a statement for an at-large with a couple big Ws in this tournament, but it wasn't meant to be.
  13. Any kid that waits to play until he is in 7th grade makes it more dangerous to everyone else because he most likely didn't learn to tackle right. Double edged sword.
  14. They take injuries into account. Unfortunately, I feel that's mostly big name injuries, as they're probably too lazy to research who/how good Tree and Harney are.
  15. Not to burst anyone's bubble, but we're talking about college soccer. There isn't much money to be made here. I think the decision doesn't go beyond the powers-that-be thinking that our MAC schedule isn't worthy of a top 4 seed. Not that that thought makes sense, as that's calculated into our RPI, but it is what it is. This isn't some conspiracy to keep the Zips down and make boat loads of money off UNC winning a soccer championship in front of 5,000 people and a TV audience of 50,000 more.
  16. So if UNC plays on the road, their fans don't watch?
  17. What motivation does he have for screwing us? Money? We'd probably bring in one of the highest couple attendance figures. Incredibly stupid decision. Inexplicable almost. But the whole "NCAA is out to get us" thought isn't the most sensible.
  18. Chauncey seems like a great kid, and I root for him to do well. It's a shame some people probably think differently because someone is on here on his behalf complaining all the time. This isn't high school basketball anymore, annoying parents/family members sound even worse when it comes to D-1 athletics. KD has taken us to 6 straight conference championships, the guy knows what he's doing.
  19. Yep. Same crap, different year. I'm sure we'll be one of the last two standing in the MAC, come that Saturday night at the Q, but it stinks watching them crap down their legs against inferior teams. The road to an at large was there this year, can't do it losing to coastal carolina.
  20. Whoever screwed this up shouldn't have a job much longer. I think the biggest game of the PR tourney is OK State, because it gives us the opportunity to play NC State. We lose that one, it really hurts our at large chances.
  21. Heaven forbid you treat students well. Not like they're gonna be alumni potentially donating money in a few years right?
  22. Do you see a pattern there? There's only one student section that I would say does a great job. OU. Student sections make a difference. On a score? perhaps. Excitement, atmosphere, and experience for the rest of the fans? Absolutely.
  23. That's a great question
  24. Akron Zips posted the following picture, which in the bottom left corner shows a seating chart and says students will now sit in sections N, O, P and 11. I like the idea of putting everyone together, hopefully they enforce it and make all students sit together. But I don't like moving half the section to the top level. The best way to do it would be courtside like Duke, Pitt, etc...but it looks like the students will have to show up and be loud and hopefully force that change.
  25. We're one weird non-tipped free throw away from being winners of 2 of the last 3 against OU, along with MAC regular season and conference champs. Back to back tourney appearances. OU is very good, we are too. There isn't much separation between them, which makes me wonder where he heard many people believe OU will run the table in the MAC.
