  1. they say Akron is 486-487 all time. will we ever hit .500 again?
  2. 35-13 in the 4th at home...for shame, Temple! Wasn't Toledo terrible just two years ago? I wish we rebuilt like that. Toledo must not be in the Cleveland footprint. Yea..wish we could rebiuld...or build like that. At least we did not choose the Pitt model. I'd take the Pitt model right now! yeah me too. beating the #16 team in the country 44-17 by game 5 of the rebuilding year.
  3. My $.02. The first step in a great student section is getting them there. It has to be the "cool thing" to do. Like it or not. Now that they're there, make cheering the "cool thing" to do. You guys are just getting greedy it'll happen. There were 2800 students, you're doing something right.
  4. I think we're in a good spot when we're complaining about the noise levels of 1800 students at a soccer game. As for the "super rowdies" comments, quit alienating the other fans. That's why no one sits down low at the bball games.
  5. Wow, players have to love that.
  6. PN7 has appeared in all three games this year. Here are his stats. 6 completions on 17 attempts for 43 yards. That's a 35% completion for 2.5 yards per catch. No TDs with 1 interception and 3 sacks. You can add 7 drops that makes him 13 for 17 and the interception was from a hit from behind Why do WR's only drop balls for Nicely?
  7. Why do you say that? What ignorance is showing in this thread? I expected to see OSU/UM. It's billed as "The Game". I expected to see UT/OU. I mean after all, Texas is the 800 pound gorilla in the state with the 2nd largest population. I sure as hell didn't expect to see Oregon/Arizona in there. I knew the SEC was popular, but I thought there would be some other conferences represented. I figured OSU/Wisky would be a potential top tenner. But I guess that shows his little I know about CFB. I am sure you could rattle off the list before you even saw it.Again, I just laugh at these guys because they try so hard and always fail...I find it amusing that anyone can be so butthurt yet keep making themselves look foolish while denying it.This board is for entertainment and these guys provide it with their schtick.this is irony
  8. East Carolina has already applied to the BE, and the BE's top targets right now are the service academies, and then ECU and UCF.I don't think Akron has any chance at the BE, but I do think we make the best case for moving up out of the MAC, save for Temple. Would be cool to maybe be a player in the new CUSA/MWC.
  9. thanks mrs. nicely
  10. same as ND. They'll eventually get what they want.Though I would love to see both left out in the cold.
  11. Mizzou has an offer from the SEC supposedly but is waiting for the Big XII to implode. It's about to get pretty crazy in the next week or so.http://www.kansascity.com/2011/09/20/31553...-offer-but.html
  12. From Brett McMurphy, via Twitter:"Multiple Big East sources said they have been told by WVU officials that WVU rejected by ACC & SEC"but yeah, academics don't matter. As a Pitt fan...this hurts to say...I'd like to see WVU make it somewhere. The Backyard Brawl is huge, and ever since JoePa quit scheduling Pitt, they've been Pitt's #1 rival. This bodes well for the BE, as they were 100% toast w/o WVU. I'm guessing we'll see a conference of WVU, Cinci, Louisville, Memphis, UCF, and the Big 12 leftovers as the 5th "BCS" conference.
  13. This is an interesting thought. I'm just wondering why do you think ND would sooner join the ACC than the Big 10?Longtime rivals in Pitt, & BC, better recruiting base in the ACC, their largest concentration of alumni are on the east coast, so it would be catering to them. Heard some chatter of PSU & ND possibly talking of both coming, although I highly doubt it. PSU is a better geographical fit for the ACC, and JoePa would get the Eastern League he dreamed of.
  14. They won't care when it comes to athletics. Again, NC State, Illinois, Clemson, Iowa, Michigan State, Maryland (WVU and Maryland played yesterday and nobody seemed to care about schooling)...I could go on. I think it would be a shame if WVU was left out of the mega conferences.they won't be left out. they'll join the SEC, whose academic standards aren't very high. in fact, it sounds as if WVU submitted their papers to the SEC today, per sources in Pittsburgh.
  15. GP1, I respect your opinion on this, but I don't think you realize that conferences aren't really just about athletics. WVU has no chance of the Big Ten, and a miniscule chance at the ACC. Those 2 conferences take academics just as seriously as athletics. Academics as a whole institution, not how smart the players are.for instance, the Big Ten isn't going to accept anyone that isn't an AAU member, which WVU is not.
  16. Any enrollment numbers for this year? usually out by now but I couldn't find any.
  17. That was what I thought was pretty much the case too but then again we were the only Division 1 school to offer a scholarship to Brian Wagner, he almost got missed. How many of those are out there at smaller schools like Springfield Catholic Central? How many don't get the recognition they deserve because their own high school coaches are misevaluating for that matter? I don't think his one offer has anything to do with what high school he went to.
  18. A good player will get noticed, it doesn't matter where he comes from. This isn't 1980. The only reason I would care what schools we recruit from would be to create a pipeline of sorts.
  19. This place is 5x better than anything the sizzling zone had to offer.
  20. Mannys opened in april.
  21. Temple played our home opener in 07.
  22. I see your Bucks half is in control today, as a pure Zips fan wouldn't think to post something like that on a Zips forum. I think you missed the rest of the thread. Either that or you are trying to pick a fight. Either way, I'm not biting. or someone's sarcasm detector isn't working.
  23. It is a hell of a feat, i agree. Theyve overcome a lot, but imo, their school size wasnt hampering them. like i said, nova, wake, duke (though they are bigger than i thought) are just fine. all the resources you mentioned have nothing to do with student body size, which is what I was talking about. The high school comparison is apples to oranges. They are split up due to having larger populations to pick from, obviously d-1 teams don't face that.
  24. Man, I've had easier times reading racer's posts.
