  1. This is an interesting thought. I'm just wondering why do you think ND would sooner join the ACC than the Big 10?Longtime rivals in Pitt, & BC, better recruiting base in the ACC, their largest concentration of alumni are on the east coast, so it would be catering to them. Heard some chatter of PSU & ND possibly talking of both coming, although I highly doubt it. PSU is a better geographical fit for the ACC, and JoePa would get the Eastern League he dreamed of.
  2. They won't care when it comes to athletics. Again, NC State, Illinois, Clemson, Iowa, Michigan State, Maryland (WVU and Maryland played yesterday and nobody seemed to care about schooling)...I could go on. I think it would be a shame if WVU was left out of the mega conferences.they won't be left out. they'll join the SEC, whose academic standards aren't very high. in fact, it sounds as if WVU submitted their papers to the SEC today, per sources in Pittsburgh.
  3. GP1, I respect your opinion on this, but I don't think you realize that conferences aren't really just about athletics. WVU has no chance of the Big Ten, and a miniscule chance at the ACC. Those 2 conferences take academics just as seriously as athletics. Academics as a whole institution, not how smart the players are.for instance, the Big Ten isn't going to accept anyone that isn't an AAU member, which WVU is not.
  4. Any enrollment numbers for this year? usually out by now but I couldn't find any.
  5. That was what I thought was pretty much the case too but then again we were the only Division 1 school to offer a scholarship to Brian Wagner, he almost got missed. How many of those are out there at smaller schools like Springfield Catholic Central? How many don't get the recognition they deserve because their own high school coaches are misevaluating for that matter? I don't think his one offer has anything to do with what high school he went to.
  6. A good player will get noticed, it doesn't matter where he comes from. This isn't 1980. The only reason I would care what schools we recruit from would be to create a pipeline of sorts.
  7. This place is 5x better than anything the sizzling zone had to offer.
  8. Mannys opened in april.
  9. Temple played our home opener in 07.
  10. I see your Bucks half is in control today, as a pure Zips fan wouldn't think to post something like that on a Zips forum. I think you missed the rest of the thread. Either that or you are trying to pick a fight. Either way, I'm not biting. or someone's sarcasm detector isn't working.
  11. It is a hell of a feat, i agree. Theyve overcome a lot, but imo, their school size wasnt hampering them. like i said, nova, wake, duke (though they are bigger than i thought) are just fine. all the resources you mentioned have nothing to do with student body size, which is what I was talking about. The high school comparison is apples to oranges. They are split up due to having larger populations to pick from, obviously d-1 teams don't face that.
  12. Man, I've had easier times reading racer's posts.
  13. People need to quit making a big deal of the size of the school. It's ~15 people making a difference. How many students do Duke, Nova, Wake Forest, etc have?
  14. I wasn't around, but is have to say the citadel's win would be up there. go mid majors!
  15. Poor guy picked Butler to come in 3rd in the Horizon, didn't he?
  16. If Bardo is coaching Zeke I won't ever come to another game lol
  17. That video was really cool. Some interviews through the season would be cool.
  18. If I remember correctly, this issue was a sticking point between the city and the university. The city wants to build a 10,000 - 12,000-seat arena whereas the university wants an 8,000-seat arena. Also, the city wants a multi-purpose arena (NBA-style also suitable for hockey, indoor soccer & arena football) whereas the university wants a basketball-specific arena (basketball, volleyball). I'm with the UA on this one. Those NBA-style arenas are, ironically, pretty awful for watching basketball. An 8,000-seat basketball specific arena, where every seat in the house would be a good one, is, IMHO, much preferable. i beg to differ. if we can get hockey in akron, and a new arena, i would be ecstatic. plus, the Q has both, and is a nice setup. Consol Energy Center (new Penguins arena) conforms to basketball, as Pitt/Duquesne have a few games there, and also have NCAA tourney games next year. and imo, Consol and the Q are great venues for either sport. granted these both seat 18,000-20,000, so i can't comment on how a 10,000 seat duel-purpose barn would look like.
  19. Seriously though, if they put in a cool bar/restaurant there, exchange would be pretty sweet. Pat's pub just opened, it's a cool little place. Along with BW3's, Pint's, Thursday's, Manny's should be opening soon...nice little "hub" of activity there on campus to go along with the downtown scene.
  20. Where did it move to if you care to share. I drove past it a week or two ago. A few streets south of exchange...next to 76. Came back after break and the signs on the "old" building are gone along with any activity around it.
  21. We also get valpo at home, no? They improved a lot this year iirc.
  22. Guess no one noticed, but CSL Plasma moved.
  23. Akron downtown IS part of campus. There will be no attendance difference due to the location of campus/city. People are overestimating the size of our city. This isn't Philadelphia.
  24. Exciting. I'm more excited for Akron basketball than I've ever been. Hopefully "Joe Akron" is excited over how good we are going to be
