  1. Which is my whole point= they transfer there b/c they can play right away, not b/c they can't cut it at the "top level". If they could go to a non-BCS school that still is in the FBS, they very well might choose the MAC. Secondly, Bill Stull had a very "Palko" type year last year. And, though Lewis was the key, he was part of a 10-3 team that won a bowl game. I was just using Pitt as an example, many fans didn't like Stull, or Sunseri now. But my point is, I believe these guys would just find another BCS team with a starting job open to transfer to.
  2. UCF is an ideal type of team to add, imo.
  3. But instead of transferring to Delaware to start, Devlin could have just went to Pitt, who has lacked a decent starter since Tyler Palko left. These guys wouldn't come to Akron, Can't, MAC level schools. They only transfer down so they don't lose a year of PT. Don't mistake them for 1-AA talent.
  4. By that time we will probably be looking for a new AD as they roll over every 3 years. The whole athletic dept will change and we will be in transition for the next 6 months. This is why the AD should not be allowed to schedule more than two years out...2013 and beyond should be off limits for TW as far as scheduling goes... Have fun recruiting kids when you can't tell them where you'll be playing.
  5. I think you're wrong there. I bet 95% of us would still say going for it was right in that situation because it was....period. You can analyze it for the rest of the season but almost anyone on here is going to disagree with what Coach I did. I think you take the points at the 23. If we were at the 35, go for it. I think most other coaches would do the same. Too early in the game to leave points on the field. The Akron kicking game is not reliable despite the first field goal. Same kickers as last year. What, to that point in the game, would make Ianello think he could go another 23 yards and get a TD? Odds were, we would be kicking again in the next 4 plays, even if we got it.

  7. This early? This is the same product we have had the past several years. Only with a higher price tag. I'm a life long Indians fan too, but I'm not about to throw down over $100 to take the family to see that mess. They don't want to see that anyhow. Call me whatever you want. I don't think it's worth it. Would you be saying this if they won yesterday?
  8. Didn't expect to see so many fair-weather fans abandoning ship this early. Usually it takes a few games.
  9. they had 200 yards rushing.
  10. I think this is the biggest issue moving forward. I am shocked at the lack of a "buzz" (including marketing!) throughout the week for a game against a Big East team. This game would have EASILY been higher at the Rubber Bowl. The only conclusion that I can draw is the price of admission is too high for the product that is being placed on the field. I am not ready to jump off the Y Bridge after one game, but the lack of fans at the game is troublesome. I didn't renew after last season, and looking at the attendance numbers, I wasn't alone. Too many people worry about the crowd. With as bad as this team has been, how can you expect fans to show? Win some games, and they'll be there. Obama couldn't convince 25k to come watch this mess.
  11. people worry more about the crowd than the actual game. win some damn games, and there will be fans.
  12. Wow, if we could go bowling by winning 7 out of all those games...just count me in.
  13. It's funny you mention this as I was wondering myself. Steiner is listed at 205 lbs. Isn't he going to get absolutely obliterated along the O-line? If I were an opposing coach, at the Zips' first punt or FG attempt, I'd put my biggest, nastiest DT right over Steiner and simply tell him to knock the snot out of him. you can't. that's why long snappers usually aren't the biggest fellas.
  14. I think it's all about the new freshman each year, when it comes to advertising to students. The rest know what they're getting into. From the new kids I have talked to, they all seem pretty pumped for D-1 college football on campus, at least for the first game. Hopefully the Akron attitude doesn't spread to them too quickly.
  15. To answer your question...of course. Who wouldn't want to emulate a top 5 program? Now as to executing it, good luck.
  16. I have a feeling it looks kinda like the one the players wear.
  17. People are blowing this under the center thing wayyy out of proportion. If I could take snaps without fumbling them in pee-wee football (RE: 7-10 years old), Nicely will pick it up, I am sure of it.
  18. Here in the Carolinas, we know tourists by the way they tuck their golf shirts into their jorts. Here in Ohio we know people are from the Carolinas if they wear jorts. fixed it for you.
  19. dude. he hasn't even coached a game yet.
  20. I wasn't aware our colors were the same?
  21. Rumor is that memphis and ucf may be joining the BE. Maybe CUSA could be looking for a few new teams?
  22. This reminds me of the Pens playing in good old Mellon Arena. Sure the hallways were built for 8,000 people, and restroom waits are 25 minutes. And there are about 15 concession stands in the whole place. But they win, so who cares? I'd watch the Zips play on a cow pasture if they were winning.
  23. Have you seen our facilities? That is the answer. http://www.ballparkreviews.com/srock/srock.htm That's a D-2 stadium I played at in HS. We have a decent high school field. It's terrible. There was more seating at every high school I played at. If you build it, They will come.
  24. The doors really aren't locked, it's said that for a week but they dont actually lock the doors. Btw, a few hours ago I was playing a few pickup games in Memorial and Quincy Diggs came in and shot around for a while. Looks like he has a nice shot and a decent wingspan for his size. He was a little shy but very friendly as well. I know a few other ZN.o members were there playing and say him there too. Yep, I saw him there too. He said it's cold up here(wait til winter). A pick-up player told him he should go to Akron when he was shooting around at a different hoop(Diggs was wearing a Wichita State shirt), and Diggs says he does and he transferred. He's got a big wingspan like RootforRoo44 said, and he looks like he's a better shooter than Hitchens, maybe even better than Brett McKNight or even Steve McNees. +1 I haven't seen him shoot...but I mean any D-1 player is gonna knock down his shots with no one on him haha. We'll see how he fares against, you know, defenders. Hopefully he can step in and contribute at that 3 spot.
  25. I don't feel like anything "happened," just too many players, and not enough minutes. There were going to be a few players bound to be unhappy sooner or later. I'll cal this the weeding out process. We have the guys that want to be here and buy into KD's system now.
