  1. Congrats on a fine season guys, keep your heads up. I know GoZips is going to come on here and call you out, but you left it all on the floor last night. I didn't see on once of quit from anyone on the floor last night. It stinks we lost, but I feel a lot better seeing everyone give it all they have. Chris and Jimmy, you guys have done nothing but win these past four years. What senior class can say they've been to a conference championship all four years? We've all been lucky to watch this team the past few years, I'm glad I chose akron, or I never would have gotten to see you. Wherever Chris and Jimmy end up, we can all agree they will be winners; successful. I couldn't be any more proud of this group of guys. Do we really have to wait 8 months until next season? I can't wait to see McNees' senior year, I think he found another level this weekend, along with Zeke. These boys will be hungry next year.Go Zips!
  2. Forbes rated pittsburgh in the top 10 skylines in the world last year. It doesnnt take much work to make the burgh look good ...it's nothing specialNothing can beat the view of Cleveland's skyline from Cleveland Browns StadiumCleveland has a skyline? lol I don't mean to get in a pissing contest over skylines, but give a little respect.
  3. Oh boy.

  5. people said we don't have a leader this year? I never really made much of it, but I think he does a good job of it.
  6. A win is a win is a win. Would we have gotten a bye to the tournament if we won by 20 tonight? a little adversity never hurt anyone.
  7. Wasn't talking about last year. No need to be an idiot.idiot? I tried answering your question, sorry tommy tough nuts.
  8. We didn't get a bye last year (RE: one entire more game) aand we won the whole thing. moving on...
  9. Of course Zips fans are glad K.e.n.t was upset, how else do you think Akron is going to win the tournament? You won it last year and you'll probably win it this year but you'll never get it going through us.I was in that section talking all that trash, I'd probably do it again. We'll enjoy the NIT...just remember, only one of us knows for certain our team is going to a post season bracket at this point. Let's Go F.lashes, 2-0 this season and regular season never get it going through you guys? Maybe if you would hold up your end of the bargain instead of choking when it matters, we would see
  10. All three of our recruits are still playing, correct? recruiting some winners, I like it.
  11. Prepare like Herb Brooks prepared for the soviets.Play 6 months of games overseas? we only have 5 days!
  12. There are plenty more without Rowdies shirts each game at our games, that doesn't prove anything.Fact is, who knows if you're really telling the truth but im guessing if you are you probably complained at Pitt as well. Just stop being such a negative nancy, wear your shirt, and have fun. Being a big downer like your being only causes more problems, so if you dont want to be in the Rowdies and dont want to sit down low than fine, it's your choice.Fact is, I'm not complaining. Fact is, I sit down there every game when my friends don't go with me (none of them want to sit there anymore). Fact is, I'll be sitting down there tonight. I'm not being a downer, I just want to see more students at the games, and I want to see the bottom sections full. I'm trying to give some suggestions. You're pretty much saying it's my way or the highway, and fact is, apparently more students want to take the highway.also, if you would read my posts, I'm cool with the way it is now, it isn't stopping me from ever attending games. It's stopping the other, not so "rowdie" students. hopefully something can be done to get them into the Zips! Go Zips!
  13. That's because you don't have to wear them. You'll also notice how some of them are wearing previous year's zoo shirts too.
  14. I think it's safe to say, a win tonight gets this Joe Akron guy we hear about interested in Zips basketball again. don't mess it up.
  15. I honestly dont think you read entire posts by people. He said they wear the shirt to get in those seats and YES the Oakland Zoo at Pitt does require you to have the shirt. I have been there myself multiple times. Down at Florida State they required students to wear the shirt to stand in the courtside bleachers that run 3-4 deep along the length of the floor, i have family that live there and family that go there and have been to multiple games and stood in that spot (my cousin lent me a shirt). Many if not most schools that have a special seating area for student groups require the shirt to be worn...that is a fact.haha okay man, I guess the semester I spent at pitt I was imagining not wearing my zoo shirt every game. And yes, florida state is most definitely known for their wild and packed student section. Silly me. If you're happy with our half full student section, and half full is terrible for only 176 seats, then more power to you.
  16. I'm just giving some suggestions since some powers that be post here, don't take it the wrong way. We can all agree the student section isn't what we want it to be.
  17. I disagree, most schools don't mandate the same shirt. Ohio does, and guess what? People are complaining about its attendance being down. Check out the zoo in pitt. They all wear the same shirt because its the cool thing to do, they don't have to wear it. Penn state doesn't mandate the fans wear white to every football game. Do the cameron crazies have to wear the same shirt? Why is our student section more exclusive than theirs? When we fill it up every game then make everyone wear pink shirts with bow ties for all I care.
  18. Yeah right, 400 students. The ones that sit down low aren't just going to the game to sit on their hands. They actually are being loud and a real student section. The rules are the rules, if you dont want to bring a blue shirt then sit up top. You're not getting what I'm saying. I'm sitting down low, but unfortunately there aren't enough people willing to put up with those "rules" to ever fill the bottom sections.P.s. that attitude is a pretty big reason no one wants to sit with you guys. I'm just giving some suggestions.Go zips!
  19. I have one. you don't get it, do you really think anyone wants to bring an extra shirt to sit down there. It'll work for this game, but this is why 30 people sit there every game. One game, they gave me a hard time sitting down there because I had the shirt from two years ago on. I almost couldn't sit down there until I convinced them that there would be 12 people down there anyway. Why make more "barriers to entry" when our support sucks as it is. Make it easy for students to get in and get excited, not a hassle. Honestly, there are at least 400 students at every game, scattered about, but only about 65 students sit down low, draw your own conclusions from that.
  20. The wristband nazi's are at it again. Just got a facebook message that I have to wear THIS YEAR's rowdie shirt (blue) to sit down low, for the white-out. Little things like this is what make us second class.
  21. Yeah, got my sides mixed up haha
  22. I've said it before, I think there should be enforced student seating in the general admission areas behind the baskets (or an even better section would be great). I used to be one of those students who was scattered throughout the JAR. Should it have stopped me from cheering..no..but it did. I think the rowdies just need to hook fellow students, whether rowdies or not and get them involved in the game. If they all sit together they'll realize how its done...it's ok to be an Akron fan! I don't think some student are quite there yet. ...or just build a grass berm for everyone, that works tooopen up two of the reserved sections, hell they never fill anyway. make it students only/no students anywhere else, and they'd be full. it would get loud, exciting, a fun place to watch a game.
  23. yeah but when one "clique" takes up half of the student section, it's a little different. don't kill the messenger! ;)also, look at football soccer games, all the students are in the student section.
  24. Don't kill me, this is just my honest opinion. Like other posters have pointed out, the Rowdies have turned into a semi-sorta clique. There's like the 15 or 20 "regulars" that sit on the North side at the JAR and attend everything. Which is a great thing, but people don't want to be associated with them. Some think they get too "rowdy" some think they're too cool for the Rowdies. I'm not saying get rid of the Rowdies, but let all the students sit down there! when it gets full every game, instead of 3 games a year, then get exclusive. I used to sit down there every game, but none of my friends want to anymore, so I don't. There are hundreds, thousands? of kids like me that go to the games, but don't sit with the Rowdies. Make it a student section, not a Rowdie section. Make it the cool thing to do. It would be tough, but it would work really well if we could get all the students to sit in one section. Open a few reserved sections up? Make one GA above the basket students only? Just some suggestions, but we have one of the worst setups for student seating in the country.
