  1. All the speculation goes back to that one guy's tweet and article. Reporters who don't want to give credit to someone else just call it "sources".
  2. http://akron.socialfanrewards.com/ I have mixed feelings about this, but I understand the idea behind it. I think it could be successful if a lot of people sign up.
  3. Jake Anderson was cut by the Browns today.

  5. There's no official list as of now. Here is the Scout list. They're missing one player.
  6. UCF, Akron game a personal showdown for Fleming family
  7. Zips offer longsnapper from SoCal.
  8. Ready. Let's get this show on the road.

  10. At least you're honest. And don't worry about not knowing how Akron will fare against the rest of the MAC. If there's one thing MAC media days have told me, it's that absolutely nobody can predict how the conference teams stack up against each other in a given year. This is not the Big Ten where you can pretty accurately guess who the top three teams are going to be (though if you asked me who I thought the MAC's top three will be, I would tell you NIU, Toledo, and Ohio in that order with NIU ranked in the top 25 by the end of the season).
  11. I think a lot of posters here would be surprised at how many players from NE Ohio we have offered.
  12. Found two mentions of Ericksen signing with Akron. http://fridaynightohio.com/news/carrollton...-about-warriors http://www.tnl-news.com/local%20sports/201...d-10-on-defense
  13. I was going to just say that the Zips will cover in a close game, but now I'm confident that UCF will choke badly. Why is this? They started a look-a-like thread. That means that Akron has it in the bag.
  14. That whole program seems to be in it pretty deep. A good thing Walsh left when he did.
  15. Perhaps we can have Zippy practice riding a segway, so she doesn't get decapitated this time.
  16. UCF only scored more than 31 points once last year. At home against a Memphis team that was so bad that even Akron would have stood a good chance of beating them last year. I do not see them putting up 36 points on the road. They went 0-6 on the road last season, even losing to UAB.
  17. After further checking the depth charts... The Offense has 6 new starters and 7 returning starters (although Adam Bice is at a different position). The Defense has 6 returning starters and 5 new. I count a returning starter as having started at least one game last season. Overall, a good mix of old and new guys. I always got the feeling that the talent was mismanaged the last two years. There was enough talent to compete for the MAC East, but they were never utilized properly.
  18. I hope that Alex and Melo's parents have been on the phones, calling up every relative and friend in the greater San Juan area and telling them to support us. Family ties can be pretty strong in Puerto Rico.
  19. Looks good to me. Glad we won't have to wait too long to know about the NCAA's decision, either. If Trey Zeigler can get a waiver to play immediately at Pitt because his dad got fired, I can't imagine the NCAA denying Pat the opportunity to play this year.
  20. Thanks for answering those questions. I'm not too surprised about Turner playing on the scout team for now. I think he'll show up on special teams like Rossi. We can't redshirt him, so letting him sit is a waste and special teams seems like the perfect way to acclimate him to playing football again.
  21. Like I said, I'm skeptical. But even if it did sell out today, you wouldn't normally see an announcement on a Sunday afternoon. There could also be other interpretations. Maybe a certain subset of tickets has been used up, like the family section or the visitor's section.
  22. I've heard some rumblings that tickets for the season opener have already sold out, nearly two weeks in advance. I find this very hard to believe, but that might just be my Ianello-bred pessimism speaking. We do have a beautiful stadium, recognizable coaches, and are playing on college football's opening day. Maybe it really is possible. Or maybe I'm just hearing bad information.
  23. Have not seen nor heard anything about this.
  24. Those two phrases seemingly constitute 70% of Joe Dunn's broadcasting lexicon.
