The answer to that is basketball. Getting a second bid (or winning a game or two) increases the NCAA payout enough to offset the revenue split. NDSU is a decent mid-major, but not enough to get the MAC a second bid.
I know people here used to rag on Akron for reusing that one "energy orb" commercial with Dr Proenza every year, but at least we never put out something like this.
The Akron Marathon is happening on Saturday morning. Don't know how it will affect attendance, but downtown will definitely be more congested and traffic will be bad.

Their commitments were self-reported on Twitter, but there hasn't been a peep since then. I'd put them as questionable until something more substantial comes along.
The difference is that they didn't give up after going down 21-7 and everything was going wrong with all the dumb penalties and unfocused plays. Instead, they stormed back and took control in all phases of the game. This is a team that knows they can beat you.
There are exactly zero sporting events being held on campus this weekend. Football, Men's and Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, and Tennis are all playing elsewhere.
