  1. Why would Harrison take a shot at Cribbs? Weren't they friends in college? Didn't they have the same dealer?
  2. McCoy was thrown into an impossible situation and held his own. Unfortunately, the Browns won't be able to get any talent around him until the next draft. Right now their biggest concern is at corner and any move made will be to address that, which doesn't exactly help the QB.
  3. If I was coach, I would just go out and offer every five-star prospect in the country. Promise them they will start immediately. Tell them they have a chance to put up numbers unheard of in the NCAA, numbers that will help the stand out on draft day.
  4. Nicely should have been redshirted this season, anyway. I expressed as much before the season. I also said we wouldn't win a game because of our coaching, even against Gardner Webb, and nobody believed me.
  5. Zips offer PG Willie Moore.
  6. Now that is an interesting comparison, considering we've both just recently made considerable investments in new stadiums. I wish our athletics department was as flush is cash as I'm assuming Minnesota's is. What's interesting is that the buyout is much less than what he would actually be paid if he was kept on for the full extent of the contract. I wonder what Ianello's buyout clause looks like. I know his salary is $350k per year and his assistant salary pool is $800k. We could save a significant amount of money by firing him and starting over, if it becomes evident that he won't turn things around. He deserves two more years. Midway through the third season, an evaluation needs to be made and we should be fully prepared to start over. Waiting five years is far too long.
  7. Minnesota just fired Tim Brewster mid-season. And he even won a game this season. He had three and a half years left on his contract and the buyout cost $600,000. If we go 0-12, we must follow suit.
  8. Penn State ties at Northwestern 1-1. Michigan State beat Wisconsin 3-0.
  9. I'd like to see where these four teams finish if they were in BCS conferences week in and week out. BYU is already a bad team. You'll get part of your wish next year when Utah joins the PAC-10.
  10. Andre Jones and Dennis Kennedy both sign with the Tri-City Fever of the IFL.
  11. Is it basketball season yet?
  12. I was glad to see the Zips get back to playing the style we are used to seeing. The past couple of games, the Zips players held on to the ball too long which gave the other teams chances to disrupt the play and regain posession. But last night the Zips were constantly passing to the open man, just shredding Buffalo's defense. We should do the same thing to Michigan on Tuesday.
  13. The players have quit. It was the Wagon Wheel or bust in their minds, and they are busted. The coaches are too stubborn to realize it and throw in all the freshmen to get them ready for next year, though. Burn every redshirt we have unless absolutely necessary. Bench all juniors and seniors. We're toast anyway, what does it matter is we lose by a few more touchdowns when we have zero chance of winning anyway?
  14. Without looking I'm pretty sure we beat KSPU at the hippie campus TWO years ago. Wasn't that the same year we won AT Army and Syracuse (Kenny rant)? Zips Win, if we win today, we may start kidnapping you on game day. You're right. Two years ago. This season feels like an eternity. Also, LaFrance is out indefinitely due to a PCL sprain.
  15. It's been about three years since we've won a road game.
  16. My prediction of this thread's future comments: Blame the iCoach! Blame the iCoach! Blame the iCoach!
  17. CB Michael Bonner verbals to Buffalo.
  18. Here's an article from the ABJ on the eve of practice. I liked this quote: "We need to make certain guys better winners,'' Dambrot said. ''We have to teach them how to be competitive and win big games. That's part of growing as a player." If Dambrot has figured out a formula to transform underachieving players into "better winners", he should become the AD and start teaching it to all his coaches starting with football. Winners win and losers lose. Transforming a loser into a winner is a tricky process with with lots of subtlety involving the balance between attitude, work ethic, skill, and determination.
  19. So when I tell you that the Zips team shop and book stores are having a sale of 25% off all Adidas Zips gear, you'll stop by campus and load up on merchandise? Because they really are having that sale right now. I picked up some stuff before heading to Penn State yesterday.

  21. That is huge. I kept hearing how great they were supposed to become once Kellogg became eligible.
  22. I just got back from State College. The PSU goal was offsides by a good three yards. Probably more. I was right there, it happened right in front of me. Everybody but the attacker had stopped for a second because they were anticipating the obvious call, but it was never made and they took advantage of that moment. Yes, our jerseys were stolen. So were some Zips scarfs that were swiped directly from the Zips fans and parents. The officiating was wildly inconsistent at best. I'll just leave it at that. Big Ten officiating needs to get a serious look by the NCAA. Their whole stadium smelled of horse crap and burnt mushrooms. At the end, doing "I believe" with our players and their parents made it all worth it. Especially after listening to the PSU version of it (I believe that Akron sucks) for about three hours including pre-game and half-time and every point during the game.
  23. Is anybody making the trip?
  24. What happened to Hartwick? They tied the Zips a couple years ago in a very competitive match. Their coach left them for Syracuse and $$$. And he took all the top Hartwick players with him. There's really nothing left of the team that challenged the Zips the past few years.
  25. Most of the seniors are playing a huge leadership role. They are the ones working the hardest. I understand that the sophomores and juniors are the ones with an attitude problem. If leaders don't step up in those classes and get the rest in line, you'll see even worse football next season.
