  1. Yeah, they're selling half-season tickets right now. single-game tickets aren't on sale yet, probably because the ticket office is still being built.
  2. Woah. I'm sorry. My count was waaaay off. The dividing line that should be at #40 is rendering at #20 thanks to my crappy browser. So take 20 from my count. I was counting there starting at 40, but that's obviously wrong.Anyway, South Florida is the goal for now.
  3. Well now that NC State is on top, I hope he turns off the spam bot and then gets IP banned or arrested for an attempted DoS attack on the go.com domain. In other news, we just jumped Indiana. Next stop, the top 80. We're currently at 88. Jumping South Florida puts us in the 70s. That's the next goal.
  4. Just keep voting. Position counts more than percentage, anyway. I think once they see NC State at the top of the standings they'll know something's up.
  5. It is NC State.Anybody able to write a script to compete?
  6. We're dropping! We just went from 6.4% to 6.2% in a matter of seconds :blink:And now 6.1% a few seconds later! Somebody ahead of us turned on a vote bot.Now 5.8%! The votes jumped up 30,000 in a few minutes. See who's making a meteoric rise.
  7. The game itself will be a yawner, but the atmosphere surrounding the game should be one of the best of the season in the MAC.
  8. UConn down. ECU is up next. They're the last team from the C-USA that's ahead of Akron. Knock them off and Akron is tops in the Sun Belt, C-USA, and MAC.
  9. Iowa State down! UConn is next. Overtaking BCS teams is very satisfying.Yeah, the immediate goal should be to pass Indiana and Syracuse. Then we'll be ahead of every team on the schedule not named Penn State.I would like to see Akron in the top 60, for now let's chase down Indiana.
  10. Southern Miss down! Iowa State is up next.
  11. I don't know if it works for sure, but now we're up to 4.4% and just jumped Baylor and Colorado State. Southern Miss is next.Edit: I don't think it actually works. I'll go back to clearing the cache every time.mathematically, in order for the Zips to advance and move up the ladder, Akron votes will have to account for more than the current percentage of votes (right now 4.4%) per voting cycle. So say each time you vote there are 30 more votes, you're accounting for 3.33% of the votes. If there are even two Akron voters in that time period then Akron will advance, albeit slowly. Get 5 or 10 of us and Akron should be up pretty high by tonight.I wish I could just write a script to vote for me, like I'm sure some of the bigger names are doing.
  12. I'm using a crappy IE6 browser here at work, but I discovered this trick where if you simply hit F5 after voting right after clearing your cache, it comes up with an option to resend the information when you refresh. I think this means that it votes every time I refresh. so all I have to do is keep pounding the F5 key and accepting the message.1 vote every 2-3 seconds. If you can figure out to get the same on other browsers, it really cuts down on the time.
  13. I think we can break 10,000. I'm bored at work, too, so I'll be working on this. It's so slow here that I might get 1000 in by myself. Let's at least seperate ourselves from the MAC.
  14. That stupid poll's just a popularity contest. ESPN's probably doing it to see what games they should give priority on their network in the future. there's no way that the Big Ten should have three of the top 4 spots.
  15. It's not quite finished. Only the center part of the LED ribbonboard is installed.
  16. Our tour guide told us it would be General Admission and Students....I must have had a different guide than you, then. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  17. Our top rusher last year was a backup to the guy we have starting this year.
  18. What is the point of the BCS? None of the BCS teams play for a national championship game, either. They just play for a self-appointed BCS championship.
  19. Some info on the Info:Exchange Street will be closed from Spicer to Union on gamedays. No seating will be allowed on the grass hill. The grade is too steep.Tailgating will be allowed in all lots, but no grills in the decks. Alcohol has to be in a plastic cup, but other than that, is not a problem.High school games will be limited to major events. They want to emphasize that the Info is the University of Akron's stadium, not the city's.Seeing on camera or a webcam is in no way comperable to seeing it in person. The North Endzone facility (no sponsors yet) will have locker rooms for Soccer, Baseball, and Softball. The roof is rentable on gamedays.
  20. Still stuck at work. Envy is not a strong enough word to describe what I'm feeling right now. 5 minutes away, and i can't be there. Time to break out that teleportation technology they're hiding underneath Ayer hall.
  21. Of course Akron will have to go deep. I would question the coaching staff's sanity if they don't go deep early and often. But don't count out the running game. Alex Allen can definitely surprise you if you're not expecting him, and PSU might not if they're expecting a constant air barrage.Another unknown is Devoe Torrence. He was recruited to replace Beanie Wells at OSU, and possibly would have been the starting RB this year. I say possibly because there's no way of telling now that he's here.
  22. Keep voting. We probably won't crack the top 40, but at least we can look light years ahead of the MAC.And if we do manage to crack it, they'll have to talk about us on ESPN! I know we can do it. I've seen the internet voting power of Zipsnation. Remember Zippy! We have until 1PM Tuesday to make our mark.Currently in 73rd place. Next highest MAC team is Bowling Green at 92. VOTE FOR AKRON ONLY TO MAKE THE BIGGEST IMPACT. If you have a second-favorite team, vote for them, too, but the less teams you vote for, the bigger your vote counts.
  23. I already voted. In fact, Akron is the only team I voted for. The vote counts more that way.By the way, Forde is a paid troll, doing this only to get a reaction.
  24. I hope he's joking, too.But if he really is taking over sponsorship from Ford, he could stick with a Roman theme. Little Ceasar's Colliseum Bowl, or something. The Little Ceaser's Gladiator Bowl would be an awesome name.
  25. http://www.wwj.com/Name-Change-For-Motor-City-Bowl/4928544 So long, Motor City Bowl. We hardly knew ya.
